L’ancrage social et citoyen de l’hôpital, objet d’un précédent colloque organisé par la Société française d’histoire des hôpitaux (SFHH), ne saurait être compris sans faire référence à ce qu’apporte aujourd’hui l’hôpital, parfois dans des conditions difficiles, dans le domaine de l’innovation médicale et aussi organisationnelle, les deux aspects étant étroitement liés. C’est pourquoi cette rencontre nationale et internationale est organisée sur le thème de l’innovation médicale et hospitalière, hier, aujourd’hui, demain. Technologies, chercheurs et patients. Les études attendues pourront concerner une période allant de l’Antiquité à nos jours, avec une attention particulière accordée à la mise en contexte des innovations médicales et hospitalières.

Maritime spaces, ports and coastlines from Roussillon to Provence in the Middle Ages
Cette rencontre entend réunir des historiens, géographes et géoarchéologues, spécialistes des sources textuelles, cartographiques, autant que matérielles issues de l’archéologie et de la géomorphologie, afin de confronter les approches et de tirer des enseignements de ces regards croisés sur les changements sociétaux et environnementaux de la période médiévale qui ont touché les sociétés littorales et les établissements portuaires. Les questionnements portant sur le cas spécifique d’Aigues-Mortes trouveront peut-être un écho dans le cas d’autres sites méditerranéens actuellement étudiés, soulevant des analogies ou des situations contradictoires susceptibles d’apporter des éléments de réponse. Ces regards croisés permettront d’apprécier les singularités d'un port, son degré de développement et ses évolutions, ainsi que de l'appréhender à différentes échelles spatiales et temporelles.

Au sein des deux sections de sciences humaines – sciences historiques et philologiques, sciences religieuses – de l’École pratique des hautes études, les cours portent le nom de conférences. Celles-ci sont ouvertes à des étudiants et à des auditeurs, qui reçoivent une formation à la recherche ; ils poursuivent en commun des travaux d’érudition. Les directeurs d’études leur donnent les conseils utiles à la conduite de leurs travaux personnels.

Truth and falsehood during the Renaissance
Thanks to the coming of an information society and the rise of new media capable of spreading knowledge, our time is often described as a “post-truth” era. Could have any similar ambiguity been present in early modern Europe? Following the political and religious turmoil which marked the Renaissance period, together with the renewal of theorical and technical knowledges, a whole new range of relations between truth and falsehood was established, thus producing a crisis of the current “regimes of truth” which this PhD conference aims to investigate. This two-day long PhD conference aims to encourage new, reflections, debates and to raise new questions about the ever-complex relation of Truth / Falsehood in the Renaissance period, while focusing on their epistemological context.

Le sujet proposé par Marilyn Nicoud (UAPV-CIHAM), professeur d'histoire médiévale à l'UAPV et directrice-adjointe du CIHAM, « Médecine, santé, société (Occident, XIIe-XVe siècles) », est volontairement large pour laisser toute latitude au/à la candidat(e) pour en définir précisément les contours avec la directrice de thèse. Il s'inscrit aussi bien dans une approche intellectuelle, culturelle que sociale de l'histoire de la médecine et de la santé, de l'histoire des savoirs et des pratiques. Les sources de l'enquête peuvent aussi bien concerner l'histoire des textes et des livres (histoire des doctrines, approches philologique et codicologique, édition numérique) que celle des pratiques individuelles et collectives à travers des sources archivistiques.

SW4SH 2016: Second International Workshop
Classicists and historians are interested in developing textual databases, in order to gather and explore large amounts of primary source materials. For a long time, they mainly focused on text digitization and markup. They only recently decided to try to explore the possibility of transferring some analytical processes they previously thought incompatible with automation to knowledge engineering systems, thus taking advantage of the growing set of tools and techniques based on the languages and standards of the semantic Web, such as linked data, ontologies, and automated reasoning. SW4SH 2016 aims to provide a leading international and interdisciplinary forum for disseminating the latest research in the field of Semantic Web for the preservation and exploitation of our scientific heritage, the study of the history of ideas and their transmission.

This monthly seminar will aim to invite researchers to come and present their work in progress or recently published that address the "Arab mathematics", understood in a broad sense to be studied not only mathematics itself, but science "mathematized" of the era, such as astronomy, optics and static; Furthermore, we do not restrict themselves to only written in Arabic mathematics, but we can address their writings in other languages extensions, like Latin, Hebrew and Farsi. The texts studied will be discussed at sessions of three hours. Emphasis on reading and commenting on sources.

The Gothic structures: in pursuit of balance
Leur stabilité et leurs confortations à l’époque médiévale
Raised from 1242 to replace the Romanesque choir, the choir of the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Tournai (Belgium) is resolutely an exemple of Gothic architecture the most advanced in the French royal domain. Besides a number of reasons, the verticality and slenderness of the construction, the fasciculated pillars, the buttressing thrown outward shows this well. Without participating in the rivalry of the first half of the 13th century to build the tallest cathedral, it plays nevertheless on the extremely lightweight of the construction, which was trying to reach on other contemporary sites. Beauvais is the most famous case, but it is not unique. In Tournai, as elsewhere, important stabilizing work was needed on these monuments that had « exceeded the limit ».

Notre colloque réunira une vingtaine d’intervenants, français, allemands et italiens, philologues, historiens, codicologues, tous spécialistes des traités de Théophile Protospathaire (VIIe-IXe siècle) ou des productions médicales strictement liées à ce médecin. Cette rencontre scientifique nous donnera l'occasion de débattre autour du corpus d'une dizaine de traités médicaux qui lui sont attribués et des interrogations qu'il suscite, notamment au sujet des sources, techniques et finalités de la réécriture chrétienne dans le cadre du milieu intellectuel et social de Théophile et des lecteurs / utilisateurs de son œuvre. Nous espérons éclairer également la question de l'unité d'auteur, de la datation des divers traités, du lexique et de la réception de ce corpus.
