  Le terme « ethnoscénologie » est apparu pour la première fois en titre d’un manifeste publié dans la revue Théâtre/Public (1995). Les auteurs déclaraient la nécessité de proposer un néologisme constitué autour du lexème - « scéno » - dérivé du grec skénos désignant le corps dans son entièreté psychosomatique. Le choix de ce formant neutre : « scéno », permet d’inclure non seulement les pratiques considérées comme artistiques dans certaines cultures, mais également l’ensemble des formes performatives qu’elles soient festives, carnavalesques, circassiennes, cérémonielles (rituels), théâtrales, parlées, chantées, dansées. Le manifeste entendait s’opposer à tout préjugé, censure, stéréotype, ethnocentrisme, réductionnisme dans l’étude de la diversité des productions humaines fondées dans l’imaginaire.

  Rethinking translation

  Now that the scientific and political issues of our society belong to a world-system (Wallerstein, Arrighi, Amin), translation plays more than ever a central role in the circulation of texts and ideas. Translating is a cognitive and social activity that informs the way we relate to reality and to others. It implies a particular worldview and has cognitive, social, ethical and political effects. From this perspective, thinking and practicing translation as a neutral operation is a form of denial of its ethical and political significance. A model of translation as a simple transfer of meaning from one text to another is not acceptable given the complexity of the factors and actors involved. Hence the need to rethink translation in the light of contemporary issues.

  Le présent appel à contribution porte sur la question de la monstration (exhibition) et la dissimulation (pudeur) du corps humain dans l'espace public. Que peut-on montrer dans la société ? Que doit-on dissimuler ? Quelles injonctions sont faites aux sujets ? Où place-t-on le curseur de la monstration / dissimulation chez les acteurs que sont le législateur, le juge, le sujet de droit, le justiciable (demandeur / défendeur) qui serait sujet montrant ou regardant ? Quelles opérations de codage, de catégorisation, de normalisation, de responsabilisation, ou encore de dressage de la corporéité sont à l’œuvre dans la société, en général, chez le législateur et le juge, plus particulièrement ? Les aspects suivants seront abordés : le corps saisi par les religions et la morale ; le corps du délinquant sexuel et du patient ; le corps sans entraves et sexuel ; le corps et/de l'artiste ; le corps de la revendication et de la contestation.

  Foreign Students, Intellectuals and Artists in France in May-June ‘68

  The historiography of the '68 years has recently favoured a global approach to social movements, emphasizing movement and exchange between countries and continents. This historiography is very rich, as is the one concerning more specifically the French May. Nevertheless, there are still some blind spots, or some areas that have not been explored. One of these is the role of foreign students, or more broadly foreign intellectuals and artists (writers, artists, musicians, teachers, etc.) in France in May-June ‘68. This presence of foreigners in France has been the subject of studies when it comes to immigrant workers, whose significant participation in the May movement is now known. But the presence of students and/or intellectuals, and therefore their participation in the movement, is still largely ignored. Many of them studied in the French capital, or in other university towns in the area. They represented 5.7% of the total student population in 1968-1969, and this number sharply increased from the end of 1968.  They were African (North Africa and sub-Saharan Africa), European (German, Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, Greek, British), South American, Israeli, North American (United States or Quebec), Palestinian. They generally adhered to the French May while implementing specific logics linked to the political and social conditions of their country of origin.
