Rethinking emancipation III
Repenser l'émancipation III
Published on mardi, janvier 21, 2020
Summary
The Rethinking Emancipation seminar for its third year continues to focus on critical thinking. As an extension of what has been done in previous years, various authors will be reviewed and put to the test to question both their silences and contributions on emancipation. The contributions of Bourdieu and Foucault will be tackled successively, then those of the second Frankfurt school with Habermas and American pragmatism with Dewey complemented by the elements on French pragmatism with Boltanski and Latour.

Argument
The originality of this seminar is also due to the fact that it refuses to approach the subject from a Western-centric perspective and that it opens with a presentation of important contributions of the critical thought of the South, questioning the implicit choices made in the North, with the philosophy of liberation, the decolonial thought or the epistemologies of the South for example.
Finally, it is characterized by a listening of the concerns of associative actors who question the theoretical positions from the difficulties in which they are plunged and ambiguities of the concrete attempts of emancipation. In particular, the progress and limits of the new municipalism and the conditions likely to reinvent the association are considered.
This 3rd year will alternate sessions continuing the seminar in the form of the two previous editions and sessions focused on an opening to the South in co-construction with associations.
