Resilient cultural heritage and communities in Europe
Call for posters – REACH project opening conference
The REACH project, RE-designing Access to Cultural Heritage for a wider participation in preservation, (re-)use and management of European culture, is a three-year project aiming to establish a social platform as a sustainable space for meeting, discussion and collaboration for all those engaged in the promotion of participatory approaches to cultural heritage, giving tools and instruments in order to trigger a debate on how participatory approaches can contribute to develop a common horizon of understanding. The programme of the conference includes a rich mixture of skills and experiences; it offers a great opportunity to discuss and compare successful examples of participatory processes and reflect on the role of Cultural Heritage in cohesion and social integration.

Medium-sized cities and their role in the context of metropolitanisation

Contemporary African and Black Diasporic Spaces in Europe
"Open Cultural Studies" journal
This special issue of Open Cultural Studies explores the social and cultural spaces in which identifications with African and black diaspora(s) become articulated, (re)negotiated and established as a field of collective agency with transformative power in European societies. It will argue that African diaspora communities and cultures in Europe are constructed not only by individuals’ engagements with Africa and its global diaspora, or mediatized and commercialized notions of Africanness/blackness, but also through collective agency aiming at promoting change in European societies shadowed by the normative whiteness, nationalist discourses and policies, human rights violations and overt racism.

The Caribbean City, the Cities in the Caribbean
N° 39, 2018 - The Caribbean City, the Cities in the Caribbean
The Caribbean city, the unknown. Heterogeneous human settlements, legacies of the colonial era, refuge of the disadvantaged and homeless, mixed and fragmented, and the showcases of Caribbean tourism, the urban Caribbean presents itself as the economic ambition of these insular territories and other shores bathed by the Caribbean sea. The Caribbean city, a chaotic juxtaposition of modernity and the colonial past, and existing both as a social and political symbol, opens up a rich and immense new area. Sometimes characterized by European allure, the remainder of Africa - some may say -, American city - without a doubt -, hybrid format, the Caribbean city presents a particular subject of study.

Urban Studies and Practices Journal (JUSP), Special issue
Cities worldwide are major magnets for migrants. Urban environments shape migrants’ experiences in a new locale, whereas migrants contribute to increasing diversity of the city. Due to its extreme complexity and dynamic nature, the reality under the “migrant and the city” interconnection is rarely considered in theoretical accounts, empirical methodologies, or practical interventions in its full diversity. This special issue of the JUSP aims to harness the elusive reality of this interconnection by bridging both disciplinary and theory-practice gaps and inviting scholars and practitioners to share their reflections on the topic. In this issue, we are especially interested in creating a multifaceted account of integration (or assimilation, incorporation, acculturation) as one of the ways to talk about this interconnection.

Geo-economic and geo-political approaches
The aim of the conference "Contemporary Crisis and changes" is to question these contemporary upheavals through both a geo-economic and a geopolitical reading. The conference will provide elements of analysis and compare them especially with contemporary representations of globalisation emphasizing in particular the logic of closure that seems to characterize this phenomenon.

Migrants and access to the city
Revue « Espaces et Sociétés »
Recently, the scale of migration has generated strong images and speech that on one hand incite an urge to situate these events in academic debates, and also to participate in their objectification. This issue of E & S concerns access to the city by migrants, considering such access as an intermediate step between the flow of migration and registration (one time, temporary or permanent) of people in specific spaces. We expect proposals from those hoping to analyze the materiality of access points, technologies that accompany these processes, objects that materialize migratory situations, and finally, the temporal dimension of space. Empirical research from so-called “developing” countries will be valued highly and will be conducive to the renewal of analytical and operational framework categories, often forged in the North.

What we know about and the issues and cultures of walking

Figures of the immigrant consumer in Europe - Franco-German perpectives

Can regions understand each other?
Europe and Asia: challenges and crisis-management
Further to the first Europe-Asia conferences exploring regional regime dynamics (France, 2004), policies of regional cooperation (Korea, 2005), interregional competition (France, 2012) and the limits of regional constructions (Kazakhstan, 2014), this 2016 edition will look at the reciprocal understanding of regions and how that is conducive to their capacity (or lack thereof) to monitor crises they undergo, both specific crises and interregional ones. Papers must address original research, in regional dynamics of Asia and Europe, since the end of the cold war and focus on one area among.
