  Ce projet poursuit des réflexions engagées dans la programmation 2013-14 du labex Item sur la question de l’évolution des territoires labellisés en tant qu’« espaces protégés ». Dans ce cadre une collaboration s’est construite avec les professionnels agissant au sein du Parc régional du Morvan et de l’Établissement public de coopération culturelle de Bibracte. Le processus collaboratif a fait émerger des questionnements spécifiques relatifs au processus de labellisation Grand site de France au sein du parc du Morvan, ainsi qu’au rôle de ce parc et aux rapports qu’il entretient avec ses habitants, usagers et publics. La collaboration est susceptible de s’étendre dans le cadre d’actions de recherches impliquant des coopérations internationales au sein d’un programme européen.

  Comment penser l’anthropocène ?

  Anthropologues, philosophes et sociologues face au changement climatique.

  En décembre 2015, la 21ème Conférence des parties sur le climat, communément appelée COP21, se tiendra au Bourget, près de Paris. Cette conférence suscite autant de craintes, que d’espoirs : beaucoup considèrent qu’elle représente la dernière chance d’arriver à un accord contraignant sur la réduction des émissions de gaz à effet de serre, afin d’éviter une hausse trop importante des températures, qui aurait des effets catastrophiques.

  C’est dans la perspective d’une mobilisation de tous les efforts autour d’une solution positive, que nous appelons à un colloque international, réunissant philosophes, anthropologues et sociologues, qui se tiendra à Paris, au Collège de France, le 5 et 6 novembre 2015.

  Borders, Walls and Security

  Thirty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the question still remains “Do good fences still make good neighbours”? Since the Great Wall of China, construction of which began under the Qin dynasty, the Antonine Wall, built in Scotland to support Hadrian’s Wall, the Roman “Limes” or the Danevirk fence, the “wall” has been a constant in the protection of defined entities claiming sovereignty, East and West. But is the wall more than an historical relict for the management of borders? In recent years the wall has been given renewed vigour all around the world, whether in North America, in Europe (with the Greek border fence), in Asia (for instance in India) or in Middle East. But the success of these new walls in the development of friendly and orderly relations between nations (or indeed, within nations) remains unclear. What role does the wall play in the development of security and insecurity? Do walls contribute to a sense of insecurity as much as they assuage fears and create a sense of security for those ‘behind the line’? Exactly what kind of security is associated with border walls?

  Ideas in movement: the role of conflict and commerce in the history of navigation

  Following successful meetings in 2010 and 2012, Royal Museums Greenwich and the Royal Institute of Navigation are planning a third symposium to bring together current research in the history of navigation. 2014 sees the centenary of the beginning of the First World War. While this conflict provided a powerful stimulus for research and development in navigation, technological developments have also sprung from users and from commercial imperatives.

  The Lebanon and the Syrian crisis

  Ce colloque sur « Le Liban et la crise syrienne » s’inscrit dans un programme de recherche plus vaste : « Le Proche-Orient et la crise syrienne ». La crise syrienne va se prolonger, même si les combats cessaient en 2013-2014. Les conséquences sur la Syrie et le Proche-Orient sont durables, ce qui justifie une réflexion sur le long terme. Quelles sont les consequences sur le Liban ? Sur la politique intérieure ? Sur son économie ? S’agit-il de la faillite de la politique de reconstruction du Liban après la guerre civile, précipitée par la crise syrienne, ou d’un simple retournement de conjoncture ?
