25ème Conférence annuelle – Society for the Study of French History

Thème: "Célébrer la France"

Nous sollicitons des contributions de trente minutes (en français ou en anglais) touchant à n’importe quel aspect de l’histoire française, du bas Moyen Âge à l’époque moderne.  Nous sollicitons également des propositions de sessions comprenant deux ou trois contributions.

Nous avons confirmé la participation en tant qu’intervenants principaux de Lynn Hunt (UCLA), Alice Gérard (Paris I) et Alain Corbin (Paris I).

Notre thème n’exclut aucun sujet spécifique. Nous souhaitons que les contributions reflètent toute la diversité de l’histoire française en tant que discipline. Néanmoins, nous serions particulièrement intéressés par des contributions centrées sur les sujets suivants:

• Mémoire, nation et identité dans l'histoire française
• Histoire des festivals culturels, des fêtes et des célébrations
• Considérations sur les personnages clé de l'histoire de France
• La construction d'une histoire, ou narration, nationale
• Visions contradictoires du passé
• Approches théoriques et méthodologies pour les idées de célébration, mémoire, et la création de discours nationaux

Les thèmes ci-dessus ne sont que des suggestions, et nous n'attendons bien entendu pas que votre intervention s'y limite. Les soumissions devraient être envoyées par email à Dr Isabel DiVanna (id239@cam.ac.uk)

Theme: Celebrating France

Proposals are invited for thirty-minute papers (in either English or French) on any aspect of French history from the late medieval to the modern period. Proposals for panels of two or three papers are also invited.

We have confirmed the following keynote speakers: Lynn Hunt (UCLA), Alice Gérard (Paris I) and Alain Corbin (Paris I).

Our theme is not exclusive as to subject. Panel-paper contributions can properly reflect the broad diversity of the discipline of French History. However, we would be particularly interested in receiving proposals in and around the following subjects:

• Memory, nation and identity in French history
• History of cultural festivals, fêtes and celebratory events
• Considerations on key personages of French history
• The construction of a national history or narrative
• Conflicting views about the past
• Theoretical and methodological approaches to the topics of celebrations, memory and the creation of national discourses

We therefore invite the submission of papers that explore this theme from various angles and perspectives. Submissions should be sent by email to Dr Isabel DiVanna (id239@cam.ac.uk)
