The war film is an important genre and this conference will study the ways in which films have depicted war for film and tv audiences. Most presentations will compare/contrast the reel history with the real history. Topics include films and tv programs related to war and peace ; roles of men and women in the films ; genre analysis ; news and video in the perception of wars. Traditional propaganda productions such as the Frank Capra Why We Fight series as well as more recent productions— or earlier ones, for that matter.
