Turpin and the Carolingian epic: the intersection between cultures
Le colloque s’articulera autour de deux axes : la question de l’intertextualité, particulièrement accentuée dans la tradition de l’Historia Turpini, et l’imbrication des cultures, qui voit dans la tradition carolingienne un terrain privilégié de confrontation. À côté de problèmes d’ordre ecdotique, la réflexion touchera aux thèmes suivants : la contamination des traditions littéraires et des cultures, les personnages et les lieux, l’iconographie, les croisements entre l’épopée carolingienne et les pélerinages, les manières dont la matière a été remaniée au fil du temps.

Imaginary places, real territories
Territorial imagery and the creation of Dutch identities (1579-1702)
From the creation of a federal State in 1579 to the temporary disappearance of the Stadholderate in 1702, what role did the visual culture play in the political assertion of a national territory? How does the artist’s gaze on the territory, local or foreign, real or imagined, allows us to understand this rhetoric? How exactly are fantasized or real elements of foreign places integrated in a local visual discourse? What do these images reveal of the public who commissions, buys and looks at them? Within the process of national and territorial construction, how are these territorial perspectives integrated and part of the enrichment of the Dutch identity narrative? Considering the variety of these issues, this symposium aims to shed light on the ways in which Dutch depictions of national and transnational territories participated in the formulation of a shared identity.

Thinking the production of racism in contemporary migrations
Perspectives from Chile and Latin America
Organisée par l’université de Temuco, les membres du projet Anillo de la chaire « Racisme et migrations » de la Universidad de Chile, le pôle cône sud de l’Institut des Amériques et l’Institut français du Chili, en lien avec les postes de la coopération scientifique et universitaire française dans le cône sud, la troisième édition de la journée doctorale France-Amérique latine (JDFA) s’intéressera, les 8 et 9 juillet 2021, à la thématique des migrations. L’analyse des politiques restrictives en matière migratoire montre de quelle façon se produit et se manifeste le racisme. Ces politiques ont une influence sur la trajectoire des personnes migrantes, depuis le départ du pays d’origine jusqu’à l’arrivée dans le pays récepteur. La journée destinée à des étudiants de posgrado, créera un espace pour penser tant la diversité des discriminations (institutionnelles, administratives, quotidiennes, …) que leurs causes, expérimentées par les migrants dans le monde et en particulier en Amérique latine.

Comment l'enquête sur les conditions sensibles et incarnées de la connaissance, l'exploration des fondements imaginaires de l'action sociale et politique ou l'engagement avec des œuvres d'art contribuent à renouveler cette tâche ancienne : l'autocritique de la raison sensible ?

Organitechnosciences. Invective dynamics of a paradigm shift
Since the second half of the 20th century, a fundamental paradigm shift can be observed in the scientific discourses of various disciplines: The separation between the organic and the technical, which has shaped the "Western" history of ideas for centuries seems to have been abolished. This paradigm shift - from separation to hybridization - turns out to be a multifaceted process and becomes the scene of a contested terrain, also in literary studies. The discussion will focus on organic-technical figures of thought in German-language texts from the Middle Ages to contemporary literature.

New Technology-based Metamorphosis in Japan
In Japan, characters now invade social networks up to the point where a whole industry of character-camouflage is prompting millions of web users to merge with videogames-like creatures. How can we understand this phenomenon? What social changes does it contribute to shape and to mirror?During the course of an international workshop, researchers from various disciplines are invited to share their experiences and outcomes concerning this phenomenon, which has been stamped kyara-ka, “transforming into a character” (Aihara Hiroyuki, 2007). It is now giving birth to what Nozawa Shunsuke (2013) calls “an emerging art of self–fashioning”. Based on elaborate techniques of disguises, the kyara-ka phenomenon covers a variety of communication strategies and practices. Exploring all the aspects of this “thingification of humans”, the workshop will reflect on how and why a growing number of people market themselves as characters.

Bêtise(s) et intelligence(s) de la numérisation du monde
En raison de l’épidémie actuelle de Covid-19, l'événement a été annulé et est en attente d'un report à une date ultérieure.
Ce colloque sera le moment de réfléchir à l’entrelacs entre différentes strates problématiques de la « numérisation du monde », sans négliger un élément central : toutes ces intelligences ont toujours besoin d’exister d’une manière ancrée, ce qui nous conduit à mettre en évidence le concept de territoire. Celui-ci ne sera pas entendu au sens simplement physique, mais aussi écologique, administratif, politique, éthique et existentiel, de l’ordre du milieu ou du transindividuel. L'évènement sera l'occasion d’explorer ces nouveaux territoires et leurs intelligences (à l’aide des outils de l’architecture, de l’urbanisme et du design) pour aller au-delà des smart territories, au sens plat et « bête » de déploiement massif de toutes sortes de devices numériques.

Exvoto. El voto como objeto: concepción, exposición, patrimonialización
Longtemps cantonnées à l’étude de ses formes picturales, les recherches sur l’ex-voto ont été renouvelées à l’aube du XXIe siècle révélant dans le même mouvement la complexité de sa définition. Objet d’un vœu, objet d’une promesse, l’ex-voto se caractérise par sa variabilité formelle et usuelle, qui brouille son identification. Il est alors essentiel de se tourner vers les spécialistes de sa fabrication pour considérer les conditions de son élaboration dans une temporalité complexe qui va de l’imploration du divin au dépôt de la chose promise. Quelle que soit la religion au sein de laquelle il prend forme, l’ex-voto est replacé dans un lieu de culte, et la question de son exposition devient centrale. Objet connecteur entre le profane et le sacré, sa valeur se transforme au gré de ses circulations et selon le lieu où il est présenté. De son exhibition dévotionnelle à son exposition patrimoniale, l’ex-voto nous permettra de nous interroger lors de ce colloque sur les interrelations qu’il construit entre : religion et esthétique, dévotion et patrimonialisation, culture populaire et culture savante.

Ces innovations techniques redéfinissent la manière dont nous habitons notre monde, interagissons les uns avec les autres et appréhendons l'humain dans son rapport de plus en plus étroit à la machine, non plus, comme autrefois, soigné ou réparé, mais désormais augmenté ou remplacé. Qu'en est-il alors de nos pratiques artistiques et culturelles ? Ces avancées récentes modifient-ils la langue et la littérature ?

The enthusiasm and expectations for more sustainability go beyond mere environmental issues. They touch on crucial social issues as well. The symposium papers intends to question the paradigms, models, scenarios and practices that embody sustainability. One may wonder what meaning should be given to the very idea of sustainability and the representations it conveys.

Surprising Trajectories in Islam, Gender & Politics in Southeast Asia
Islam in Southeast Asia has enjoyed a thriving trajectory in recent years. This is in large part attributable to various state-led Islamization movements that have succeeded in weaving the values and tenets of Islam into the very fabric of Muslims’ everyday life, thereby fortifying the power of the state that claims to embody the divine authority and immutability of Islam. But while the state imagines itself to be the legitimate (and only) “guardian” of Islam, its attempts to monopolize Islamic interpretations and institutions also – perhaps unintentionally – open up a more complex, discursive space that allows non-state actors to submit to, challenge, or appropriate and refashion various forms of symbolic state power, often in unpredictable ways.

Financed by the European Commission, the Academic Network of Soft Law Research (SoLaR) aims at stimulating the debate between academics and practitioners on the national role of EU soft law. SoLaR asks whether and how non-binding EU instruments are used bynational administrations when implementing EU policies and bynational courts when ruling in cases falling within the scope ofapplication of EU law. This final event will present the results of the project (to be published by Bloomsbury as an edited collection in 2020), introduce the policy recommendations and discuss follow-upactivities
