Ce séminaire organisé dans le cadre du projet de recherche Baguala (« Usages des  BAses de données Géoenvironnementales d'Utilisation et d'Accès Libre en Amérique du sud et France », UMR PRODIG 8586) vous propose de rencontrer trois praticiens de l’analyse d’hyperliens, qui présenteront un bilan des avancées récentes dans l’étude de cette composante essentielle du web, présentant des méthodes et démarches auxquelles font appel de plus en plus fréquemment la sociologie, les sciences politiques, les sciences de l’information ou encore la géographie. 
 
Parmi les thèmes traités, seront abordés en particulier les modes de constitution de corpus de données web, les choix de représentation et de cartographie de ces corpus, pointant notamment l’intérêt et les limites d’une telle démarche pour  les sciences sociales. Le séminaire est ouvert à toute personne intéressée par ce thème et par les outils développés dans ce cadre, autant comme objet central d’étude qu’en complément de projets de recherche faisant appel ponctuellement à une analyse du web. Le séminaire se tiendra en anglais.

Les intervenants

• Juliette De Maeyer is a doctoral student in the department of Information and Communication sciences at the ULB (Université Libre de Bruxelles). She is a FRS-FNRS research fellow, and her PhD project involves studying online journalism dynamics through the lens of hypertextuality and hyperlinks. http://juliettedm.wordpress.com  
• Mike Thelwall is Professor of Information Science and leader of  the Statistical Cybermetrics Research Group at the University of Wolverhampton, UK. Mike has developed a wide range of tools for gathering and analysing web data, including hyperlink analysis, sentiment analysis and content analysis for Twitter, YouTube, MySpace, blogs and the web in general.

• Mathieu Jacomy  is assistant researcher at Médialab (Sciences Po University) and Research and Developement leader of the « TIC Migrations » project (FMSH & Telecom ParisTech), he created the Gephi software and developped the Navicrawler, two tools for the mapping of the web. He teaches controversies mapping at Sciences Po.
