Mississippi Delta Communities Facing Disappearing Land
"Still on the Map!" takes as its context the Mississippi Delta fifteen years after Hurricane Katrina and about five years after the commissioning of the major new "100-year" flood protection infrastructure. Expressed from its title -a statement of resistance/resilience chanted by many inhabitants during ecological events in Louisiana- this research project aims to describe the links and "attachments" (LATOUR, 2017) that different communities in the delta maintain with their geographical environment in a situation of strong ecological tipping point, integrating the natural and artificial infrastructures of the watershed into the definition of ecosystems as socio-political actors in their own right. In a context where the delta's land is gradually sinking into the sea, every hour the surface area of a football pitch is permanently flooded.

The arrival of COVID-19 in Africa on 14 February 2020 has not left schools untouched and inactive. The effects experienced, the counter-offensives carried out, and the innovations generated now place African schools under new faces that research must study, understand, theorize, and put into perspective. That is what this call for papers is all about, inviting potential authors to examine the following aspects: experiences of distance education, strengths, and weaknesses of African schools in the time of crisis, impacts of COVID-19 on learning, the teaching profession, conceptual abstraction, and school of tomorrow in Africa.

Decentralization, City Diplomacy and Sustainable Development Goals

La diplomatie des villes représente aujourd’hui un défi intellectuel pour les théoriciens des relations internationales et d’une certaine manière pour tous ceux qui s’intéressent aux questions urbaines et éducatives. La diplomatie des villes incarne aussi la lisibilité que prend la décentralisation là où elle est mise en place. Cette dernière, lorsqu’elle touche à toute l'action publique, elle met en place une réforme qui conduit à de changements des pratiques à travers une soft révolution. Elle est supposée renforcer le pouvoir local pour concevoir un nouveau modèle de l'action publique dont la matérialisation fait appel à la diplomatie des villes. C’est d’ailleurs dans cette optique qu’il faille désormais analyser l’impact des objectifs du développement durable (ODD) dans les pays africains. La décentralisation via la diplomatie des villes peut mieux s’approprier des ODD. Il est pour cela important que les villes africaines s’arriment aux ODD.

Italy and Yugoslavia in the Interwar Period

The signing of the Treaty of Rapallo in 1920 made it possible to find a solution to the Italian-Yugoslav dispute over the north-eastern Adriatic border, a solution that would last substantially until the Italian invasion of the neighbouring kingdom in World War 2. Relations between Italy and Yugoslavia, particularly since the end of the 1920s, with the beginning of the more decidedly revisionist phase of fascist foreign policy regarding the structures of the Danubian-Balkan area, were never easy. However, the signing of the Treaty of Rapallo represented an undoubtedly important moment, which greatly contributed to restore a climate of collaboration between the two countries, heavily jeopardized by border nationalism and by the D’Annunzio’s “impresa di Fiume”, interrupted precisely by the Treaty of Rapallo.

Dans le cadre d’un partenariat entre le Musée des civilisations de l’Europe et de la Méditerranée (Mucem) à Marseille et l’institut Sociétés en Mutation en Méditerranée (SoMuM) à Aix-en-Provence, il est proposé le recrutement d’un·e chercheur·seuse postdoctorant·e à compter du 1er octobre 2020. Le ou la postdoctorant·e mènera un projet de recherche sur le thème « Vivre en temps de crise. Une approche anthropologique par les objets », en lien avec un axe scientifique de l’institut SoMuM ainsi qu’une enquête collecte du Mucem. L’appel à candidatures est ouvert à toutes les disciplines des sciences humaines et sociales représentées dans SoMuM.

Il ne s’agit pas ici de refaire une énième histoire des cahiers de doléances produits par les communautés et états lors du processus électoral de 1789 ou de s’interroger sur ce que leur contenu nous apprend des souhaits, des désirs et de la culture des populations, mais de recenser les différentes formes prises par les réponses aux sollicitations des pouvoirs - qu’ils soient politique, religieux, syndical, associatif, économique - et leur évolution dans le temps, de comprendre comment ces réponses sont élaborées, mises en formes, émises, reçues, traitées, archivées et publiées, avant comme après l’irruption des technologies numériques. Bref de les analyser sous l’angle de la diplomatique, de l’archivistique, de l’histoire des institutions et de l’histoire de l’édition et de comprendre ce que ces sciences et techniques peuvent apporter à la connaissance de notre société politique et à sa manière de traiter la parole d’en-bas.

Language and Performance: Moving across Discourses and Practices in a Globalized World
European Journal of Theatre and Performance
The European Journal of Theatre and Performance is inviting submissions for its next issue. Against the backdrop of a deeply diversified and often divided global stage, this issue wants to reconsider the fairly strenuous debate on the relationship between language and performance, which has surfaced repeatedly yet in various guises in the field of the performing arts. The editors more specifically invite contributions that critically inquire into how language either enables or impedes the creation and development of performance works, the dissemination of scholarly research, or the reconciliation of local traditions with international tendencies in both the arts and academia. The overarching aim is to shed new light on the intricate connections between language and performance by focusing on the various ways in which performance always operates on the microlevel of concrete practices as well as in dialogue with the macrolevel of larger sociopolitical and cultural contexts.

L’étudiant(e) devra réaliser un système d’information géographique compilant l’ensemble des ré-seaux hydrauliques et des zones humides des forêts qui ont déjà fait l’objet d’une couverture Lidar (données accessibles via l’ONF).

Ce numéro de la Revue des politiques sociales et familiales s’attachera à mettre en lumière les stratégies de retrait vis-à-vis des institutions (entendues au sens large du terme) de certains parents au nom de conceptions alternatives de l’engendrement, de la filiation ou de la parentalité aux normes dominantes. Enfin, l’emploi du terme de « parent », sans distinction de sexe, dissimule les déclinaisons de cette fonction ou de ce statut suivant que le parent est un homme ou une femme. Ce numéro souhaite aussi interroger la façon dont les injonctions portées par les expert·e·s et les pratiques des (futurs) parents se déclinent entre paternité et maternité.

Tracing the city: city symphonies in reverse and the cinematic apparatus

What are city symphonies reflecting in their contemporary cinematic versions? How are filmic dispositifscapturing and documenting the city as an entity which is both subjective and intersubjective? As Richard Koeck suggests, in his essay Cine-spaces : Cinematic spaces in architecture and cities (2012), it is perhaps from the vantage point of the of the simulacrum that we must understand cinema's inscription within the post-modern city. Indeed, what if we began to think about the city as a visual system based on movements, lights and bodies – one we could explore in a cinematic, cinetic or kinesthesit way? By using film as a lens through which to see urban spaces and places, it would be less a question of showing the placement of architecture, but of seeing how much post-modern architecture, for instance, is a cinematic phenomenon, an urban décor in motion (Las Vegas, Dubai, Macao…).

Session at The Renaissance Society of America Annual Meeting 2021
This panel aims to bring together coordinators of digital projects - completed or in progress - around the lexicon and the scientific edition of texts of artistic or technical literature, with researchers who have adopted this terminological approach to analyze in an innovative way well known or unpublished texts, related to the production, the practice of the arts and interpretative theories derived from practice and which marked the history of taste. The papers will aim to provoke discussions about the method, contributions and perspectives of the lexicographic approach in the artistic field, in an interdisciplinary logic, in order to federate language historians, digital humanities specialists and art historians.
