Le symposium Autohistorias se veut un moment fédérateur de réflexion sur le rôle à jouer par l’institution artistique dans un monde pris dans le tourment de polarisations nationalistes et séparatistes, tiraillée dans des débats identitaires favorisant une fragmentation croissante entre les individus.

The Autohistorias symposium will be a moment of reflec­tion regarding the role of arts insti­tu­tions in a world tor­mented by nation­alist polar­iza­tions, a world shat­tered by new bor­ders and debates on iden­tity that fur­ther sep­a­rate indi­vid­uals from one another. Autohistorias will con­vene about 40 pro­fes­sionals engaged in re-writing art his­tory.

Le sym­po­sium Autohistorias se veut un moment fédé­ra­teur de réflexion sur le rôle à jouer par l’ins­ti­tu­tion artis­ti­que dans un monde pris dans le tour­ment de pola­ri­sa­tions natio­na­lis­tes et sépa­ra­tis­tes, tiraillée dans des débats iden­ti­tai­res favo­ri­sant une frag­men­ta­tion crois­sante entre les indi­vi­dus. Une qua­ran­taine de pro­fes­sion­nels enga­gés dans un tra­vail de réé­cri­ture de l’his­toire de l’art élaboreront col­lec­ti­ve­ment un récit commun fait d’une mul­ti­pli­cité de foyers artis­ti­ques (lieux d’art, écoles, col­lec­tifs ou événements) et de tra­jec­toi­res indi­vi­duel­les d’artis­tes ayant cir­culé au cours du XXe et XXIe siècle à tra­vers plu­sieurs cultu­res et hori­zons de pensée. Nous réflé­chi­rons avec eux à com­ment l’ins­ti­tu­tion au sens large et les musées peu­vent mieux repré­sen­ter cette diver­sité tout en déve­lop­pant la recher­che et les connexions avec une plu­ra­lité d’acteurs de la société. Le patri­moine, l’archive et les col­lec­tions muséa­les seront mobi­li­sés pour remet­tre en ques­tion leur mise en forme, mise en ordre et mise en cir­cu­la­tion. Nous inven­te­rons des uto­pies comme des formes de vie alter­na­ti­ves pro­po­sant d’expé­ri­men­ter des métho­des d’ensei­gne­ment de péda­go­gie cher­chant à mieux habi­ter les fron­tiè­res, pour mieux les dés­ta­bi­li­ser.

Ce sym­po­sium s’ins­crit dans le cadre des 40 ans du Centre Pompidou et cons­ti­tue le temps fort de dis­cus­sions et de débats du pro­gramme Autohistorias déployé sur l’année 2017 sur nos deux lieux d’acti­vi­tés : le centre d’art et de recher­che Bétonsalon et la Villa Vassilieff. Il est sou­tenu par le Ministère de la Culture et de la Communication et par la Société des Auteurs dans les Arts Graphiques et Plastiques – ADAGP. L’ADAGP gère les droits des auteurs des arts visuels (pein­tres, sculp­teurs, pho­to­gra­phes, des­si­na­teurs, archi­tec­tes, ...) et consa­cre une partie des droits perçus pour la copie privée à l’aide à la créa­tion et à la dif­fu­sion des œuvres.

Argument

The Autohistorias symposium will be a moment of reflec­tion regarding the role of arts insti­tu­tions in a world tor­mented by nation­alist polar­iza­tions, a world shat­tered by new bor­ders and debates on iden­tity that fur­ther sep­a­rate indi­vid­uals from one another. Autohistorias will con­vene about 40 pro­fes­sionals engaged in re-writing art his­tory. We will elab­o­rate col­lec­tively a new shared narrative, building on a mul­ti­plicity of artistic forums (art spaces, schools, col­lec­tives, or events) and indi­vidual itineraries, focusing on artists who nav­i­gated through sev­eral cul­tures and intel­lec­tual spheres over the 20th and 21st cen­turies. Together, we will look into how insti­tu­tions and museums can best embody this diver­sity, while devel­oping research pro­grams and working jointly with a variety of civil society actors. We will ques­tion the pro­duc­tion, clas­si­fi­ca­tion, and dis­sem­i­na­tion of her­itage, archives, and museum col­lec­tions. Experimenting with teaching and knowl­edge trans­mis­sion, Autohistorias will shape a space amenable to inventing utopias and alter­na­tive ways of life.

This sym­po­sium is part of the 40th anniver­sary of the Centre Pompidou. It is the high­light of debates and dis­cus­sions that occurred in the con­text of the Autohistorias pro­gram that has been deployed in our two sites of activity; Bétonsalon – Center for Art and Research and Villa Vassilieff, over the course of 2017.

This event is spon­sored by the Ministère de la Culture et de la Communication and by ADAGP Society of the Authors of Graphic and Plastic Arts. The ADAGP man­ages the rights of authors working in the field of visual arts (painters, sculp­tors, pho­tog­ra­phers, draughtsmen, archi­tects, ...) and ded­i­cates part of the fees col­lected for pri­vate copying to the cre­ation and dis­sem­i­na­tion of works.
