  Hébergé par le Département de littérature comparée de l'Université de Szeged (Hongrie), le colloque « Terreur / terrorisme et esthétique » a pour objectif de mettre en relief la relation complexe entre la notion politique et le discours de la terreur ainsi que la tradition de la pensée esthétique concernant cette notion, depuis l'Antiquité jusqu'à présent. La langue primaire du colloque sera l'anglais, mais les propositions et contributions en francais ou en allemand sont egalement acceptées et bienvenues.

  Poetry & Religion: Figures of the Sacred

  Ce colloque porte sur la poésie religieuse de langue anglaise, depuis les origines jusqu’à nos jours. Comment un poème exprime-t-il au mieux la foi ? Comment peut-il amener le lecteur à la méditation ? Quels poèmes de langue anglaise témoignent de l’influence des auteurs chrétiens (Saint Augustin, Dante, Maître Eckhart, Loyola, Pascal, Renan, Kierkegaard, Dostoïevski, Péguy…) ? Le poète chrétien se sert-il de la croyance comme d’un ressort du processus créateur, mettant alors en jeu des concepts comme la poiesis ou l’ekphrasis ? Quel usage fait-il du blasphème, de l’humour, de l’ironie, de la rhétorique en général et des figures de style en particulier ?

  Le colloque se concentrera sur la question des fonctions des avant-gardes ainsi que des transferts et appropriations des influences et intertextes dans l’Europe intermédiaire et du Nord dans la période qui s’étend de 1909 à la fin de la guerre froide. Les langues officielles du colloque seront le français et l’anglais. Les domaines disciplinaires invités à apporter leur contribution sont : l’histoire de l’art, lettres modernes et littérature comparée, histoire, histoire des idées, sémiotique, analyse des discours et traductologie.

  The Gazing Society

  Approaches to the history of vision in the modern period, 19th-20th century

  The CSC (Centro Interuniversitario di Storia Culturale) is looking for discussants for its fore-coming international conference on "The Gazing Society. Approaches to the history of vision in the modern period (19th-20th century)", that will take place in Padova, Italy at the beginning of 2012. The conference aims to be a stimulating opportunity for approaching the study of "the gazing society" between the 19th and the 20th centuries. Each historical period can be said to be characterized by its own “visual structures“, and, thus, by perceptive experiences, practices and languages which are culturally determined. History, and in particular modern history, can therefore offer a broad scope of research. The aim of the conference is precisely to build a comprehensive picture of the state of the art as well as to foster an international debate on the topic. The conference will be held in Italian and English.

  Fictions, immersions et univers virtuels

  Ces colloques et recherches qui lui sont associées ont pour objectifs de clarifier les rapports entre trois situations d’immersion : 1) l’immersion du sujet en situation réelle, 2) l’immersion du sujet (lecteur ou spectateur) en situation fictionnelle, 3) l’immersion du sujet en situation virtuelle. Plus précisément, ce sont les situations d’interactions entre ces trois sortes d’univers qui seront abordées car chacun désormais ne peut se concevoir de façon autonome. Mais ce seront aussi les modalités des entrées et sorties entre situation immersive et situation non immersive qu’il faudra envisager pour chacun de ces modes d’immersion.

  Social networking is the way the grey literature community remains connected in the 21st century. It encompasses a range of social media and communication tools that enable subject based communities to create, review, process, publish, and make grey literature openly accessible to public domain. Social networking is not new to grey literature, in fact it is inherent to this field of information. What’s new however are the technologies available to global grey literature communities in developing, monitoring, and sustaining valued information resources and services. In this context, social networking becomes a mechanism both used and applied by grey literature communities in the processes of knowledge generation and ensuing wealth creation.

  Catholic Intellectuals in France in the mid-20th Century

  Following the success of the journée d’étude ‘Engaging with Engagement: French Catholic Thought 1930-50’, held at Magdalen College in May 2010, this conference will continue and extend exploration of different types of French Catholic intellectual engagement during the mid-twentieth century, against the backdrop of the ‘crises’ of civilization of the interwar period through to the war years and beyond. The formation of Catholic identities, in their artistic, philosophical, theological and political manifestations, and the shifting norms and values of political and social commitments in relation to their cultural and theological fault lines, are central to our concerns.

  On the occasion of its 1st International Conference, the Bajo Palabra Philosophy Association, announces the “1st Award Competition of Bajo Palabra Journal of Philosophy for Young Researchers”. This competition is open to any researcher under 35 years old, who are registered in the Conference and who have submitted an unpublished work to one of the proposed branches. Several prizes will be awarded. Works will be selected by an international jury, based on their originality, academic rigor and accuracy. Each of the winners will receive a certificate from the Autonomous University of Madrid, the outstanding publication of the paper in a journal issue and the return of the registration fees.

  The general thesis of this conference is that the national and international standardizations, the resistances to it, and the development of regional particularities are mutually dependent. During the conference projects, protagonists, and effects of the standardization processes within the education systems throughout the 19th and 20th centuries shall be examined and discussed. International and national processes of standardization and comparisons of them are in the main focus: Not only the success or failure of standardization but also how national standardization processes depend on international standardization processes – and vice versa – are of interest.

  Ce « workshop » international de philosophie des sciences sociales et de philosophie sociale de Nice fait suite à la « Philosophy of Social Science Roundtable » de Paris (18-20 mars) en réunissant un certain nombre de philosophes américains ou canadiens spécialistes du domaine qui se sont déplacés pour l'occasion pour continuer à discuter entre eux et avec des chercheurs français philosophes, sociologues ou économistes d'une question au centre de nombre d'interrogations en science sociales : la spécificité éventuelle de la rationalité collective par rapport à la rationalité individuelle. Ce « workshop » précède lui-même un autre workshop qui se tiendra à Aix-en-Provence (23-24 mars) avec certains des mêmes participants, sur un autre thème, à l'interface de la sociologie et de la philosophie : « Social Epistemology and Cognitive Sociology ».

  Le but de cette table ronde est de retravailler sur l'antifascisme en mettant en évidence les ruptures et les continuités entre l’antifascisme de la période 1920-1940, expression et pratique politique plurielle, impliquant des acteurs divers et les usages discursifs qui en ont été faits par les régimes communistes. L’antifascisme se diversifie dans le temps et sa définition varie en fonction des programmes politiques ou du répertoire d'action collective mobilisé.
