New Perspectives on Surrealism and Its Legacies
Eight Annual PhD Symposium, Centre for the Studies of Surrealism and Its Legacies
Published on lundi, janvier 03, 2011
Summary
Announcement
In conjunction with the forthcoming Joan Miró exhibition at Tate Modern, this one day PhD student symposium, hosted by the Centre for the Study of Surrealism and its Legacies, aims to showcase fresh interpretations of surrealist thought and practice from across a diverse range of academic disciplines.
In the spirit of the original Bureau for Surrealist Research, which conceived of surrealism as a mode of research, we encourage papers that bring philosophy, politics, psychoanalysis, religion, literature or art into new, and possibly speculative, constellations with the visual and textual practices of surrealism.
We invite proposals for 20 minute papers from PhD students working in any discipline whose research engages with surrealism and/or its contemporary legacies.
Pease send brief biographies and proposals of no more than 500 words
by 25th February 2011 to:
- Kimberley Marwood kmarwo@essex.ac.uk
- Dr Silvia Loreti silvia.loreti@manchester.ac.uk
Selected papers may be considered for publication in Papers of Surrealism
