  Inter-disciplinary Approaches and (to) Political Science

  PhD Symposium of the Cyprus Association of Political Science

  The Symposium aims at giving the opportunity to PhD students based in Cyprus as well as abroad who are interested in inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary approaches in the social sciences to present their work, critically discuss the work of their peers, as well as engage in a process of learning and developing further their ideas, skills and previous research. Particularly encouraged to attend are those who are motivated to integrate political science with other disciplines, such as sociology, anthropology, social geography, social psychology, economics and history or those whose work is relevant beyond their immediate discipline. Three questions drive the collective explorations that constitute the Symposium’s logic. Are there connections between political science and other social sciences that remain unexplored so far? In which ways can the doctoral and further study of politics benefit and be benefitted by inter-disciplinary approaches? How can debates around research design, methods and more broadly the organization of scientific study be cross-fertilized most efficiently across the social sciences?

  Méthodologie de l’apprentissage des langues. Innover : pourquoi et comment ?

  Ces dernières décennies ont vu émerger et mettre en place de nouvelles méthodes didactiques et pédagogiques (approche communicative, perspective actionnelle, exploitation intensive des TIC(E), perspective socioconstructiviste) de l’apprentissage des langues. Des besoins nouveaux de formation linguistique liés à la mondialisation, de nouvelles possibilités offertes par les technologies de la communication ont pu conduire à la réforme de politiques éducatives (fédéralisation des politiques linguistiques, refonte de programmes nationaux d’enseignement des langues, modernisation des systèmes de certification en langues) ou à la production de matériels d’apprentissage novateurs.

  From Xenakis to the present: the Continuum in music and architecture

  Continuum 2016

  Since the Classical era and the Middle Ages, and in particular since Plato’s Timeus, the concept of continuum has preoccupied thinkers. In the early 20^th century, this notion was reactivated by the theory of relativity as well as other theories such as the uncertainty principle, changing our perception of the world, and consequently artistic discourse. We propose to examine where we are today in terms of the concept of continuum, both in theory and in practice. An interdisciplinary approach will enable us to evaluate the relevancy of this notion, comparing and contrasting it with other methodologies, during this international conference.
