  Causes and Connections. On Divination and other Inquiries into Nature and Humans

  International Colloquium in Honor of Professor Geoffrey E. R. Lloyd

  Dans le cadre du PRI « Pratiquer le comparatisme : terrains, textes, artefacts », ce colloque international réunit ethnologues, philologues et philosophes autour des travaux de Geoffrey Lloyd et de leur apport à la pratique du comparatisme. En prenant appui notamment sur son ouvrage Cognitive Variations (2007), nous souhaitons interroger le problème de la coexistence de causalités autour d’un même événement, en mettant en perspective des pratiques rituelles saisies en contexte divinatoire et des savoirs prédictifs constitués en corpus de connaissances.

  We read original sources and their translations, presented by their translator.
Texts this year will deal on the one hand on cultures of computations and on the other on the relations between mathematical texts and «texts of the practice» in commercial and administrative contexts.

  History of Science, History of Text

  The seminar "History of Science, History of Text" will mainly explore textual problems related to the ERC Project SAW – "Mathematical Sciences in the Ancient World". The seminar will address the following issues regarding scientific sources: how textual sources bear witness to the social groups that produced them; How textual sources testify to knowledge; history of compilations  How actors structure their texts and knowledge into parts; how textual sources reflect the material environment in which they were produced.

  Social Critique and Mobilization: A Dialogue between French and Taiwanese Sociologists

  This conference will try to uncover the assumptions about social critique and mobilization and how sociology makes these things social. To say it more concretely, we will try to share our different fieldwork approach and theoretical understanding of widely used concepts such as, for example, civil society, labor movements, environmental protest… We will try to analyze the interactions between social protest and the media, the state, political parties, industries, etc.

  La sinologie introuvable ?

  Assises des études chinoises

  L’association française d’études chinoises (AFEC),propose de réunir enseignants, scientifiques et professionnels, pour dresser un bilan des études chinoises en France, en débattre et dégager des perspectives pour l’avenir. L’AFEC souhaite ouvrir un espace de dialogue sur des sujets qui intéressent de manière transversale l’ensemble des professionnels, quelle que soit la discipline qu’ils pratiquent (anthropologie, archéologie, économie, géographie, histoire classique et moderne, histoire de l’art, linguistique, littérature, philosophie, sociologie, sciences politiques, etc.) ou qu’ils viennent du monde de l’entreprise ou des administrations. L’ambition est de s’interroger sur nos pratiques d’enseignement et de recherche, sur la diffusion de nos travaux, en regardant aussi du côté de nos partenaires européens. Cette manifestation a vocation à être un lieu d’échanges permettant de surmonter les coupures intellectuelles et institutionnelles jugées quelque peu réductrices entre les domaines de spécialités.
