Argument
What are socioeconomic rights and what can their history tell us about modern concerns for well-being? This half-day workshop will explore aspects of socioeconomic rights in history, from the eighteenth-century European Enlightenment through to today. Speakers will discuss the political and philosophical debates over socioeconomic rights and seek to explain why these rights have tended to be less visible and more contested than civil and political rights.
