Summary

Dyes in History and Archaeology (DHA), an international group of experts with multi­disciplinary backgrounds, has met every year since 1982 to discuss chemical, analytical, biological, historical, and technological aspects of natural and synthetic dyestuffs.

Dyes in History and Archaeology (DHA), an international group of experts with multi­disciplinary backgrounds, has met every year since 1982 to discuss chemical, analytical, biological, historical, and technological aspects of natural and synthetic dyestuffs.

The 29th DHA Meeting will take place from 11-12 November 2010 in Portugal. The meeting will be co-organized by three research units of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (NDCR, Requimte and CHAM), in collaboration with the University of Évora (UE), Institute of Museums and Conservation (IMC), Nacional Museum of Ancient Art (MNAA), and Wool Museum (ML).

The conference will focus on all issues concerning dyes, namely their production, diverse properties, and historical implications. The topics presented will be of interest to conservators, curators, art historians, craftsmen, artists and scientists; for more details see.

Abstracts for papers and posters in English (max. 500 words) should be submitted by email to mjm@dq.fct.unl.pt or coloquios.cham@fcsh.unl.pt by 30 July 2010. The abstracts will be published as pre-prints during the conference. After the conference,the presentations will be published in the regular series of DHA publications. The final programme will be available in August on this site.

The fee for the three-day conference (including the welcome reception, coffee and lunches during the conference, and book of abstracts) is 140 EUROS for registration before 15 September 2010 and 160 EUROS thereafter (until 15 October 2010).
