Globe, terre, planète et cosmos au XXIe siècle
Arpenter les nouveaux territoires de la pensée et les nouvelles pensées du territoire avec Deleuze et Guattari
« Penser se fait […] dans le rapport du territoire et de la terre » écrivent, en 1991, Gilles Deleuze et Félix Guattari dans Qu’est-ce que la philosophie ? Mais quel est ce territoire que la pensée ne peut éviter d’arpenter au moment même où elle s’exerce ? Quelle est cette terre sur laquelle elle est nécessairement bâtie ? Et comment concevoir ce rapport entre terre et territoire, une fois admis que l’un présuppose l’autre (et réciproquement) ? Si Deleuze & Guattari, ont tenté d’apporter des réponses à ces questions à travers leur proposition de « géophilosophie », il ne fait aucun doute que le problème du rapport de la pensée à la terre et au(x) territoire(s) soulevé par ces deux philosophes, non seulement continue de se poser, mais ne cesse de se reposer encore et encore. Et pour cause, un tel problème, au XXIème siècle, revêt une urgence et une acuité inégalées avec la destruction massive, l’altération durable et la transformation en partie irréversible d’innombrables « territoires existentiels », humains et non-humains. C’est l’ensemble de ces rapports entre terre(s) et territoire(s) que le colloque se propose de questionner, 25 ans après la mort de Deleuze.

Faced with the global scarcity of water and the “aridification” of a growing number of regions around the world, this symposium aims to question the productivist and short-termist logics of our water management methods. To this end, we invite you to take an in-depth look at cases of territorial development in arid or semi-arid regions, not limiting ourselves to the technical question of water management, but broadening our view to include all the research and dynamics underlying hydrographic designs in arid environments.

Vivre sans voiture ou habiter en tiny house ; jeûner ou adopter un régime sans gluten, sans sucre ou sans protéine animale ; pratiquer le zéro déchet ou le decluttering (i.e. le désencombrement) ; s’adonner à la randonnée ultralégère, courir pieds nus ou se détacher de l’auto-quantification digitale : qu’est-ce que faire « avec moins » voire « sans » signifie dans une société doublement marquée par une escalade vers le « toujours plus » et une prise de conscience de la raréfaction des ressources ? C’est à cette question générale que souhaite répondre le présent projet éditorial, en s’intéressant à l’adoption intentionnelle de démarches minimalistes à partir d’un prisme singulier : les transformations du corps.

Human Consequences of Past Volcanic-Induced Climatic Shocks
Large volcanic eruptions can have a substantial impact on climate across the globe. These climatic disturbances can, in turn, have severe human consequences – often very remote from the original eruption. To understand how such eruptions have impacted history (and may impact society in the future) we need to understand how eruptions, climate and society interact: To what extent can we attribute social impacts to volcanic eruptions? How do different eruptions impact different societies and is there any consistency between these impacts? And why are some societies more or less affected by certain eruptions?

The Exploitation of Subsurface Resources in Ancient Greece
The Greek term metallon may refer to either a mine or a quarry, whether used for the extraction of rock, ore, or salt. In this sense, it does not denote the nature of the resources themselves, but rather their shared origin: the subsurface. This common provenance opens the door to a cross-disciplinary reflection on the exploitation and management of such resources in ancient Greece. In recent decades, the study of the past has seen a growing interest in environmental questions. A key dimension of this research concerns the relationship between ancient societies and their environment: how did human groups interact with their surroundings to meet their needs, build infrastructure, or produce everyday objects? In this field, the rise of interdisciplinary approaches – at the intersection of archaeological sciences and historical inquiry – combined with recent methodological advances, has led to major developments in the field.

Nouvelles perspectives sur la représentation du monde naturel
Le colloque réunira des communications qui seront structurées tout particulièrement sur : le « sentiment » ou la « perception de la nature » de l’Antiquité à la Renaissance. Il conviendra alors de renouveler notre compréhension sur les relations entre l’homme et la nature à partir de l’examen des vestiges archéologiques, des textes, de l’iconographie. Il pourra s’agir à la fois d’examiner comment la nature était introduite, dès l’Antiquité, au sein des résidences privées (peintures, mosaïques, aménagements topographiques…) et publiques (palais, lieux de culte …) ou encore ce que peut signifier l’attrait pour le paysage, qui repose très souvent sur sa domination et son contrôle, pour la constitution de l’individu et des préoccupations écologiques.

Navigating change in agro-pastoral systems
Transdisciplinary methods for studying social-ecological systems
We are organising a series of three annual summer schools to offer PhD and post-doctoral scientists working on pressing livelihood issues in different social-ecological systems contexts the opportunity to deepen their theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in transdisciplinary research that can have tangible impacts on society. The present summer school in Parakou, Benin, focuses on the study of transformations and innovations in African agro-pastoral systems in a context of multi-dimensional turbulence. The summer school aims to help PhD students and post-docs establish and build conceptual and theoretical foundations, develop methodological and analytical skills, and improve the communication of their results and ideas in the transdisciplinary study of social-ecological systems in general, and on agro-pastoral systems in particular.

You Are Here: poetic gestures and creative ecologies from the garden
This one-day symposium seeks to explore the work of writers and artists whose imaginative approaches to poetic practice engage with an evolving consideration of the place of humans in the natural or more-than-human world, in a time of ecological instability, unpredictability, and urgency; whose ecopoetic engagements – on and beyond the medium – echo the dynamic and complex nature of our ecosystems and our entanglement with the non-human. The debate this conference aims to foster will build from the concept supported in the field of ecopoetics and ecocinema according to which diverse forms of activism unfold from the same imaginative processes of art and literature.

Theatre for Socioecological Change
This workshop explores the powerful tools of Theatre of the Oppressed (ToO) as instruments for driving socio-ecological change, with a focus on Indigenous peoples’ struggles and the rights of non-human beings. Participants will be introduced to the diverse arsenal of ToO techniques, including Forum Theatre and Legislative Theatre, to critically analyze and address the various forms of oppression faced by Indigenous communities, particularly in relation to traditional forest management practices.

L’agriculture entretient des rapports ambivalents à l’environnement et au changement climatique. On assite ainsi depuis plusieurs décennies au développement de pratiques dégradant le fonctionnement des socio-écosystèmes terrestres (via notamment l’utilisation d’engrais et de pesticides impactant les milieux et formes de vie. Dans le même temps, l’agriculture apparait particulièrement exposée aux changements systémiques en cours, fragilisant alors sa capacité à reproduire les conditions d’une sécurité alimentaire globale alors qu’elle représente un secteur hautement stratégique pour faire évoluer les socio-écosystèmes (séquestration du carbone, régénération des sols…).
