  Global Race (2019)

  The “Global Race” ANR project investigates the reconfigurations of the race concept since 1945 in Europe, North America and Latin America. It aims at examining various theories and practices regarding the use of racial and ethnic categories in the scientific, political, legal and statistical realms. Researchers working on these issues are invited to present their work during our monthly seminar.

  Mediation: A transversal approach with multiple purposes

  Xth Congress World mediation forum

  The WMF’s mission is the development and exchange of knowledge, information and competencies in all mediation areas, notably through the regular organization of international congresses for more than fifteen years. The Xth Conference of the World Mediation Forum wants to devote itself to trying to understand how mediation can be organized and developed when it has so many objectives that are seemingly difficult to reconcile. Thus, the 2019 conference will try to bring, through four highly interrelated roundtables and about forty presentations, a significant contribution to this question: 'Mediation: A transversal approach with multiple purposes?'

  Appraisals, challenges and perspectives of democratic consolidation in the Democratic Republic of Congo

  Ce colloque entend dresser le bilan d’une décennie d’application de la Constitution, du fonctionnement du régime politique, de l’État, des institutions politiques nationales (Le Président de la République, le gouvernement, l’Assemblée nationale, le Sénat, les Cours et tribunaux) et provinciales (Gouvernements provinciaux et assemblées provinciales) ainsi que ceux du Conseil économique et social, des institutions d’appui à la démocratie, et des partis politiques. L’ambition du colloque est de relever les défis de la consolidation de l’État de droit démocratique et les perspectives du constitutionnalisme en  République Démocratique du Congo sous la Constitution de 2006.

  Names and first names: establishing identity in the empire of choice

  Le prénom et le nom de famille sont les premiers éléments que nous utilisons pour identifier et se faire identifier au sein de la société. Le nom de famille nous rattache à une certaine lignée (par la filiation) tandis que le prénom laissé au libre choix des parents permet de s’individualiser. Alors que, jusqu’à récemment, des habitudes locales et coutumières ou des règles juridiques restreignaient fortement la transmission du nom de famille ou l’inscription du prénom à l’état civil, il semble que les hommes et surtout les femmes disposent désormais d’une plus grande liberté de dénomination. Quel usage est-il fait de cette liberté ?
