  The sociology of the lower classes in contemporary Japan

  Ce séminaire poursuit le travail initié en 2019-2020 sur les structurations et recompositions des classes populaires dans le Japon contemporain, analysées à partir d’une enquête ethnographique de cinq ans (2012-2017) dans un quartier populaire de Tokyo. Cette année, un accent particulier sera mis sur les aspects méthodologiques de l’enquête et de sa restitution écrite ou filmique.

  Ethnographical investigations in Japan, in the context of the precarity of research in France

  Feedback and discussions of recent experiences

  L’objectif de cette journée est d’initier une réflexion méthodologique sur l’utilisation de l’ethnographie et de l’enquête par immersion par les chercheurs qui travaillent sur le Japon contemporain en proposant un espace de discussion autour d’expériences récentes. En partant de la confrontation des expériences de terrain individuelles, cette rencontre a également vocation à élargir le dialogue à des thèmes tels que la place accordée aux sciences sociales dans la société japonaise et à la précarisation de la recherche en France. Cette journée est ouverte aux étudiants de master ou en début de thèse afin que nos expériences puissent les aider dans le cadre de leurs propres recherches.

  Rural transformation under the process of urbanization

  Mixing methodological approaches in the field of urban studies

  Created in 2008 to open up new venues for a dialogue between France and China on planning issues, the Sino-French Centre for Urban, Regional and Planning Studies has been actively involved in organizing exchange seminars in France and China. The Centre is supported by University Paris East-Créteil and Nanjing University. This year seminar will raise two issues: "rural transformation under the process of urbanization" and "mixing methodological approaches in the field of urban studies".

  Assistant HES (Doctoral student) at Geneva School of Business Administration

  The Geneva School of Business Administration (HEG-Geneva) offers a Research Assistant (Doctoral student) position for three years starting from 1^st September 2013.The doctoral student will participate to the project « Organizing, Communicating, and Costing in Risk Governance: Learning Lessons from the H1N1 Pandemic », financed by the Swiss National Science Foundation. He or she will be in charge of the research components dedicated to costing around H1N1. This comparative study will involve qualitative fieldwork in three countries, namely Switzerland, the United States and Japan. He or she will collaborate with a post-doctoral fellow focusing on issues related to organization and communication. He or she will have to write a PhD thesis on H1N1 costing issues and will be supervised by Prof. Nathalie Brender. The project is funded for three years.

  Le/la post-doc que nous recrutons sur un poste à 80% participera durant 3 ans au projet financé par le fonds national Suisse de la recherche scientifique (dirigé par la prof. Mathilde Bourrier): « Organizing, Communicating, and Costing in Risk Governance: Learning Lessons from the H1N1 Pandemic ». Il/Elle travaillera plus particulièrement sur les deux composantes du projet portant sur les facteurs organisationnels et communicationnels de la gestion de la pandémie, en Suisse, aux États-Unis et au Japon. La personne recherchée a obtenu son doctorat en sociologie ou en anthropologie depuis moins de 3 ans, d'excellentes capacités à mener des terrains de recherche dans plusieurs pays, et d'un intérêt marqué pour les questions de santé globale (global health).
