Take part in France's very first transdisciplinary scientific event on misopedics (which is to children what misogyny is to women). The domination of children by adults has been extensively studied by researchers around the world. Especially as it is by far the most widespread form of domination in our societies. In France it is so widespread and pervasive that we are not even necessarily aware of it. It's high time French research got on board.

Tele-Visions: Technologies of Ubiquity in the Visual Arts (19th-21st centuries)
Seminar 2024-2025
Tele-Visions is a research program created by IMAGO-Cultures Visuelles (HiCSA, University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne). It brings together a body of recent work on the influence of emission, transmission and reception technologies in the visual arts and visual culture, from the 19th century to the present. Beyond the medium of television itself, the plural “tele-visions” refers to the variety of remote viewing and image transmission techniques which, from semaphores to wireless telegraphy and up to fiber optics and contemporary networks, have configured new models for the circulation and transmission of images. Dialoguing with the history of science and technology as well as with media archaeology, the contributors to the seminar will explore broad topics such as the joint evolution of perceptual regimes and remote transmission techniques, the modalities of “prosthetic vision,” the material effects of image transmission and the spatio-temporal issues inherent to network dynamics.

Communication, Information, Politics and Culture in the U.S.
Médiamerica is a seminar on American news media organized by researchers working in France. Its aim is to cultivate research on the links between communication, politics, culture, and the processes by which information is produced, circulated, and given form, focusing on the North American context. Médiamerica brings together researchers with varied backgrounds to explore these issues from both historical and contemporary perspectives. The seminar offers a space for scholarly reflection and debate, to consider emergent phenomena in news and communication, as well as the ways in which the academic community on both sides of the Atlantic conceptualize such phenomena. This initiative seeks to build bridges between anglophone studies and communication studies, encouraging dialogue between different methodological approaches and benefiting from an intercultural perspective.

Hermeneutical Rationality and the Future of the Humanities
The set of challenges facing the Humanities today is an opportunity to rethink their future. This conference puts forward a twofold objective. On the one hand, it intends to explore the extent to which the hermeneutical paradigm of the Humanities (Schleiermacher, Dilthey, Gadamer, Ricœur, Taylor), which emphasizes the interpretive core of these disciplines and their contribution to human moral development can still provide meaningful answers to these challenges. On the other hand, it aims to intervene, in a reflective and critical manner, in the debates on the value, need and possible shape of the Humanities in the future.

Diachronic and transnational perspectives on vogue magazine, from the archives to the Classroom
Nous nous intéresserons en particulier à l’histoire de Vogue au prisme de l’éducation, et nous tenterons d’explorer les différentes façons dont des dynamiques éducatives ont été à l’œuvre au sein de, autour de, ou en opposition au célèbre magazine, à travers l’histoire et dans différents contextes nationaux. Dans le cadre du colloque, nous entendons le terme « éducation » d’au moins deux façons, considérant d’une part que le magazine vise à « éduquer » des publics larges et divers de manière plus ou moins directe ; d’autre part, qu’il est souvent « actionné » dans des contextes plus ou moins directement éducatifs. Nous entendons donc « éducation » non seulement dans une acception institutionnelle, mais aussi dans une conception plus large, englobant tout transfert de connaissances.

Animation in Africa and the Arab world
From Geneses to Present Day: challenges and perspectives
Arab and African animation has come into the spotlight, gaining more visibility in international festivals by virtue of a renewal of interest and curiosity for these societies since the popular uprising of 2011. The primary aim of this conference is to bring attention to film production that is still barely explored in film discursive practices and to expand the existing knowledge base on film and animation. The second objective is to map the theoretical field of African and Arab animation by approaching it as a whole.

Le musée Fabre de Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole est un des lieux patrimoniaux emblématiques de la région et compte parmi les plus belles collections publiques françaises. Il conserve depuis 2017 un fonds « François Daulte » constitué du fonds d’archive de l’historien d’art, ainsi qu’un ensemble remarquable de lettres autographes de Frédéric Bazille et de son entourage. Afin de valoriser ce fonds, et plus largement les recherches de François Daulte, il a été décidé l’instauration d’une bourse annuelle d’un montant de 10 000 euros, qui soutiendra des recherches en histoire et en histoire de l’art dans la lignée des champs d’étude de François Daulte.

La « photographie d’architecture (kenchiku shashin 建築写真) » est un sujet vaste et protéiforme, puisque cette notion sera envisagée différemment par les architectes, les urbanistes, les décorateurs d’intérieur, les promoteurs, les éditeurs, les photographes amateurs, les photographes professionnels commissionnés, ou encore les artistes photographes, pour ne citer que quelques profils. C’est justement cette confrontation des acceptions et des utilisations qui nous intéresse. En effet, alors que la photographie d’architecture fait preuve d’une monstration large et régulière depuis le XIXe siècle, par le biais d’albums, de magazines dédiés, de publications en série, d’ouvrages ponctuels, et d’expositions, il n’existe aujourd’hui aucune étude approfondie qui en permette une compréhension globale. Nous souhaitons donc poursuivre sur ce projet de recherche qui vise à définir cette notion en déployant toute sa complexité.

Colloque international du Groupe de recherche en histoire de l’art moderne (GRHAM)
En faisant dialoguer les chercheurs engagés dans l’exploration de ce thème enivrant et interdisciplinaire, le colloque annuel du GRHAM souhaite questionner la notion de « boisson alcoolisée » en France, en Europe et dans le reste monde afin de mieux comprendre les modalités et les enjeux relatifs à sa représentation. Une approche globale des échanges et des consommations dans le monde pourrait éclairer un regard trop souvent centré sur l’Europe. D’autant plus que différents troubles (conflits armés, sécheresses, inondations…) bousculèrent ponctuellement les habitudes des consommateurs européens.

Resonance: The Creative Thrust of “Deep Zouk”
Si le premier colloque international sur le Zouk, en 2019, a traité des trajectoires, des imaginaires et perspectives suivant le concept lacanien d’« hainamoration », ce deuxième colloque s’articule autour du concept chamoisélien de « résonance » pour tenter d'expliciter le processus de création de la musique zouk depuis ses fonts baptismaux. Qu'est-ce qui conditionne l’imaginaire créatif de nos démiurges du zouk et leur permet d’appréhender le monde ? Ce questionnement se justifie par le fait que beaucoup de musiciens et artistes-chanteurs-interprètes de nos régions, s’ils suivent des formations musicales conventionnelles, il n’en demeure pas moins que pour créer dans la Caraïbe, leurs lignes créatrices s'ancrent authentiquement dans le principe de la « résonance » (conte-danse-rythme), les sources vives des énergies cosmiques, de la vibration du tambour. Ce colloque permettra d’entrer dans les arcanes de la création, de pister et de suivre la trace de certains artistes rompus à l’exercice pour tenter de définir des traits définitoires de ce processus de création du « Deep zouk ».

Cicero’s Epistulae ad Brutum between politics, rhetoric and philosophy
Lecturae Ciceronis 2025
Consacré au corpus épistolaire Ad Brutum, ce colloque s’inscrit dans la nouvelle série de conférences lancée en 2024 par la Société internationale des amis de Cicéron (SIAC) : les Lecturae Ciceronis. L’objectif de ces Lecturae est de rassembler des chercheuses et des chercheurs non sur un thème cicéronien mais sur une œuvre cicéronienne pour en proposer la lecture la plus approfondie possible, en croisant des approches et des méthodes diverses : histoire du texte, étude des sources, étude du contexte, lecture analytique au plus près du texte, analyses lexicales ou synthèses théoriques. L’enjeu premier des Lecturae est d’offrir pour l’œuvre considérée à la fois un état de l’art et des pistes permettant une approche renouvelée, dégagée des a priori et redonnant aux textes ses différents niveaux de sens.

For a world history of the circus from Antiquity to the present day
The aim of this conference is to decompartmentalise these historiographies by inviting researchers in history and, more broadly, in the arts and the social sciences (performing arts, art history, sociology, anthropology, etc.), as well as those involved in the artistic and cultural world, to combine their approaches. This conference sees itself as a first step towards a world history of the circus, while being aware of the limits of such an undertaking. The historiography of the circus is recent, and many aspects remain unexplored. There is a lack of works that build bridges between different national histories. Moreover, some of them have not yet been written. The history of the circus in certain regions of the world and at certain periods remains largely unknown. Consequently, papers taking a local approach may be proposed if they draw attention to these areas where the history of the circus has yet to be written. However, the emphasis will be on comparative or connected, global or even worldwide approaches. The aim will be to highlight intercultural dynamics rather than local particularities.
