  Historiography of the Perception of Islam through Manuscripts, Korans and their Displacement

  The aim of this workshop is to approach the question of the relationship between Christianity and Islam through the study of the production, circulation and uses of Arabic manuscripts, and mainly Korans, in the late medieval and early modern Mediterranean Europe. Our assumption is that the Balkans, Italy and the Iberian Peninsula form an axis of circulation which is especially significant for our understanding of the Mediterranean Sea as a comprehensive space of cultural, political and religious contact.

  La gestion des ressources hydrauliques en Méditerranée au 1er millénaire avant notre ère

  IIIe symposium international HYDRΩMED

  Le colloque propose de comparer les différents modes d’adaptation des populations méditerranéennes pré-romaines à leurs ressources hydriques. Dans un climat marqué par l’inégale répartition de l’eau, les sociétés antiques, qu’elles soient phénico-puniques, grecques, perses ou étrusques ont répondu différemment ou non aux diverses situations, voire crises hydriques qui les touchaient. On pourra proposer aussi bien réflexions théoriques systémiques qu’études de cas sur des sites antiques pour chercher à dégager les mutations et les permanences, les éventuels transferts technologiques d’une société à une autre. Ici, comme dans d’autres champs de l’activité humaine, on s’interrogera sur l’existence d’une koinè méditerranéenne antique autour des savoirs et des pratiques techniques, autour des traditions culturelles et cultuelles. La chronologie s’échelonnera du VIII^e siècle au I^er siècle av. J.-C., c’est-à-dire avant la diffusion des modèles et techniques romains.

  Artémidore et l'interprétation des rêves

  Quatrième journée d'études

  Le seul traité antique d’onirocritique préservé dans sa totalité est celui d’Artémidore de Daldis, auteur grec de la fin du IIe siècle de notre ère. Depuis septembre 2007, le Groupe Artémidore en a entrepris une nouvelle édition et traduction annotée. En mars 2009, il a organisé une première journée d’études autour de cette œuvre et de l’interprétation des rêves dans les civilisations du passé. Celle-ci sera la quatrième.

  Elective affinities. Critical approach of religious heritage-making in the Mediterranean

  Workshop of the inaugural conference of the Association of Critical Heritage Studies

  This workshop of the inaugural conference of the Association of Critical Heritage Studies (Gothenburg, 5 June 2012) focuses on the relationships between religion and heritage in the Mediterranean. It aims to study the entwining of these two phenomena and reveal the eventual particularities of religious heritage-making, as well as to discuss the conceptions of heritage embedded in the monotheistic religions, and re-examine the cultural matrix that religion and heritage share, redefine or negotiate through memory practices.
