Handicap et géographie : spatialités du handicap et insertion socio-professionnelle
8th EUGEO Congress on the Geography of Europe
Le mouvement des droits des personnes handicapées a jeté les bases du développement actuel des études sur le handicap. Cette session EUGEO 2021 souhaite mettre en avant tous les travaux envisageant le handicap et ses enjeux par une approche spatiale. Qu’il s’agisse, par exemple, de l’étude de la mobilité des personnes ayant des déficiences ou de l’analyse des liens objectifs et subjectifs qu’ils entretiennent avec l’espace, les travaux qui analysent les spatialités du handicap dans leur multiplicité et leur diversité seront particulièrement appréciés. Dans l’objectif de comprendre dans quelle mesure l’espace peut être un atout ou un frein pour les personnes en situation de handicap, cette session encourage également les travaux questionnant les différentes logiques d’insertion sociale et professionnelle et notamment l’influence du milieu de vie dans ces logiques.

Photo: science. photography and scientific discourses
How did photography influence natural sciences, the historical and social sciences, and the more speculative sciences? Photography Research Centre at the IAH CAS is organising a conference “Photo: Science. Photography and Scientific Discourses”, which will take place on 17–19 September 2020 in Prague. It is the first in a series of interdisciplinary sessions that we would like to continue into in the future. Our objective is to start from photography, from its own existence, and to study it as an autonomous entity.

Modernity, night shifts and the temporal organization of labour across political and economic regimes
Issues we would like contributors to address in the workshop are: How did the temporal organization of labour and the night shift evolve in different places and different times? How has the night shift been perceived and ‘lived’ by workers who have engaged in this activity? Who are, and were, the workers involved in night work? To what extent has the ‘night shift’ been carried out by specific groups and/or categories (such as unskilled workers, women, migrants, etc). To what extent has the night shift been seen as compatible or clashing with with key social, human and labour rights? How has night work been legitimized, contested, and negotiated by different stakeholders at all levels of the economic hierarchy? And, what are the threats to well-being of night workers due to lack of regulations to night work (in global cities)?

The Human-Animal Line. Interdisciplinary Approaches
On the premise that the boundaries between the “human self” and the “animal other” need constantly interrogating and analysing, we are convening an international conference with a view to widening the debate on this pressing question in Central Europe. The conference will be an opportunity both to critically reassess the results of the research already carried out in the area of English and French Animal Studies in its relations with contiguous fields, and to initiate new paths of research and analyse new sources of reference.

For this Main Session at the EAUH 11th International Conference (Prague, August 29 - September 1, 2012), we invite papers that bring a transnational or comparative methodology to bear on planning postwar cities in Europe and North America. We are interested in how ideas about planning were exchanged across national borders and how planning in turn shaped trans-Atlantic shifts in political ideologies. Paper topics can range from specific urban interventions, such as the provision of housing, to the way cities fit into broader programs of social reform, Keynesianism, or market-oriented competition. We encourage contributions from all disciplines. -

Aide à la mobilité du Cefres pour des doctorants en sciences sociales
Appel à candidatures 2011-2012
Le Centre français de recherche en sciences sociales propose deux aides à la mobilité susceptibles d'être vacantes à la rentrée 2011. D'une durée de neuf mois chacune (octobre-juin) d'un montant annuel de 9 147 Euros, d'une durée d'un an renouvelable. Ces aides à la mobilité sont destinées à des jeunes chercheurs en cours de doctorat, inscrit en France ou dans l'Union européenne, qui travaillent dans les disciplines suivantes : anthropologie, démographie, droit, économie, géographie, histoire, philosophie, relations internationales, science politique, sociologie, et dont le sujet traite de l'Europe centrale et ses pays voisins et/ou de la République tchèque en particulier.
