The MidWestern American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies invites proposals for papers and panels for its meeting, 10-13 October 2002, on the campus of Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri, hosted by William J. Burling.
The theme of this year's meeting is "Historicism and the Long Eighteenth Century," and we are especially interested in papers related to issues and contexts of historicism. As usual, we welcome proposals from all disciplines on all topics related to the long eighteenth century.
The featured speaker at the meeting will be Robert D. Hume, Evan Pugh Professor at Pennsylvania State University and author of numerous books and articles on Restoration and eighteenth-century drama, theatre, music, opera history, and critical theory.
Proposals may be sent by 1 May 2002 to Dr. William J. Burling, Department of English, Southwest Missouri State University, Springfield, MO 65804. Enquiries and proposals also accepted by email: wjb692f@smsu.edu.
Proposals for pre-assembled panels are welcome. Papers for such panels may be solicited via the MWASECS website: email your call for papers to the secretary-treasurer at connery@oakland.edu for posting on the Call for Papers for Panels page: http://www2.oakland.edu/english/mwasecs/panelcalls02.html.
