Notre journée d’étude invite à étudier ce phénomène à l’époque contemporaine, toutes aires géographiques confondues. Vestígios do passado nas artes e letras afro-luso-brasileiras

Ces dernières années, plusieurs œuvres littéraires, audiovisuelles et artistiques ont abordé d’une manière différente le rapport au passé. Plutôt que de le figer comme une époque révolue, elles l’inscrivent dans le présent à travers des traces, des strates qui émergent au fil des récits et des représentations. Bien que de nombreuses intrigues se construisent au présent, et à l’époque de leur production, elles sont constamment traversées par le passé, non seulement à travers des références explicites, mais aussi par le biais d’empreintes subtiles qui hantent les personnages, les lieux et les dynamiques narratives. Ce colloque international propose d’examiner la façon dont les traces du passé s’inscrivent dans les œuvres audiovisuelles, littéraires et artistiques de l’univers afro-luso-brésilien. Il s’attachera à examiner comment les traces, les présences spectrales et les ruines, en tant que strates temporelles et mémorielles, hantent les imaginaires contemporains et nourrissent une réflexion sur la persistance du passé et ses résonances dans le présent.

From gardening to landscaping, from La Quintinie to tomorrow.

The transition from gardening to spatial design or planning, and vice versa, is a common issue in gardens and large parks, both historic and contemporary. The aim of this symposium is to bring together gardeners, historians, geographers, landscape architects, urban planners and other disciplines concerned with the art of gardening and landscape design, to examine and explore this transition between gardening and landscape. The 400^th anniversary of the birth of Jean de La Quintinie (March 1^st, 1626), designer and first gardener of the Potager du Roi, and the 50^th anniversary of the creation of the Ecole nationale supérieure de paysage at the Potager du Roi (October 15^th 1976) serve as catalysts.

Elle a également pour ambition d’affirmer la vocation pluridisciplinaire du collectif EPSI (Études pluridisciplinaires sur l’ingénierie) en soulignant la diversité des thèmes de recherche rassemblés sous cet intitulé et des disciplines contributives (sociologie, philosophie, sciences de l’éducation, histoire-géographie, ergonomie...).

« Frères d'armes » ? Dynamiques relationnelles dans l’expérience combattante (Antiquité-XXIe siècle)

L’étude des expériences combattantes, dans toute leur complexité et pluralité, vise à se projeter au-delà d’une simple analyse des institutions militaires, de leurs stratégies et de leurs armements. Elle doit s’intéresser aux dynamiques relationnelles des combattant·es, en accordant une attention particulière aux interactions du quotidien, souvent perçues à tort comme anodines. Ces solidarités, liens affectifs et paroles ne sont pas des épiphénomènes de leur vécu : ils en sont des éléments constitutifs, qui influencent tant leur cohésion que la manière par laquelle ils vivent et comprennent le combat. C’est cette thématique que le colloque entend traiter en étudiant les grammaires affectives des combattants, c’est-à-dire l’ensemble des interactions, paroles et liens émotionnels qui sous-tendent et modèlent leurs expériences de la guerre.

Searching for Homosexuality in Judicial Archives

Epistemological, Methodological and Political Challenges (18 th-20 th centuries)

This workshop aims to explore the epistemological, methodological and political challenges of using judicial archives to conduct historical research on homosexuality. It will be held on 7 and 8 November 2025 at Campus Condorcet in Aubervilliers, France (Paris area). It is open to all early career researchers (master's, doctoral and post-doctoral researchers) conducting investigations into the history of homosexuality using court records and/or other judicial documents, whatever their discipline. This edition focuses specifically on the issue of framing the object of research and on categories of analysis in the history of homosexuality, and how these are put to the test by confrontation with this material.

« Revue de la Bnu », numéro 34

Le concept de « ludification » se répand aujourd’hui de plus en plus, et touche des domaines a priori étrangers à l’univers du jeu comme la pédagogie, l’environnement professionnel ou les relations au sein de l’entreprise : qui n’a pas entendu parler de « serious games » ? Quant à son pendant anglais de « gamification », on sait qu’il consiste pareillement à appliquer les codes et mécanismes des jeux vidéo à des secteurs auxquels ils n’étaient pas destinés au départ. On pourrait citer aussi les « escape games » comme un (des) symptôme(s) d’un escapisme ludique général du monde contemporain. Tout cela rend-il la société plus joueuse ? Rien n’est moins sûr, mais on ne peut nier la place que le jeu a acquise dans l’expression des rapports sociaux, et ce bien au-delà du monde des enfants, dans lequel il a longtemps été cantonné.

De la psychiatrie dans l’aire anglophone is a group of scholars from the Université Paris Nanterre and Université Sorbonne Nouvelle formed in 2023 and dedicated to the history of psychiatry in the English-speaking world. A central ambition of the Who Cares project has been the organization of a series of international conferences on the history of psychiatry in the English-speaking world. The first event took place on 6-8 February 2025 at Université Paris Nanterre and gathered scholars around the topic “People and Places”. This Call for Papers invites contributions that critically engage with the theme of our second event: “Theories and Policies”

The international conference “Materiality and Confinements in the Medieval and Early Modern Eras: Objects, Actors, Experiences” examines confinements through the lens of their materiality. Drawing on a recent historiographical broadening of the field, the conference aims to address various forms of medieval and early modern confinement, both judicial and non-judicial: prisons, galleys, hospitals, workhouses, cloisters, monasteries, and the like. Contributions are encouraged that reflect on how material history and its sources could contribute to a better understanding of different institutions of confinement and their actors (confined individuals, monks, jailers, doctors, suppliers…), practices, and infrastructures.

This interdisciplinary conference invites graduate students and early career researchers to consider the genealogy of international law since 1750. It aims to identify new or unrecognised actors – including individuals, groups, and institutions as well as non-human agents – and their contributions to the practices, interpretations, and applications of international law. How did they establish or challenge norms, customs, and institutions? How were their practices, actions, and ideas shaped into law? The event aims to historicise the making of international law by bringing together junior scholars of history and law and to provide a forum for the exploration of new ideas and alternative perspectives, combining and building upon historical and social scientific approaches.

Les arts du Moyen Âge et de la Renaissance du XIXe siècle : réception, collectionnisme et ré interprétations

The issues to be addressed during these study days are intended to complement and, above all, rediscover a still little-known aspect of the reception of the arts of the Middle Ages (5th-15thc.) and the Renaissance (15th-16 thc.) during the long 19th century. The timeframe chosen for this exploration will begin in the 1820s and 1830s, when the “neo” medieval and Renaissance movements emerged, and will end at the dawn of the First World War. While architecture and painting have been examined in the light of neo-medieval and neo-Renaissance trends, sculpture, the decorative arts in the broadest sense and the graphic arts have received less attention.
