Adossé au projet Utpictura18 à travers sa base de données iconographique (peinture d’histoire, enluminures, gravures d’illustration) et sa revue Rubriques nouvellement créée, ce numéro de revue sera ouvert aux spécialistes d’histoire, d’histoire de l’art, de littérature ou encore d’études médiatiques désireux d’étudier au fil d’un long XIXe siècle l’illustration des constructions et déconstructions d’un « roman national », à travers ses épisodes marquants et sur toute une variété de supports liant texte et image (manuels d’histoire, presse, livres illustrés, décors de théâtre, etc.).

Whose Global History? Perspectives from the Global South and Beyond
This online Summer School seeks to question what Global History is primarily about, who it is written by, and who it is written for. By questioning the epistemic inequalities and exclusionary processes that shape the field, and considering actors, conceptual tools and historical positions that originate from different parts of the world, we aim to outline a global history that is meaningfully shaped by perspectives from the Global South.

Ukraine Under Fire: The Visual Arts in Ukraine and Abroad Since 2014
To say that Ukraine has a complicated relationship with Russia is an understatement: the region was under direct rule in the imperial period, experienced a period of freedom after 1917, followed by repressive rule through large periods of the Soviet era, and then regained independence in 1991. Now, Ukraine faces Russian hostility and the violation of its territorial integrity, which began in February 2014 with the occupations of the Crimea and Donbas region. I solicit abstracts from scholars, critics, gallerists, and artists whose work reflects upon the role of the visual arts during the current conflict in this region. Their topics should explore how artists have dealt with the Russian invasion and other forms of hostilities in recent years.

Agency and action in Czech, Slovak, Hungarian and Polish émigré communities during the Cold War
This special webinar celebrates the launch of the project’s public heritage exhibition atkadocheritage.be. This online exhibition contains a selection of contributions produced by the project’s partners, outlining a wealth of civil society mobilizations by Central and Eastern European migrants in the Low Countries during the period 1933-1989. The exhibition’s purpose is to emphasize the potential that forgotten stories like these can play in curating the heritage, commemorating, and documenting the histories of the unique circumstances that these Central European émigré communities faced, living in Belgium and the Netherlands, during this tumultuous period of modern history.

The indigenous gaze – Decolonizing visual cultures
This Webinar Series seeks to continue the ongoing discussions in decolonial thought and visual practices beyond Western-centred conceptualisations of the image. Throughout five sessions, scholars, artists, and curators, will critically approach the concept of the 'gaze' in visual culture, interrogating it from historical, cultural, and ontological standpoints, and addressing the Indigenisation of the image as a means for decolonizing the fields of visual culture and contemporary art studies.

In this volume, we would like to analyze in depth the paths taken by the 20th and 21st century Latin American and Caribbean letters in relation to the experience of the black diaspora in dialogue with the visual arts, as well as in relation to the main themes, forms and techniques used by artist, playwrights, poets, storytellers and writers. In a context of increasing violence and intolerance towards minorities in Latin America, we will welcome analyses that focus on the relationship between literature and the resistance of the cultures created by the black diaspora.

La revue Langues et cultures est une revue scientifique semestrielle internationale en libre accès paraissant en langue française mais sans exclure les autres langues. Elle est éditée par le laboratoire LDP, langue, discours et plurilinguisme (université Ahmed Draia, Adrar, Algérie) et destinée à une communauté scientifique multidisciplinaire. Elle se propose de publier gratuitement des numéros thématiques s’inscrivant dans une perspective interdisciplinaire telles que la linguistique, la didactique, la sociolinguistique, l’analyse du discours et la littérature.

Revue « Études internationales »
Ce numéro spécial de la revue Études internationales a l’ambition de proposer de nouvelles perspectives de recherches sur l’océan Indien. Le premier objectif est de proposer un nouveau cadre conceptuel de l’internationalisation des processus de territorialisation grâce à des recherches aréales sur l’océan Indien. Ce numéro a vocation à montrer de manière empirique que les méthodes, les outils, les concepts de deux disciplines, à savoir les relations internationales et la géopolitique, sont à même de proposer des analyses fructueuses de la complexité des questions de territorialisation et de l’internationalisation des stratégies des acteurs au XXIe siècle.

Jigoro Kano, figure inspirante pour l’éducation
Jigoro Kano (1860-1938), fondateur du judo Kodokan est avant tout un éducateur. Non pas seulement reconnu par les fonctions institutionnelles qu’il a remplies au sein de l’éducation nationale japonaise, mais parce qu’à travers le judo (voie de la souplesse), il a développé la philosophie d’une démarche qui lui est propre et qui, sans doute, est universelle. Elle tient en deux maximes principales : « Seiryoku zenyo », la bonne utilisation de l’énergie ; « Jita Kyoei », entraide et prospérité mutuelle. Pour de très nombreuses raisons, dont celles ci-dessus, Jigoro Kano est une figure inspirante pour l’éducation que nous explorerons les 25, 26 et 27 mai 2023.

Revue « Pagaille, revue de littératures et médias comparés », n° 3
Ce troisième numéro de Pagaille propose de réfléchir à la manière dont la fiction s’est souvent nourrie d’un élan rétrotopique pour construire des univers parallèles, des mondes possibles, des « utopies régressives » (Murvai, 2018), caractérisés par un même mouvement de retour vers un passé idéalisé, contrepoint salutaire à un présent décevant ou projection réflexive permettant de dialoguer avec le monde contemporain, de l’enrichir, de rêver à ce qu’il aurait pu être. Ce phénomène est-il bien une « constante de l’esprit humain confronté au temps » comme l’affirment Bénédicte Brémard et Marc Rolland dans De l’âge d’or aux regrets, ou est-il un trait particulièrement saillant de nos sociétés actuelles emmurées dans une crise de l’imaginaire ?

Cette conférence en ligne offre un espace de discussions sur la diversité des formes discursives utilisées pour évoquer le passé, les nombreux problèmes mondiaux et crises planétaires qui nous ont affectés et nous affectent encore aujourd’hui, et sur la manière dont ceux-ci ont été reflétés, communiqués et modifiés dans les médias de masse et les réseaux sociaux grâce à l’emploi de stratégies de més/désinformation.

Teaching film practices in higher education: historical and contemporary perspectives
Research on art pedagogy has been expanding in recent years. The research project “The practice of cinema in higher education: for a comparative approach to the teaching of film practice in art schools” has sought to fill in several scientific gaps in this field of research. The present call for papers welcomes texts dealing with the teaching of cinematographic practices in higher education, and particularly in schools dedicated to the teaching of the arts, including cinema, in France and abroad.

Pour l’année 2023 le thème retenu par ACALAN pour célébrer la semaine des langues nationales est : « Langues africaines pour une sécurité alimentaire durable, un développement culturel et socioéconomique ». Au Burkina Faso, les chercheurs et enseignant chercheurs entendent répondre à cet appel par un appel à contribution pour un ouvrage collectif afin d’accompagner les efforts du pays en matière de promotion des langues nationales à travers la commission nationale des langues du Burkina (CNLB). L’objectif principal de cet appel à contribution est d’accroitre la sensibilisation et l’appropriation des langues du Burkina et d’Afrique en examinant des moyens pragmatiques pour les autonomiser et les rendre pertinentes pour la vie des Africains.
