  Mental maps": between memory transcription and symbolic projection

  TRANSCRIPT

  The notion of "mental maps" will therefore be considered according to two different meanings and uses: 1) the internal representation of a space travelled through (cognitive map) and 2) the representation of a set of entities or concepts (mind map). The terms "memory transcription" can be understood as the translation and recording on a graphic support of elements present in the mind. The terms of "symbolic projection" are conceived as the fact of externalizing by the means of signs or symbols on a graphic support, the two types of representation: the representation of a traversed space or the representation of a set of entities or concepts. The points of contact, crossover, reversal, between what could be called "representation of space" and "space of representation" are little explored. How can we better apprehend the complex notion of "mental map"? The question of memory transcription? Of the "symbolic projection"? Can we identify meeting points between these two polarities and if possible a continuum?

  Cette journée d'étude a pour but de réunir des chercheurs et des praticiens du parfum s’interrogeant sur la matérialité du parfum. Elle proposera une approche pluridisciplinaire du rôle du parfum et de ses utilisation, de l’histoire du parfumeur et de son métier et du rôle du designer et des nouveaux matériaux utilisés, à travers les interventions de spécialistes d’horizons divers : historiens, philosophes, anthropologues, parfumeurs et designers. L’approche pluridisciplinaire apportera des visions multiples et nuancées des contours du design olfactif.

  Intersections of Art, Science, and Technology in Soviet Film and Culture

  By maintaining the tension between artists’ imaginative approaches to technology in the Soviet Union (Meyerhold’s Biomechanics), film directors’ use of science such as physiology (Eisenstein’s Expressive Movement), and scientists’ own theorization of art history (Lev Vygotsky’s The Psychology of Art), this workshop aims at unpacking the historical and political forces behind Soviet film theory, film practice, and art history in relation to science and technology. While examining the juncture between art, science, and technology in post-Revolutionary Russia, with a focus on the avant-garde period until the death of Joseph Stalin, cinema is thus considered as a device beyond its medium of film (Francois Albera, Maria Tortajada: Cinema Beyond Film) and the medium-specificity of the arts is called into question.

  Sens et représentations en conflit

  Colloque international des jeunes chercheurs du CERCI (Centre de recherche sur les conflits d’interprétation)

  Le colloque international des jeunes chercheurs du CERCI se donne pour objectif d'interroger le rapport étroit entre le sens et la représentation et d'identifier les conflits qui en découlent. La dualité sens/interprétation sera envisagée dans le domaine littéraire, artistique, théâtral et cinématographique, linguistique, civilisationniste, sociologique et dans celui des sciences de l'information et de la communication. Il s'articule autour de deux axes principaux : le premier axe se focalise sur les représentations d'autrui qui se construisent et se déconstruisent à travers toutes sortes d'activités artistiques ou créatives. Le deuxième axe : construction du sens et représentations s'intéressera aux conflits interprétatifs.
