Que pouvons-nous attendre de l’évolution politique à Hong Kong et des rapports de cette ville avec le continent et le monde extérieur ? Ce colloque, organisé par le professeur Lun Zhang, tente d’apporter certains éclairages à ces questions. Plusieurs universitaires et intellectuels hongkongais importants, à la fois acteurs et observateurs privilégiés de ces protestations et de l’évolution politique et culturelle des dernières décennies à Hong Kong seront présents pour partager leurs analyses. Ils dialogueront également avec des spécialistes français de Hong Kong.

What factors are at the origin of these protest movements? What will be the impact in the formation of a new Hong Kong identity? What can be expected from the political evolution in Hong Kong and the relations between the city and the continent and the outside world? This symposium, organized by Professor Lun Zhang, attempts to clarify these issues. Several important Hong Kong academics and intellectuals, both actors and privileged observers of these protests and the political and cultural evolution of these last few decades to Hong Kong will be present to show their analysis. They will also dialogue with French Hong Kong specialists.

Hong Kong, cette « perle orientale » considérée depuis longtemps comme une ville de commerce par excellence, connaît des protestations politiques de grande envergure depuis l’été 2019. Le monde entier en est témoin à travers les images diffusées abondamment dans les médias et la presse internationale. De nombreux signes à l’intérieur et à l’extérieur de la Chine montrent que cet immense pays et ses relations avec le monde entrent dans une nouvelle période de grande incertitude. En ce moment historique, ce qui se passe à Hong Kong, ville symbolique de la modernité en Chine, nous livre certains messages pour l’avenir de Hong Kong et de la Chine.

Hong Kong, the “pearl of the Orient” and long considered as a quintessential commercial city, has seen serious political protests since summer 2019. The whole world has witnessed the images broadcast in the media and international press. Numerous signs inside and outside China show that this immense country and its relations with the world are entering a new period of great uncertainty. In this historic moment, what is happening in Hong Kong, the symbolic city of modern China, delivers certain messages for the future of Hong Kong and China.

What factors are at the origin of these protest movements? What will be the impact in the formation of a new Hong Kong identity?
