Résumé
The EDIT project, led by Dr Aengus Ward (University of Birmingham), aims to create a virtual space for the Estoria de Espanna with the long-term aim of producing an electronic edition of this important chronicle. There will be four annual colloquia during the project and the first one will be held at the University of Birmingham on the 10th and 11th of april of 2014.

2.00 Estoria de Espanna Transcription and Encoding Workshop
This workshop will demonstrate the transcription system for the project and will show how the transcriptions are carried out within Textual Communities.
At the end of this workshop, attendees will be able to produce their own transcriptions and would test, first hand, the Estoria de Espanna transcription system.
We will cover:
1. The transcription system:
1.1 Developing the transcription and encoding system for the Estoria de Espanna
1.2 Marking up to display different texts
1.3 Marking up variation within a single manuscript
2. Using Textual Communities:
2.1 What is Textual Communities
2.2 Working with Textual Communities
2.3 Creating an account in Textual Communities
2.4 Joining the project
2.5 Transcribing, saving, committing
3. Crowdsourcing
3.1 Why crowdsourcing can help us with this (and other projects)
3.2 How you might contribute to Estoria de Espanna (without having to carry out transcriptions yourself)
