  Le(s) temps du care

  Parce qu’on a tendance à employer le mot « care » seul, distinguer l’éthique du care du « care » peut s’avérer fécond. Le « care » se veut un synonyme de l’empathie, du soin et de la résilience. Si les sciences sociales se sont déjà proposé d’étudier conjointement care et temps, aucun événement porté à notre connaissance n’a encore été organisé qui rapprocherait éthique du care et temporalité(s) avec les perspectives, corpus et méthodologies propres aux sciences humaines. Cette journée d’étude, organisée par des doctorant·es et jeunes docteur·es de l’unité de recherche Héritages et constructions dans le texte et l’image (HCTI), université de Bretagne Occidentale, collège doctoral de Bretagne (ED ALL), entend contribuer à mettre en lumière l’intérêt de ce champ de recherche relativement émergent pour penser nos manières d’habiter le monde et d’en prendre soin, qu’elles soient passées, présentes ou futures.

  Missionary strategies and practices, slavery and forced labour (early 19th-mid 20th century)

  Another discussion on the institutional position of the churches in relation to slavery will be resolutely avoided. What will be analysed is the concrete confrontation —or cohabitation— with slavery. What did missionaries know about their slave environment? How did they learn about it? How did they take a stand? How did they act–or not? Same questions as far as indentured labour and the colonial forms of forced labour were concerned. Were there confrontations, mediations and misunderstandings?

  Téléphone portable : une alternative de production audiovisuelle ?

  Au cours de l’histoire du cinéma et de l’audiovisuel, l’allègement des instruments de prise de vue a souvent donné lieu à des innovations esthétiques importantes, tout comme à l’expérimentation de nouvelles modalités sociales et économiques dans la fabrication d’un film. Or, parallèlement à la commercialisation de caméras de plus en plus maniables, puis d’appareils photos autorisant la prise de vues animées, un nouvel outil ne cesse de se perfectionner en matière de qualité de prise d’images : le téléphone portable. Comment penser, en termes d’alternative, l’apparition de ce nouvel instrument dans les modalités de production d’images animées ? Comment a évolué le statut du téléphone portable dans les pratiques professionnelles au fil des années ? Quels sont les usages différenciés qui sont faits selon les régions du monde ? Ce sont à ces questions que ce colloque entend apporter des pistes de réflexion, tout en s’ouvrant à toutes les pistes d’investigation novatrice en la matière.

  Architectural photography

  “Architectural photography (kenchiku shashin 建築写真)” is an expansive and multifaceted notion, approached differently by architects, urban planners, interior designers, developers, publishers, amateur photographers, commissioned professional photographers, or artists. This confrontation of meanings and uses is what interests us. Indeed, while architectural photography has been widely and regularly displayed since the 19^th century, through albums, dedicated magazines, serial publications, photobooks, and exhibitions, there is currently no in-depth study that allows for a global understanding. Therefore, we have decided to initiate a seminar that aims to formulate a definition of this notion that encompasses all of its complexity.

  Ce colloque, présenté au sein du congrès de l’Acfas 2023 (colloque no.403) s’intéresse aux études de fans, ces publics à la réception active et même performative, qui forment un champ de recherche dynamique, surtout dans les milieux anglophones. Du côté de la recherche francophone, les études de fans, après avoir accusé un certain retard, semblent entrer dans une phase importante de structuration. Ce colloque offrira une occasion de contribuer à la structuration des études de fans en français et de saisir le momentum autour des enjeux touchant les fans et leurs pratiques, tant dans les démarches de recherche des chercheur·euses que des étudiant·es.

  Ce séminaire se propose d’interroger la question des archives absentes, délaissées, cachées ou invisibles et de questionner l’archive comme institution afin de mettre au jour les mécanismes et stratégies qui sous-tendent sa « fabrique ». Le point de départ sera d’interroger trois domaines minorisés de l’histoire littéraire et culturelle contemporaine de langue allemande et les questions archivistiques qui s’y rattachent.

  The purpose of the conference is to shed light on cooperation and controversy aspects in Scandinavia, the Baltic Sea Region, and beyond. It examines the two topics through the lens of cultural and literary studies (including arts such as drama, theater, cinema, etc.), history, economic and trade analysis, political science, military analysis, and international relations, among other multidisciplinary angles. We thus invite researchers from all of these fields to submit proposals for panels and individual papers, thereby facilitating inter-disciplinary dialogues at the conference.

  Le religieux et le cinéma

  Appel à contribution pour un numéro thématique de Religiologiques sur le religieux et le cinéma. C’est donc à un exercice interprétatif auquel auteurs et autrices sont convié·es, c’est-à-dire analyser des films en lien avec leurs contenus religieux, mais également repérer des structures et des fonctions proprement religieuses dans les films. En d’autres mots, cette proposition tentera de mettre à jour ce qui est dans l’angle mort de la recherche en sciences humaines : l’étude de l’objet filmique comme étant à la fois vecteur de cinématographie et de religiosité. Pour ce faire, trois axes seront priorisés, les mêmes qui ont d’ailleurs été élaborés par Jacques Pierre dans son texte « La stratification du discours religieux et la modernité » (2010) : matériaux, structure et fonction.

  Journées d’étude sur la photographie interférentielle

  À l’Institut de physique de Lille, au début du XX^e siècle, Auguste Ponsot cherche à améliorer le procédé de photographie directe des couleurs de Gabriel Lippmann, qui obtiendra le prix Nobel de physique en 1908 pour sa méthode interférentielle. Les 15 plaques d’Auguste Ponsot, parvenues jusqu’à nous avec leurs remarquables couleurs, sont une étape nouvelle dans l’histoire de la photographie interférentielle. Cette manifestation a pour objet de favoriser la rencontre entre les chercheurs, les historiens, les scientifiques, les artistes, la communauté universitaire, la communauté internationale et le grand public, pour faire connaître ce patrimoine, cette technique oubliée et les enjeux de son actualité.

  The Agency of Plants in the Literature and the Arts of the French- and English-Speaking Worlds (19th c. – 21st c.)

  We would like to invite contributors to rethink the agency of plants in the literature and arts of the anglophone and the francophone worlds from the nineteenth century to the present day. The aim of the conference is to reflect on the active role of plants in texts and visual representations, and think about the aesthetic, political, and epistemological implications of this form of agency. We will analyse the way in which plants act upon and with the human world from an anthrodecentric perspective. We will look at how plants can organise or disorganise our world, call into question established truths, and shape power relations, including political ones.
