Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Food Information, Communication and Education
The aim of the conference is to explore issues arising from the informational, communicational and educational practices which contribute to the circulation of knowledge about food. We seek to advance understanding of the processes of formulation, mediatization, circulation and reception of knowledge and norms relating to food, within different social environments (education, business, information activities, urban public places…) and within a variety of informational and communicational contexts, including public communication, popular science publications, informal blogs, journalism, advertising…

The Third Spanish Conference on the Sociology of Food will take place in Gijón (Asturias) on the 27 and 28 September 2018. The event is part of the activities of the Research Committees (CI) of the Spanish Federation of Sociology (FES), which includes the Sociology of Food Research Committee. This group brings together researchers into food and eating at the intersection of health, culture, consumption, policy, and agricultural systems.

Au cours des dernières décennies, les sciences sociales de la sexualité se sont emparées de catégories issues de l’économie. Elles ont par exemple envisagé la prostitution et la pornographie comme des activités productives, faisant l’objet d’évaluations économiques, donnant lieu à des formes de valorisation monétaire et mobilisant une force de travail dotée de capitaux spécifiques. De la même manière, de nombreux travaux en anthropologie ou au croisement de la sociologie et de l’économie se sont intéressés à la dimension intrinsèquement économique du mariage et de la conjugalité, l’inscrivant dans un système d’échanges matériels et sexuels au sein duquel des hommes et des femmes échangent à la fois des désirs, des sentiments et de l’argent. Certain·e·s auteur·e·s ont également envisagé les échanges économico-sexuels comme un continuum borné d’un côté par la prostitution et, de l’autre, par le mariage. C’est dans le cadre de ces travaux que furent forgées des notions telles que « capital érotique », « marché matrimonial » ou « industrie du sexe ».

Towards a Game-ist regime
Ce colloque consacré à la « gamification » de la société – entendue comme la transposition des éléments de la structure de jeu dans des contextes autres que de jeu – propose de réunir les chercheurs travaillant sur la « gamification » dans différents domaines : santé, éducation, citoyenneté, travail, relations sociales, pratiques de scoring appliquées aux individus (corps, sociabilité…) et à leurs pratiques (on pensera notamment aux pratiques numériques), ces domaines ne se voulant pas exhaustifs. L'enjeu consistera à éviter les pièges de la segmentation en questionnant le sens social de la « gamification » et de la banalisation de mises en forme de jeu pour des pratiques non ludiques.

Les sentiments d'urgence et d'accélération temporelle que connaissent les sociétés contemporaines modernes soulèvent la question de la gestion des temps. La gestion des temps est devenue un enjeu de société. Sa prise en compte dans les politiques publiques et les entreprises reste toutefois jugée insuffisante.

The three-day conference aims to investigate how television programmes in their multiplicity approached issues like medical progress and its limits, healthy behaviour or new forms of exercise by adapting them to TV formats and programming...The conference seeks to analyse how television and its evolving formats expressed and staged bodies, health and fitness from local, regional, national and international perspectives. How spectators were invited not only to be TV consuming audiences, but how shows and TV set-ups integrated and sometimes pretended to transform the viewer into a participant of the show. TV programmes spread the conviction that subjects had the ability to shape their own body.

The society of production is giving way to a consumer society in which leisure activities are gaining in popularity. Free time thus tends to turn into time which is used to groom one’s body, and the « civilization of leisure » generates its own culture (Dumazedier, 1964). In this way, sports as a form of leisure hold a particular place within our society. The “sportivization” of society, from a cultural and economic aspect, generates an expansion and a renewal of the different types of sporting leisure activities (increase in the number of sporting practices and diversification of the sporting techniques’ employed), following recreational (Corneloup, 2011) or body-oriented (Rauch, 1988) goals, but also connecting with the environment, whether it be urban or natural.

Questioning current stakes of pharmaceuticals in Africa
We wish to discuss the multiple stakes surrounding pharmaceuticals in Africa today, with particular consideration of their markets, the political and economic actors which they mobilize, related instruments of regulation, control and competition, modes of health care in which they are placed, and finally their modes of consumption by individuals, without losing sight of the adaptation of "traditional medicines" to the evolution of economic models. Regulation, with its broad sense of norms actually at play, legislative, biomedical, technical and commercial, seems to transverse these various questions and will thus be widely considered. We anticipate proposals based on current research for presentation on the seven themes outlined below. Submissions can come from the various social sciences (anthropology, sociology, law, history, economy, geography, political sciences), as well as from biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences. Although Africa is central to this discourse, presentations of studies from other continents will be considered with the aim of drawing links with Africa and enriching the discourse with current situations in African countries.

Cet appel à contribution est lancé par des chercheurs du Groupe de recherche sur les enjeux de la communication (GRESEC, université Grenoble Alpes) pour un ouvrage collectif intitulé Alimentation et santé : logiques d’acteurs en information-communication. Cet ouvrage est dirigé par Viviane Clavier et Jean-Philippe De Oliveira. Il sera publié chez ISTE Éditions en juin 2018 et sera le deuxième d’une série sur « L’information dans le secteur de la santé ». Une édition en anglais est envisagée par l'éditeur chez Wiley.

Le colloque international aura pour thème central la question des savoirs, de leurs évolutions et de leurs usages instrumentaux pour la gouvernance de la sécurité alimentaire. L’objectif est de mettre en relief les complémentarités et les divergences entre, d’une part, les objectifs d’ordre plutôt technocratique, faisant de la sécurité alimentaire un objectif normé, et d’autre part, les approches actionnalistes considérant la sécurisation alimentaire comme un processus (Dury et Janin, 2012 ; Héron et Janin, 2015).

La plateforme technologique PANELS pour la recherche en sciences humaines et sociale de l'Institut des Sciences de l'Homme (ISH) co-organise avec la TGIR PROGEDO une journée d'étude ayant pour thématique « L'enquête sociale européenne (ESS) : recherche, analyse, méthodologies ». Cet événement sera l'occasion d'aborder l’enquête ESS sous différents angles. La matinée sera consacrée à une présentation générale de l'enquête et à deux exemples de travaux de recherche utilisant ses données. L'après-midi, deux ateliers pratiques seront proposés : ils seront dédiés à l'accès et à l'exploitation des données. Des posters présenteront également d'autres travaux de recherche utilisant les résultats de l'enquête ESS en lien avec ses thématiques socio-politiques.

Hoje, mais do que nunca, importa estudar as variáveis territoriais das formações sociais, uma vez que o espaço atua cada vez mais, a várias escalas, como força de integração, mas também de exclusão, segregação e relegação, contribuindo ativamente para a criação e recomposição de injustiças, de diferenças e de desigualdades. O território não é um mero cenário onde se projetam os atores sociais. Dotado de especificidades, resiste ou favorece as dinâmicas sociais, pela mediação das práticas, pela sua historicidade, pela sua configuração própria, influenciando quer a distribuição dos grupos sociais no espaço, quer as tipologias das formas de habitação, quer mesmo o planeamento e o urbanismo.
