Em 2017, celebrando-se o bicentenário de três momentos marcantes da história de Portugal, de Espanha, do Brasil e do mundo iberoamericano, a chamada “Revolução de 1817”, em Pernambuco, a “conspiração” do general Gomes Freire de Andrade, contra a tutela britânica, em Portugal, e o falhado pronunciamento liberal do general Luis Lacy y Gauthier, na Catalunha, a favor da Constituição de 1812, e face à importância histórica e historiográfica destes eventos, o Centro de História da Universidade de Lisboa (CH-ULisboa), em colaboração com a Direcção de História e Cultura Militar, organiza nos dias 11 e 12 de Outubro, na Academia Militar, um colóquio internacional que contribuirá para debater a crise dos impérios ibéricos no dealbar de Oitocentos e a emergência dos liberalismos e a politização das sociedades ibero-americanas.

In 2017 we celebrate the bicentennial of three remarkable moments in the history of Portugal, Spain, Brazil and the Ibero-American world, the so-called “Revolution of 1817”, in Pernambuco; the “conspiracy” of General Gomes Freire de Andrade against the British tutelage, in Portugal; and the failed liberal pronouncement of General Luis Lacy y Gauthier, in Catalonia, in favor of the Constitution of 1812. In view of the historical and historiographic importance of these events, the Centre for History of the University of Lisbon (CH-ULisboa), in collaboration with the Directorate of History and Military Culture, is organizing an international conference that aims to contribute to debate the crisis of the Iberian empires in the early nineteenth century and the emergence of liberalism and the politicization of Ibero-American societies.

Submissão de propostas

até ao dia 1 de Setembro de 2017.

Cada proposta submetida deverá conter:

• Nome sob o qual publica;
• Uma nota biográfica (máximo de 100 palavras);
• O título da comunicação na língua em que será apresentada e em inglês;
• O resumo da comunicação (máximo de 300 palavras);
• Três palavras-chave, na língua em que será apresentada a comunicação, e em inglês;

Argument

In 2017 we celebrate the bicentennial of three remarkable moments in the history of Portugal, Spain, Brazil and the Ibero-American world, the so-called «Revolution of 1817», in Pernambuco; the «conspiracy» of General Gomes Freire de Andrade against the British tutelage, in Portugal; and the failed liberal pronouncement of General Luis Lacy y Gauthier, in Catalonia, in favor of the Constitution of 1812. In view of the historical and historiographic importance of these events, the Centre for History of the University of Lisbon (CH-ULisboa), in collaboration with the Directorate of History and Military Culture, is organizing an international conference that aims to contribute to debate the crisis of the Iberian empires in the early nineteenth century and the emergence of liberalism and the politicization of Ibero-American societies. Taking place at the Military Academy on October 11-12, 2017, the conference will be organized on the following axis: «Revolts and revolutions in the Atlantic world»; «Wars and armies at the end of the Old Regime»; «Political culture, networks and spaces of sociability» and «Institutions and reformism».

• Short bio blurb (maximum 100 words);
• Presentation title in the language it will be presented and in English;
• Presentation abstract (maximum 300 words);
