    Identities are not only related to politics of assimilation and exclusion in the context of Nation-States, but also shape territorial configuration and arrangements in relation to geographical space. The latter becomes a territory for the accumulation of cultural symbols resulting from the different activities accomplished by a community living in that given space. In order to comprehend what drives various societies in resisting against the dispossession of land, in defending their resources and in opposing the political economies of States, new methodologies and interdisciplinary approaches are needed.

    The conference will bring together scientists and scholars from the human, social and brain sciences to bear upon the question of transformation of seemingly ordinary individuals to repetitive agents of extreme violence in groups (Syndrome E). The aim of the upcoming conference is to foster a multidisciplinary approach trying to elucidate the brain mechanisms of this behavior and its collective characteristics, and also to evoke the social, psychological, ethical and juridical aspects. The conference will be a culmination and synthesis of three years of studies and discussions and will conclude with plans for further actions.

Starting from there, a new perception of the urban experience, and consequently a new definition of urbanity could be proposed, both more pragmatic and poetic.
