Cette journée d’étude est conçue dans une démarche de recherche-création, elle prend pour point de départ le film documentaire Dénominateur commun, co-réalisé par Louise Pinto Coelho Farge et Denis Alcaniz. Ce film interroge le rôle de l’image dans nos existences contemporaines, au Brésil, pays paradigmatique d’une société où l’excès visuel, la mise en scène permanente de soi et la performativité de l’image s’expriment avec intensité.

Contemporary Issues in Societies and Businesses in the Americas
L’objectif de cette rencontre est d’analyser l’interculturalité, la diversité et l’nclusion tant dans les sociétés que dans les entreprises de différents pays du continent américain. Il s’agit d’une activité qui comprendra des communications sur des pays tels que les États-Unis, Haïti, la Jamaïque, le Mexique, le Costa Rica, l’Équateur et l’Argentine. Outre le questionnement sur ces nouvelles et possibles instances inclusives, les différences culturelles, sociales et de genre ainsi que les transformations de la société dans de nombreux pays, ont conduit à une réflexion et à des propositions sur la possibilité de construire de nouvelles citoyennetés inclusives et diverses.

Le concept de religious competition (compétition religieuse) joue un rôle central en sociologie des religions et en sciences religieuses dans le monde anglo-saxon. Tel sera l’enjeu de ce dossier thématique qui entend interroger à nouveaux frais ce concept dans une perspective transdisciplinaire, transhistorique et transreligieuse. Ce concept est-il opératoire pour décrire les conflits religieux et l’émergence d’une religion dominante, et ce quelles que soient les époques, de l’Antiquité à nos jours, quelles que soient les religions en jeu, quelle que soit l’aire géographique concernée ?

Since (at least) the early modern period, migration, flight, and displacement have been central to European history—not only as forces shaping local and regional environments but also as processes that help define the spatial, cultural, political, social, and intellectual limits of what “Europe” actually means. We invite papers that examine migration in and across Europe (broadly conceived) over the centuries and explore how movements of migrants and refugees have contributed to the making of Europe as a geographical, cultural, and political space.

Our goal is to bring together multi-disciplinary perspectives to examine parks across time and space, across fact and fiction. We seek to understand how these projects, which reconstitute and enclose long-extinct life forms, intersect with histories of science, capitalism, imperialism, environmental change, and more.

Les violences basées sur le genre (VBG) persistent, affectant principalement les femmes dans leurs relations sociales, avec un impact sévère sur leur dignité et leur autonomie. Les rites culturels, souvent perçus comme traditionnels, peuvent en réalité perpétuer ces VBG, par exemple à travers des pratiques comme l'excision, mariages précoces ou rites veuvage. L’objectif de ce colloque est de lutter contre les discriminations envers les femmes, partager des expériences, identifier et analyser les rites culturels générant les VBG, plaider pour l'abandon de ces pratiques, creer un catalogue dynamique de solutions innovantes, et publier un ouvrage collectif sur le thème.

Pour l'année 2025-2026, le séminaire « Mondes judiciaires et pratiques sociales (XIe-XIXe siècle) » et pratiques sociales explorera les liens entre justice et minorités durant les périodes médiévale et moderne. La thématique du séminaire sera centrée sur les minorités, prises au sens actuel du mot, désignant des groupes dont les droits et privilèges les placent au bas ou en marge de la société. Le séminaire est ouvert aux chercheuses et chercheurs, débutants ou confirmés, intéressés par la question des rapports historiques entre les sociétés et leurs cadres judiciaires (acteurs, procédures, corpus de droits).

This seminar approaches communication not only as a neutral means of expression, but also as a form of power: the choice of medium, style, and platform can grant authority, negotiate legitimacy, or challenge dominant structures.

How to teach gender in medicine and health?
Methodological issues and the challenge of interdisciplinarity
In the second half of the 20th century, the introduction of the concept of gender into the social sciences and humanities and into medical sciences restored complexity to the concept of sex, while producing ambivalent effects, notably thecreation of a sex/gender dyad and a divide between the biological and the social. The epistemological heterogeneity of concepts makes dialogue between health careprofessionals and between scientific disciplines difficult, reinforcing newstereotypes in research, clinical practice, and teaching. Interdisciplinary dialogue is necessary in order to teach healthcare professionals about gender and social inequalities in health. How can teaching practices be harmonized without establishing a truth regime about gender?

An ecological transition under strain: country, landscape, and uses in contemporary Germany
The starting point for this conference is the observation that the ecological transition in Germany, which one might have thought would be easier or at least more harmonious than in other countries due to the importance that environmental issues have had in German culture, society, and politics from very early on, is in fact encountering numerous obstacles and is even being called into question. This is evidenced, among other things, by the setbacks which the energy transition encounters and by the success of the party Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) despite—or perhaps because of—its stance in favour of climate change denial.

Material Life of The Displaced : Categories, belongings, solidarities (16th-20th centuries)
Revue « Diasporas. Circulations, Migrations, Histoire »
This thematic issue of Diasporas. Circulations, Migrations, Histoire. journal invites contributions examining how the material factors shaped the construction of identities, solidarities, and social hierarchies among displaced populations from the sixteenth to the twentieth century. By adopting an approach that encompasses migrants, refugees, and exiles, the issue seeks to explore the role of living conditions, work, housing and consumer practices in decisions regarding departure, settlement, and anchoring, as well as in processes of social mobility and demotion. Studying the history of displaced people through their material lives opens a dialogue on the role of economic factors not only in the categorizations imposed by authorities but also in the processes of self-identification and belonging developed by the displaced themselves.

A Transnational History of Spanish Humanitarianism in a Global Context from the First World War to the 1920s
Building on the dynamic initiated during a workshop held in 2024 on the humanitarian institution created in 1915 by Alfonso XIII–the European War Office–, this conference seeks to gather separate initiatives and to bring together specialists to address historiographical gaps concerning Spanish actions during the war. The conference will examine these actions from a global perspective in the context of the 1920s by comparing them with the actions of other institutions and neutral countries, such as Sweden, Denmark, the Vatican and the ICRC.

Technofascisme : technologie et autoritarisme, XIXe-XXIe siècles
Le ralliement en fin d’année dernière de tout un ensemble d’acteur de la Silicon Valley à la ligne dure du nouveau gouvernement des États‑Unis a conduit à ramener le terme de « technofascisme » sur le devant de la scène médiatique. La question de formes contemporaines de « fascisme » et d’autoritarisme technologique se pose ainsi, à l’intersection du développement de technologies de surveillance et de contrôle et d’idéologies impérialistes prométhéennes, tandis que des doctrines eugénistes, masculinistes et autres tendances réactionnaires occupent une place dans les mondes sociaux contemporains de la technologie. L’objectif de ces journées d’étude est d’interroger cette notion dans sa profondeur historique, sociologique et théorique afin de mettre en lumière ses manifestations contemporaines à la lumière des liens entre fascisme historique et technologies.

Humanism and Nature: Paradoxical and Heterodox Paths
From the 21st Century to the Renaissance
We firstly aim to examine the criticisms levelled at the idea of humanism in recent decades, in particular from the ‘environmentalism’ viewpoint, without neglecting the possible dialogue between humanism and environmentalist perspectives. We propose, in particular, to investigate tensions and paradoxes within humanistic projects, which emerge when their rhetorical and conceptual tools are used to realise a decentralisation of perspective, dethroning the human subject from its self-proclaimed and presumed centrality in the cosmos, in order to look at man/woman from the point of view of the animal or even to rethink her/him in a plural space of living beings and non-living entities.
