Call for papers - Early modern
À partir d’un corpus de livres de fête conservés dans les collections Jacques Doucet de la bibliothèque de l’Institut national d’histoire de l’art (mais qui ne doit pas s’y limiter), ces journées d’études chercheront à saisir les enjeux de la notation du ballet équestre dans les premières décennies du XVIIe siècle et ses prolongements jusqu’à la fin du siècle suivant, dans une relation à l’histoire de la danse, mais aussi à l’histoire des sciences et à l’histoire politique. Articulant représentations figurées des cavaliers et des motifs dessinés par leurs déplacements, et représentations abstraites (lignes, points, schémas) déployés sur la page, ces planches présentent un réel intérêt pour la recherche sur les formes notationnelles de la danse.

The spectre of mental health therapies: between the new order and a crisis in therapeutic paradigms
Depuis les années 1990, les évolutions des thérapies dédiées au traitement des maladies mentales, plus largement de la nébuleuse des troubles « psys », indiquent le dépassement de la partition, construite au sein de la psychiatrie moderne, entre médicaments et psychothérapies classiques. En témoigne la manière dont se définissent les TCC de « troisième génération », les techniques de remédiation cognitive ou encore les dispositifs d’e-santé mentale, qui mêlent une variété de gestes, de supports et d’intentions thérapeutiques. Ces journées d’études visent à interroger le nouvel ordre des thérapies en train de se faire, dans un contexte caractérisé par une crise des paradigmes thérapeutiques et par l’éclectisme des pratiques de soin. Quels sont les fondements, les traductions pratiques, les enjeux idéologiques et professionnels de ce nouveau champ des « thérapies en santé mentale » ? En quoi ce dernier réinterroge-t-il le bornage des interventions de « soin psychique » et la distinction de leurs spécificités sur le plan de la théorie clinique et sur celui des méthodes ?

Ce prix vise à encourager des travaux de recherche contribuant à améliorer les réflexions, réalisations et solutionsdes acteurs concernés par la mise en œuvre d’une transition écologique juste et solidaire en France. La thèse doit avoir traité des enjeux relatifs à la transition écologique, dans le contexte français métropolitain et/ou d’Outre-mer, avec une attention aux situations d’inégalités ou de discriminations, afin de favoriser la concrétisation des objectifs de justice sociale et environnementale.

Nous cherchons des historiens et historiennes, mais aussi des spécialistes appartenant au spectre large des sciences humaines et sociales, de toute nationalité, jouissant d’un niveau de langue en français et allemand leur permettant de lire un ouvrage scientifique en allemand et de le recenser en français en environ deux pages.

La Revue Voltaire, annuelle, publie des études traitant de la connaissance et de la diffusion des écrits de Voltaire, de ses réseaux, de sa trajectoire et de sa réception. Sa section Varia est ouverte à toutes contributions, publiées après expertise anonyme. 2020 marque l’achèvement des œuvres complètes publiées par la Voltaire Foundation à Oxford : Les Questions sur l’Encyclopédie, l’Essai sur les mœurs et l’esprit des nations, le Siècle de Louis XIV, le Précis du Siècle de Louis XV, la Lettre sur les Anglais, viennent ainsi d’être réédités et susciteront de nouvelles dynamiques de recherche. Quelles nouvelles lectures ces rééditions peuvent-elles susciter ? La posture du philosophe cherchant à rendre raison de l’ensemble des données liant l’homme à son histoire et à son engagement dans le présent est-elle encore lisible ? Le procès intenté aux Lumières, par la voie des débats suscités par les théories décoloniales ou de la cancel culture, influe-t-il sur notre perception de la pensée voltairienne ?

Projections of health and welfare on the socialist and post-socialist screen
Bodies and health on television have not been extensively researched, in particular in the socialist and transition to market-economy contexts.The conference seeks to analyse how television and its evolving formats –contemporary, similar and yet differing in national broadcast contexts– expressed and staged bodies and health from local, regional, national and international perspectives. The conference seeks to better understand the role that TV, as a modern visual mass media, has played in what may be cast as the transition from a national bio-political public health paradigm at the beginning of the twentieth century, to alternative societal forms of the late twentieth century when (supposedly) “better” and “healthier” lives were increasingly shaped by market forces.

The televisual spaces of medicine and health in the 20th Century
Medical television programmes, across their history, have had specific relationships to places and spaces. On the one level, they have represented medical and health places: consulting rooms, hospitals, the home, community spaces, public health infrastructures and the rest. As television-producers have represented these places, there has been an interaction with the developing capabilities of television technologies and grammars. Moreover, producers have borrowed their imaginaries of medical and health places from other media (film, photographs, museum displays etc.) and integrated, adjusted and reformulated them into their work.

À l’occasion des 80 ans du CNRS, la revue Hermès propose une demi-journée de rencontre autour de cinq questions fondamentales pour saisir les enjeux politiques et scientifiques du XXIe siècle. Six chercheurs ont répondu à l’invitation des membres de la revue Hermès et dialogueront avec eux sur le rôle des algorithmes dans nos sociétés, la montée des populismes en Europe, la place de l’interdisciplinarité dans les sciences, la relation entre le scientifique et le politique, ou encore la révolution de la traduction automatique… De quoi donner matière à une réflexion critique sur les transformations du monde contemporain.

Enhancing human in Europe: dream and nightmare of the interwar period
Number of historians and philosophers consider in general that transhumanism and its aim at enhancing the human through applied science and technology have their roots in the inter-war period: Julian Huxley, Jean Coutrot, John B.S. Haldane or John D. Bernal are indeed massively considered as the precursors of such ideas. But are they the sole references to mention when considering the inter-war origins of transhumanism, or are they just the tip of the iceberg of a broader current of thought emerging at that time? Such question immediately raises another one, which requires clarification : can current transhumanism(s) really be linked to the ideas emerging in the inter-war period ? The aim of the workshop will be first to check whether and how the idea of an enhanced human through technology intervention may have circulated in Europe during that time. Secondly, space will be given to look for pertinent criteria for the identification of a « transhumanism » of the inter-war period, by evaluating the nature of the indices which may be studied: mobilizing ideas, currents of thoughts, schools of thoughts, sociotechnical imaginaries, etc. Within these perspectives, the workshop will make possible comparisons between the different European contexts (England, France, Italy, Germany, Russia, etc.), and the several papers will help us to better understand the circulation of ideas, networks and human exchanges which contributed to forge the cradle of transhumanist ideas. Communications will be in French or in English.

Understanding Mediterranean Collections
Comment la constitution des collections a-t-elle accompagné la construction et l’évolution de l’objet scientifique qu’est la Méditerranée ? Comment exploiter des collections constituées selon une logique propre, tout en renouvelant les questionnaires que l’on peut développer à partir d’elles ? Comment documenter l’histoire des collections disparues, dispersées, détruites par les catastrophes ou les conflits ? Peut-on retrouver les réflexes savants issus de la consultation de supports analogiques dans la recherche et l’usage des collections numériques ? Comment constituer, exploiter et transmettre de nouveaux corpus documentaires ? Le propos de cette école d’été est d’aborder de front les problématiques scientifiques et professionnelles, de manière à faciliter le dialogue et la collaboration entre les milieux de la recherche et les milieux de la conservation et de la valorisation patrimoniale.

DARIAH Annual Event 2019: Humanities Data
The DARIAH Annual Event 2019 thematizes a catalogue of research questions that arise when we speak of Humanities Data. At the very heart of this topic linger questions around the type and amount of data that humanists collect: what kind of data do we have; where is it; and who owns it? Is our data indeed complex, and if so, what makes it complex? How do definitions and conceptualisations of the term ‘data’ resonate with or, perhaps more accurately, alienate us from our conceptions of our source landscape as art and humanities scholars? And, of course, how will the major European policy initiative to build an Open Science Cloud for research data impact upon our practices and opportunities? The upcoming DARIAH Annual Event 2019 combines forms of encounter developed in prior meetings, such as Working Groups meetings, workshops organised by Working Groups and projects, and a Marketplace to exchange ideas around new research projects and infrastructural solutions with an open conference setting.

Globalisations and the circulation of ideas, knowledge and norms
L’objectif de ce colloque est de revenir sur les études de « la globalisation » à partir des circulations des idées, des normes et des savoirs, en étant attentifs aux stratégies des acteurs, dans une perspective décentrée, et en dépassant les approches en termes de transfert et d’uniformisation. Il s’agit d’étudier l’impact des polarisations économiques et des rapports de pouvoir internationaux sur ces circulations, en dépassant le seul face à face entre hégémonies et subalternisations et une vision en termes d’uniformisation : peut-on parler de globalisations au pluriel ou observer des processus de globalisation parallèles non-hégémoniques ? Quels en sont les acteurs et les processus principaux ? Nous souhaitons ainsi interroger les manières dont les idées, les normes et les savoirs circulent pour rendre compte des asymétries à l’œuvre, mais aussi de la manière dont, dans les pratiques, elles peuvent être contournées, remises en cause, réinterprétées dans des configurations parfois inédites.

Global Histories of Compassion from the Mid-Nineteenth Century to the Present
The conference invites scholars to think about the notion of "humanitarian knowledge" in a multidisciplinary way, by combining perspectives such as gender history, the histories ofemotions and the body, literary and visual culture studies, global health history, as well as the history of institutions and their agents. All of them are useful to explore the transnational networks through which humanitarian practices and ideas have been promoted, disseminated and standardised.The conference brings together scholars interested in working on the history of humanitarian knowledge from a gender perspective. The interventions deal with stories of flesh and blood, which put women’s and men’s humanitarian experiences at their centre, in order to inscribe their local practices within a global history of compassion from the mid-nineteenth century to the present.

The international conference Reframing the (Art) World/Redéfinir le monde (de l’art) aims at concluding an intense three-year research carried out within the frame of the research programme PRISME, hosted at the Archives de la critique d’art (Archives of Art Criticism in Rennes). By following a multidisciplinary approach, the aim of this conference is to reframe a still little-known chapter of cultural history, in order to reconsider art criticism as a historical and epistemological prism in regard to international issues since the second half of the XXth century.

L’objectif est de promouvoir des recherches dans le domaine de la lutte contre le cancer en sciences humaines et sociales (psychologie, sociologie, anthropologie, économie, philosophie, sciences politiques, droit, géographie, éthique, information et communication, promotion de la santé, etc.), épidémiologie et santé publique. Les efforts accomplis ces dernières années en France, de manière générale, pour engager des travaux sur le cancer dans ces disciplines sont importants. Néanmoins les besoins en connaissances demeurent particulièrement importants et justifient une démarche volontariste et continue au sein de la communauté des disciplines listées plus haut.
