Le projet IDEX Sorbonne Paris Cité « Écrire l'histoire depuis les marges : le cas des Africains-Américains » organise sa seconde journée d’études sur la réalisation d’une anthologie de traductions d’historiens africains-américains. Lors de cette journée, les auteurs des notices, après avoir présenté leur travail, échangeront avec des collègues commentateurs qui porteront un regard extérieur et critique sur le travail de cette anthologie.

The conference aims to advance our understanding of the relevance of pragmatism to contemporary debates in philosophy, the humanities, the social and the natural sciences as well as in communities of practice. Pragmatism is here broadly considered as a tradition of thought stemming from philosophy but now clearly present in a number of academic fields such as sociology, law, politics, art, physics, mathematics, anthropology, history, and literature.

La technologie entre l’Europe et les États-Unis aux XIXe et XXe siècles
Rencontre et ignorance
La technologie, entendue au sens étymologique de discours sur les arts et métiers, c’est-à-dire comme science des opérations, a suscité un vif intérêt au début du XIXe siècle. Alors que l’intensification du travail marque tous les modes de production – artisanat, industrie rurale, manufactures – de nombreux acteurs des techniques (artisans, ingénieurs, savants, caméralistes, etc.) proposent une théorisation de l’action productive, formulant de façon plus ou moins aboutie leur compréhension du travail en termes opératoires et plaçant de grands espoirs dans une science humaine capable d’améliorer l’activité.
