  Call for papers - Early modern

  Curiosity, Intellectual Enterprises and Scientific Explorations in the Writings of Women in the Early Modern Period (16th-18th centuries)

  The subject of this international conference is the participation of women in the development of scientific ideas from the Renaissance to the Enlightenment. It welcomes reflections on women’s intellectual contributions to the creation of the « Republic of Letters », and how female curiosity was connected to the development of a new rationality that opened new paths towards modern science, while simultaneously being stimulated by the marvellous and the strange, as was manifest in the creation of scientific cabinets and collections of rare objects. It aims at encouraging reflections on the concept of female scientific curiosity. This will allow us to discuss the construction of a female subjectivity emerged from new approaches towards collections of naturalia.

  Faces of Eros

  Journal of Phenomenological and Existential Theory and Culture

  Eros plays a central role in Western thought. In the philosophical and spiritual traditions, it usually refers to physical love and desire. Eros is a recurring character in the pre-Socratic cosmogonies, and it is the main impulse of the philosophical quest for truth in Plato’s Phaedrus. This Special Topics issue of PhænEx wishes to give a new impulse to philosophical reflections on this fundamental and ambiguous phenomenon, following an interdisciplinary perspective at the intersection of phenomenology, post-structuralism, and social sciences (psychology, sociology, sexology, anthropology, linguistics, etc.).

  Call for papers - Epistemology and methodology

  Né en 2014 de la collaboration d’une trentaine d’étudiant∙e∙s de master et de doctorat inscrit∙e∙s dans des disciplines variées des sciences humaines et sociales et des sciences expérimentales, le laboratoire junior GenERe (Genre : epistémologie et recherche) prendra fin en 2015. Pendant deux ans, cette structure nous a permis d’organiser des journées d’étude sur des thèmes variés (« Genre et bande dessinée », « Genre et politiques publiques », « Que faire de la “théorie du genre” ? »…), des rencontres avec des militant∙e∙s et personnalités comme Pinar Selek ou Jeffrey Weeks, et un premier colloque en décembre 2014 sur les liens entre « Genre et sexualités ». Pour notre deuxième et dernier colloque, prévu pour décembre 2015, nous avons décidé de revenir aux motivations originelles de ce projet collaboratif et pluridisciplinaire, en proposant deux jours de réflexions sur des questions épistémologiques.
