  Moral Machines? Ethics and Politics of the Digital World

  As our visible and invisible social reality is getting increasingly digitalized, the question of the ethical, moral and political consequences of digitalization is getting ever more pressing. All technologies mark their environment, but digital technologies do so much more intimately than any previous technologies since they promise to think in our place. But how do they really think? What happens when they are entrusted with moral decisions? Is a moral machine possible? Who is responsible of the social and political environments and situations digitalization creates? Should they be politically controlled and how? The conference Moral machines calls together scholars in philosophy, humanities, literature and art in order to discuss these pressing issues.

  Formes et dynamiques d’attention, de présence et d’engagements

  Revue « Interfaces numériques » Volume 7, n° 1/2018

  Ce prochain numéro de la revue Interfaces Numériques ambitionne de théoriser les rapports qui unissent l’attention, la présence et l’engagement. Cela situe d’emblée l’investigation au niveau des modalités d’implication générées tant par les médias interactifs, que par les situations vécues et les objets informatisés ou connectés qui les véhiculent. Notamment autour de l’image et des écrans, les efforts de théorisation pour cerner les caractéristiques de ces formes particulières et propres ont bien souvent rejoint les connaissances pratiques des concepteurs, inventeurs et designers investis dans l’expérimentation et l’exploitation…

  Symposium international de typographie

  En invitant des typographes, des chercheurs et des artistes, le symposium international « Lettres Modernes #2 » propose deux journées de réflexion sur la façon dont la coexistence entre médias traditionnels et médias numériques fait évoluer la typographie et sa perception. Organisé par l’ésam Caen/Cherbourg dans le cadre de ses activités de recherche, ce symposium est coordonné par Jean-Baptiste Levée. Il est réalisé en partenariat avec le festival des Arts graphiques de l’université de Caen Basse-Normandie (ARG3).
