This conference is the result of a cooperation between the Wittgenstein-Prize Project ‘Mobility, Microstructes and Personal Agency’ of the FWF (Austrian National Research Foundation), acting as the local host, and the Laboratoire d’Excellence RESMED (Religions et sociétés dans le monde méditerranéen, University of Paris-Sorbonne), the Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS, UMR 8167, Paris), as well as the Institut français d’archéologie orientale (IFAO, Cairo), the École française de Rome (EfR) and the University of Nantes (CRHIA), who have organized the previous two conferences in this series in Rome.

Intellectuals of the Right and Politics in Europe and Latin America

During the interwar period, authoritarian movements and regimes of the right - both of the "old" authoritarian and of the "new" radical varieties - professed their faith in national values but at the same time saw themselves as national agents of an otherwise international intellectual and political wave. Starting from the mid-1920s, a growing sense of shared goals, commonality of vision, and sense of history-making mission led them to draw on each other for inspiration and support. It soon became clear that these movements and regimes embraced ideas from each other, actively studying each other’s discourses and initiatives in the political field. The conference aims to promote a different understanding of the role of intellectuals of the interwar right who perceived themselves as transnational agents “at the service of an idea”.

FORMA privileges the dialogue between disciplines and critical traditions. The subject matter of the articles is open. All the texts, as specified in the System of Arbitration section, have to comply with the guidelines established by the entities in charge of indexing scientific journals, with regard to the plurality of the editorial and scientific committees as well as the selection process and revision of published texts. All articles will undergo a double-blind peer review process.

The 5th international congress “Sport, doping and society” is organized by the Spanish Agency for Health Protection in Sport (AEPSAD) and the Technical University of Madrid (UPM). Under the theme “Think Clean”, there will be presented the results of scientific researches and new methodologies in the field of doping in sport from the specific perspective of Human and Social Sciences. We believe that this initiative will contribute to identify the factors that influence the use of doping substances and methods. From this knowledge we hope to foster future prevention and doping control and to promote ethical behavior in sport.

We are putting together a proposal for one session at the World Congress of Jewish Studies focused on Jewish perceptions of the revolutionary period in Europe (1789-1814). Our goal is to generate a discussion about Jewish responses to the French revolutionary transition and emancipatory paradigm in the European broader context, as we believe that Jewish sympathies and resistances should be reconsidered from a multidisciplinary perspective involving political as well as cultural, religious, social and economic issues.

The purpose of this volume is to provide an authoritative state of the art review of research on education in the borderlands worldwide. The authors may submit chapters dealing with, amongst others, intercultural, identity, pedagogical, and representational issues. Any context of education is of interest to the editors (kindergarten to adult education as well as from formal to informal and even non-formal education). In addition to empirical works the editors also welcome theoretical contributions exploring the problematics of education in borderlands.

Rereading Aristotle, Dionysius of Halicarnassus, and Demetrius through the lens of contemporary narratology provides scholarship with a potentially fruitful perspective for investigating the relationship between historical narrative and other forms of literature. In particular, the reflections of Dionysius and Demetrius on narrative style at the micro-level, as well as those of Aristotle on history and tragedy as ways of representing knowledge at the macro-level, might enable historians and comparatists to focus on the question of how pan-European historical narratives are related to the drama of their times.

Single-author books devoted to any aspect of the visual arts of the United States and published in the three previous calendar years are eligible. To nominate a book, send a letter (not to exceed one page in length) explaining the work’s significance to the field of American art history and discussing the quality of the author’s scholarship and methodology. Landscapes present themselves as sceneries we have inherited, where we live, and from where we draw the resources needed to subsist as a civilisation and as a species. The result of our actions on this heritage will be the legacy to our descendants. In the beginning of the third millennium, the interest in the topic of landscape is increasingly important, transforming this discipline in a research platform where several fields of knowledge intersect. The aim of this colloquium is to reflect about the diversity of multidisciplinary aspects, analytical methods, and intervention techniques related to the study of landscape, establishing a forum focused on the future relationship between humanity and landscape.
