Since the 19th century, the cyclical crises of our industrial societies have fuelled multiple initiatives aimed at envisioning another possible world. Yet recent decades have revealed a state of profound crisis that leads us to doubt, more radically than ever, the validity and sustainability of our ways of thinking and acting. Our futures are at stake, our models of society are being strained under the pressure of climate change, social and societal upheavals, public health crises, and political instability. In this context, human labour is an undeniable issue. In these times of transition, ways of thinking about and acting on work increasingly integrate the utopian dimension, which underlies the evolution of both the worlds of work and communities of life. This issue will therefore be an opportunity to take stock of the state of the art.

Les risques dans l’industrie aéronautique et spatial
“Nacelles” journal
The journal “Nacelles” will focus one of its next issues on the notion of risk in the aeronautics and space fields. Proposition of articles from various disciplinary and epistemological approaches will be welcomed. The purpose of this issue will be to question the risk through two main angles (non-exhaustive): 1- The qualification and the management of “internal” risks to the organization; 2- The management of the “external” risks to the organization.

II NETCOR Congress
Four years after the foundation of NETCOR at NOVA FCSH, in Lisbon, and after several interdisciplinary meetings and congresses held in recent years in several participating research centres that were the founders of this Network, in Europe and Brazil, the II NETCOR Congress is announced. The theme of this first edition of the Biennal Congress, of an international and interdisciplinary nature, is devoted to labour transformations and aims to discuss theoretical and empirical explanations of the changing nature of labour organization and labour regimes in the contemporary period, from 1850 to 1945.

À la suite du dépôt par le groupe de distribution Casino à la ville de Saint-Étienne de son patrimoine historique, et notamment de 200 mètres linéaires d'archives, un programme d'expositions et de différentes manifestations a été établi sous l'égide d'un conseil scientifique, qu'un colloque à l'automne 2020 viendra clore. Cet appel à communications vise à aborder l'histoire des entreprises commerciales de la fin du XIXe siècle à nos jours à travers quatre dimensions (formes de l'entreprise, relations aux territoires, formes de vente et de consommations, personne). Le colloque accueillera des travaux qui traiteront de toutes approches, périodes ou terrains français ou étrangers dans cette branche économique. Les langues de travail seront le français et l’anglais. Il se tiendra à Saint-Étienne sur deux journées.

Tourism and gender in the world: transversal questions and local specificities
Ce colloque souhaite répondre à un triple objectif. D’abord, visibiliser les travaux sur le tourisme qui tiennent compte du genre. Ceci en soulevant les questions des pratiques touristiques, du travail des femmes et des hommes dans le tourisme, des inégalités qui perdurent dans les parcours professionnels, etc. La question des sexualités et du tourisme, encore peu traitée scientifiquement et pourtant fortement médiatisée, que ce soit en lien avec la prostitution ou le tourisme sexuel, sera un axe important qui permettra de déconstruire certaines représentations. Enfin, au-delà des expériences de terrain questionnant le tourisme et le genre dans le monde, des communications et échanges sont aussi attendus au sujet du monde arabe.

Digital capitalism and new forms of business
Les secteurs des hautes technologies, de l’informatique puis du numérique, ont constamment été le creuset d’expérimentations organisationnelles depuis le début du siècle dernier. Cette journée pluridisciplinaire poursuit deux objectifs : d’une part, réinscrire les débats actuels sur les transformations du capitalisme dit « numérique » et de ses formes productives dans cette histoire longue ; d’autre part, explorer les expérimentations organisationnelles qui se développent à côté et au-delà du modèle des plateformes, qui focalise aujourd’hui l’attention. A partir d’interventions d’historiens, de sociologues, de gestionnaires et d’économistes sur les transformations du capitalisme high-tech et sur les entreprises et plateformes alternatives,elle vise à susciter des échanges croisés sur les dynamiques et tensions qui traversent aujourd’hui le secteur numérique.

International migrations and labour from the 70s to the present
Since the 70s the presence of migrants in Europe, and especially in Italy, has become a structural issue and has been at the center of the public and political debate. The progressive demolition of welfare systems, the job precariousness, and new consumer lifestyles have generated different responses in terms of regulation of the admissions of foreign citizens in search of a job and their management (housing issues, access to health care, etc.). Both with regard to organization of forms of protection of immigrants in the exercise of theirs fundamental rights, especially in cases of serious discrimination and exploitation (immigrant associations, trade union action, etc.).

En sa première année, le séminaire Futurs de la protection sociale : l'allocation universelle en question(s) offrira, grâce à l’intervention d’universitaires (parmi lesquels Philippe Van Parijs et Yannick Vanderborght) et d’une pluralité d’acteurs de terrain, un tour d’horizon des problématiques soulevées par l’allocation universelle, qu’il s’agisse de son histoire, sa faisabilité, sa désirabilité ou encore des transformations qu’elle pourrait impliquer dans la mise en œuvre de la protection sociale française.

À rebours de nombre d’essais et d’analyses qui, de longue date, diagnostiquent et/ou prédisent l’extinction ou la marginalisation des conflits du travail, le présent appel vise à susciter des contributions qui montrent comment ces conflits se recomposent, dans leurs formes comme dans leurs enjeux. Le volume des journées de grève a reculé au profit de luttes plus morcelées, moins visibles, avec ou sans arrêt de travail. Inspirés en particulier par la sociologie des mouvements sociaux, des travaux mettent en particulier l’accent sur la façon dont les militants syndicaux adaptent leurs stratégies de recours aux pièces traditionnelles du répertoire de l’action collective, en fonction des opportunités et des contraintes avec lesquelles il leur faut composer dans un monde du travail bouleversé.

Topical Issue of "Open Economics" Journal
This topical issue of Open Economics invites submissions that explore both qualitatively and quantitatively how various cities have developed into global hubs of economic activity both historically and contemporaneously. The theoretical and methodological focus of this issue is the application of comparative methods for the purpose of analyzing economic systems in terms that go beyond neo-classical assumptions of economic theory found in conventional macro and micro economics. This also connects to the scholarly discourse on the varieties of capitalism or modernity as a perspective expected to be instructive for considering the preconditions for and effects of the rise of global financial and economic centers, such as London, New York and Hong Kong historically and Singapore, Tokyo and Shanghai more recently.

Workshop on Transnational History of Socialism (Second Half of 19th Century to 1914)
Two centuries after the birth of Karl Marx, European researchers show a renewed interest in socialism studies. However, this has coincided with the unprecedented decline of the traditional workers’ movement. Frequently, these studies involve an international and transnational dimension. Internationalism can be studied under this light. Using new methods, the current seminar aims to study the relations and differences between socialism and socialists of different nationalities. The framework of the nation-state, still predominant in the studies about the transmission and diffusion of the Left ideas, must be transcended to grasp the global challenge [Middell, 2004]. Moreover, refocusing socialism studies in this global direction means finally exceeding the classic Eurocentric vision.

The review Travail et Emploi is planning a thematic issue dedicated to the analysis of the various reforms implemented over the last ten years in the OECD countries to support employment. The OECD and the European Commission have widely recommended reforms aimed at labour market flexibilisation and lowering labour costs, while at the same time countries were undergoing strong budget constraints on both public expenditure and public employment.

Socio-economic approaches to sexuality
La sexualité est une forme d’échange social qui relève à la fois du symbolique, du politique, du juridique, mais aussi – et c’est ce qui nous intéresse ici – de l’économique. Si quelques ouvrages récents consacrent des développements à la question, l’économie de la sexualité est absente des principaux ouvrages de synthèse. Ce colloque vise à discuter des travaux en sciences sociales qui examinent les rapports entre la sexualité et l’économie. Cet événement scientifique se tiendra à Lille, les 12 et 13 octobre 2017. Chacune des sessions sera discutée par un chercheur membre du comité scientifique.
