International Sikh Studies Conference
The conference aims to provide an interdisciplinary platform for scholars and researchers to engage in critical discussions on Sikhs, and Sikhism, encompassing a variety of historical, social, cultural, political, and religious perspectives. This call for papers aims to explore the multifacted dimensions of Sikh identity, history, politics and religion. Scholars are invited to engage with themese such as Sikh resilience and adaptation, the impact of political upheavals on their global presence, the challenges posed by rleigious ignorance, and the implications of their stateless nationhood. By fostering academic discource on these pressing issues, we aim to deepen our collective understanding of the Sikh experience and its relevance in contemporary societies.

À l’ordre du jour des agendas politiques et médiatiques internationaux depuis quelques années, la question de la restitution des biens culturels africains spoliés pendant les siècles précédents continue d’être appréhendée majoritairement sous un prisme occidentalo-centré. Au cœur des échanges et discussions qui alimentent ce processus s’invitent des thématiques axées sur les cadres juridiques des pays détenteurs, leurs définitions de l’« objet d’art » ou de l’« artefact », de même que sur l’universalité du musée de type occidental. Les entités disputées se trouvent être aussi au centre de réalités complexes, de motivations et de dynamiques se déployant au sein des sociétés africaines, et qui sont méconnues dans leurs lieux d’exil.

According to some specialists, sport is a universal phenomenon which, in various forms, has always existed. For others, the existence of sport in Antiquity cannot be envisaged because, at that time, it was a cultural practice with a strong religious dimension. Whatever these debates, sport can be defined as an activity practiced alone or in a group, an activity requiring physical qualities, strength, skill, reflexes, endurance, and moral qualities. Practitioners observe rules specific to each sport, exercise for their own pleasure, their health or compete in competitions. This activity is partially institutionalized: many sportsmen and women join specialized clubs, affiliated to federations that define regulations and organize official competitions, Olympic Games, world, national and regional championships, tournaments, grand prix, land or sea races, etc.

Arts et environnement dans la Grande Caraïbe
Comment les pratiques artistiques dans la Grande Caraïbe décrivent-elles, reflètent-elles et réimагinent-elles les crises environnementales contemporaines ? Cet appel à contributions pour un numéro spécial d’Études Caribéennes explore l’intersection entre arts et environnement face aux défis écologiques majeurs de la région caribéenne : élévation du niveau de la mer, prolifération des sargasses, intensification des ouragans, et pollution. Ce numéro sollicite des approches transdisciplinaires s'inspirant des arts et humanités, des sciences environnementales, de l’écocritique et de la pensée décoloniale (cette liste n'est pas exhaustive). Les contributions examineront comment artistes, communautés et institutions culturelles participent à l'émergence de nouvelles collaborations science-société, utilisant l’art comme outil de sensibilisation et d’action environnementale dans l’archipel caribéen.

La temporalité est un élément central des politiques migratoires en Belgique et en Europe. Le choix de la thématique se fonde sur l’observation que les migrant·e·s et les travailleurs sociaux qui les accompagnent sont confrontés à et contraints par des temporalités multiples (délais, urgence, attente, impatience, vie, âge, présent…), choisies ou imposées, individuelles ou collectives. Qu’est-ce que la multiplicité des temporalités vécues produit comme effets ? Comment affecte-t-elle collectivement et individuellement les personnes engagées dans les processus migratoires et leur accompagnement ? Comment cette « temporaireté permanente » (Merla, Sarolea et Schoumaker, 2022 : 3) est-elle vécue par les personnes migrantes, mais aussi par les travailleurs·euses sociaux·ales qui sont chargé·e·s d’accompagner ces parcours ?

How can comparison and historical perspective on these two issues help us better understand their political, legal, and social dimensions? The aim of our proposal is, in fact, to highlight them, while at the same time trying not to overlook the differences, starting with the social structure of the two populations and their identity construction.

Translation and Translators in the Colonial Context
Roles, Functions and Narratives
The chronological reading of colonial contexts allows us to identify the “organic” link between translation and the colonial project, before, during and after the military occupation. Translation has acquired several functions; highlighting the role of the translator between the narratives of the colonizer and that of the colonized. Until 2000, seventy percent of the world's population had a “colonial” past, either as a colonizer or as a colonized. (Etemad, 258), which suggests that more than seventy percent of the world's population have been affected, and perhaps still are, through the prism of translation. The Conference will attempt to understand how translation was put at the service of the colonial project? What translation approaches have been adopted by translators and interpreters? How did translational discourse influence the cultures of the occupier and the occupied?

Dans un contexte de massification et de marchandisation de l’enseignement supérieur, les migrations académiques se sont considérablement développées ces toutes dernières décennies. Les destinations se sont diversifiées. Et tandis que l’immigration fait l’objet de très vives tensions dans de nombreux pays, les politiques migratoires des États sont devenues souvent plus sélectives, y compris pour les étudiant·es. Toutes ces évolutions incitent à s’interroger sur les conditions dans lesquelles se déroulent aujourd’hui cette mobilité académique. L’appel vise à recueillir des contributions s’inscrivant dans les thématiques suivantes : les politiques migratoires académiques et leur mise en œuvre sur les terrains du recrutement ; La construction du projet de migration pour études et sa confrontation aux dispositifs de sélection ; Les conditions de vie et d’études des étudiant·es internationaux et leur devenir.

Firstly, it is important to define the terms of the subject. An endemic disease is one that persists permanently in a given region, such as malaria. An epidemic occurs when a contagious disease affects a large number of people at a specific time. A pandemic occurs when the disease rapidly spreads to a significant portion of the planet.

Histories of Photography from the Struggles for Independence: practices, circulations and aesthetics
It's a well-known fact that the history of photography as a discipline has for the most part been constructed as that of "Western" photography, more specifically that of Europe and the United States. Between the introduction of so-called "extra-Western" photographers on the contemporary art market since the 1990s and the numerous works on the history of the medium during colonial periods, there is still a lack of information on the history of photography from the liberation and independence struggles onwards, from a global and transnational perspective, across all geographical zones. The aim of this colloquium is to highlight the histories of photography generated during the processes of decolonization, while rethinking methodological and aesthetic approaches to the medium that are still too Western-centric.

Obsolescence, innovations et mutations sémantiques des termes de la Mission
En 2024, l’Association francophone œcuménique de missiologie célèbre les trente ans de sa création et organise un colloque à cette occasion. Regroupant tant des universitaires que des acteurs de terrain, elle constitue un lieu d’étude et de recherche autour de la notion de mission dans le christianisme et du fait missionnaire. En trente ans, le phénomène missionnaire, mais aussi les mots qui le décrivent ont considérablement évolué. L’objectif de ce colloque est de mesurer d'un point de vue interdisciplinaire l'évolution du vocabulaire qui détermine la mission et ses champs sémantiques, ainsi que les obsolescences voire les disparitions de certains termes. Plusieurs disciplines en dialogue sont souhaitées : théologie, histoire, sociologie, linguistique... De même la perspective œcuménique chrétienne sera soulignée.

L’objectif visé dans ce colloque est d’aborder la diversité des « ailleurs » (ses traductions, ses conséquences, la place de l’altérité) qui se rencontrent dans nos universités (en France, dans d’autres pays francophones) à partir de projets liés à la francophonie (dans sa dimension institutionnelle et expérientielle), au travers des expériences de mobilités, échanges, partenariats, participants de la dynamique de la vie universitaire et lieux particuliers où se nouent des formes diverses de relations au français.
