This topical issue aims to gather current research on underlying mechanisms as well as economic consequences of scientific and innovative activities in a broad spectrum from the individual level analysis of the production of scientific articles and/or patents to sectoral level analysis of R&D activities and policies.

The scope of this Topical Issue includes, but is not limited to, the following areas of research:

  • Analysis of academic labor markets
  • Cost efficiency of science
  • Economics of patents
  • Gender and academic careers
  • Life cycle analysis of innovators/scientists
  • Patents and trade
  • R&D activities and innovation
  • Scientific productivity
  • Scientometric analysis of academic publications
  • Sociology of collaboration
  • Tax incentives for R&D and multi-national firms

The deadline for submissions is September 16, 2018.
