Cultural Heritage and digital tools
In 2022, Jean Monnet University - Saint-Étienne, its Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the Environment - City - Society Laboratory (UMR 5600 - CNRS) launched a series of annual international seminars on the use of digital tools (geomatics, 3D, sound reconstruction, etc.) for the study and management of cultural heritage. Given the success of previous editions, both among Master's students and colleagues and professionals, the seminar series will continue, with a new edition to be held on February 4, 2026

« Turâb’26 » : Expériences de la matérialité de la construction en terre
Every handful of earth holds a story of "de-materiality," where the sensory philosophy of earth coexists with innovations and new technologies that push its technical limits in a desire to destigmatize it. Although durable and ecological, earth as a material faces cultural resistance tied to an image of precariousness, a perception fostered by modernity. Thus, in the context of alarming climate change, reinventing earthen construction has become urgent, if not necessary. This conference approaches research on earthen construction at the crossroads of poetics, engineering, and innovation. By highlighting earth architecture in Tunisia and around the world, it offers a transdisciplinary and resilient perspective on a universal material, putting its inextricably linked material and immaterial dimensions in tension.

Cultural heritages et digital tools
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Université Jean Monnet - Saint-Étienne and the Environnement Cities and Society (EVS) lab organise the second edition of the international seminar “Cultural heritage and digital tools”. A wide range of topics and themes will be covered, including the mapping of the “Holy Land” on the moasaïc tiles of Madaba (Jordan), the “Walk to Plato’s Academy” application (Athènes), the archaeology of soundscape, 3D modelling of Jože Plečnik’s unfinished projects in Lubljana, 3D GIS and virtual reality.

La conservation et la restauration d’un édifice historique exigent la collaboration des intervenants traditionnels à l'acte de construire : les maîtres d’œuvre, le maître d’ouvrage et les entreprises (artisans, tailleurs de pierre, charpentiers, couvreurs, etc.). Pour les assister dans les diagnostics et la prise de décisions, ces acteurs font appel à des domaines de compétences aussi variées que l'histoire, l'archéologie, la microbiologie, la chimie, l'imagerie, la géologie, la science des matériaux ou l'ingénierie des structures.

L’Association des archivistes français (AAF) organise, au printemps 2016 (30, 31 mars et 1er avril), à Troyes, la deuxième édition de son forum. Comme nous partageons tous aujourd’hui le constat que le numérique a envahi toutes les facettes et fonctions des archives, cette deuxième édition du forum de l’AAF se propose de questionner les métamorphoses des archives au contact du numérique, suivant une double approche, épistémologique et méthodologique.

Cartografia storica e GIS nella gestione, tutela e valorizzazione dei beni ambientali e culturali
Call for papers per partecipare al VII seminario "Dalla mappa al GIS", che si terrà a Roma il 6 e 7 giugno 2013, presso il laboratorio geocartografico "Giuseppe Caraci". Il seminario si prefigge lo scopo non solo di proporre spunti e favorire riflessioni sull’utilizzo dei laboratori geocartografici universitari come sostegno alla didattica e alla ricerca, ma in particolare, riunendo studiosi provenienti da più aree disciplinari, di promuovere future politiche di collaborazione e di scambio, ipotizzare progetti comuni, fra quanti sono interessati alla cartografia storica e alle più recenti applicazioni informatiche alla progettazione e gestione del territorio e all’analisi delle sue dinamiche.
