AI and Ideologies: Navigating between Digital Capitalism and Illiberal theories
Over the past decade, scholarship on digital authoritarianism has rapidly expanded, highlighting how governments and political actors increasingly appropriate digital technologies to surveil, discipline, and mobilize populations. While much of this work has focused on state-driven practices of control, censorship, and surveillance, the rise of artificial intelligence (AI)—and more recently, generative AI systems—has introduced us to a new terrain on which ideological struggles play out. Beyond the familiar logics of repression and manipulation, AI is being instrumentalized by political actors, intellectual entrepreneurs, and transnational networks who seek to frame, deploy, and reorient AI in line with illiberal worldviews.

Knowledge from the margins, marginal knowledge?
Sources, scope, and legitimacy of critical economic knowledge
The study of economic knowledge and its political influence has largely focused on central sites of power and on its academic production. This conference seeks to broaden that perspective by examining marginalized economic knowledge and the dynamics of its (de-)marginalization. It will specifically address the development of lay or relegated economic theories and practices, considering their logic of legitimation, the actors, spaces, and actions that generate them, and their relative autonomy. The conference will concentrate on the long twentieth century and welcomes proposals from all disciplines within the humanities and social sciences.

Articuler les traditions politico-intellectuelles de l’écoféminisme français et allemand dans une perspective globale
In light of the ecological crisis ecofeminist thought that first emerged as political-ethical and theoretical field during the late 1970s and 1980s has flourished in French and German debates during the last decade. The aim of the conference is to examine the ways in which ecofeminist theory is currently discussed in France and Germany, and how – in both national contexts – the respective traditions of ecofeminist thought and politics are re-articulated, criticized and transformed. Thereby the question how post- and neo-colonial power relations that shape the current ecological situation are addressed in ecofeminist thought will be of central importance. The conference seeks to re-evaluate traditions of ecofeminist thought in French and German speaking contexts, their uneven circulation and their present-day re-articulations.

Against this backdrop, we invite scholars of sport as a social phenomenon and institution – historians, sociologists, political scientists, International Relations and Media and Communications scholars – to submit proposals addressing the multifaceted nexus between sport and international politics.

Être engagé, sans s’engager, pour ne pas se désengager… la formule vient d’un étudiant en formation d’éducateur spécialisé, elle a le mérite d’illustrer la complexité des modalités d’engagement de notre époque. Pour éclairer ces questions nous réunirons philosophes, politologues, personnes concernées, artistes, travailleurs sociaux, formateurs, sociologues, journalistes, acteurs de l’économie sociale et solidaire pendant trois jours pour échanger, débattre, imaginer, créer et partager autour de cette épineuse question : Quelles sont les formes d’engagement actuelles ? Peut-on encore parler d’engagement dans le travail social ?

Ouvrage collectif sur les secteurs de la santé et de l’éducation
Loin d’être l’apanage de l’Afrique, la corruption est un phénomène bien connu à travers le monde entier. Aucun État « riche » ou « pauvre » n’échappe à cette réalité. Mais, ce qui fait la différence, c’est plutôt son ampleur et son mode d’emploi centralisé ou décentralisé. Incontestablement, lorsqu’elle trouve un terrain propice à sa propagation. La corruption peut arriver jusqu’à bloquer le développement socio-économique d’un pays dans la mesure où elle va à l’encontre des fondements de l’action publique. Comment la corruption est-elle organisée dans les structures de santé et de l’éducation gérées par les États et les confessions religieuses ? Comment cette corruption est-elle pratiquée ? Qui en sont les acteurs clefs, les bénéficiaires et les perdants ? Quelles sont les ressources formelles et informelles qui sont mobilisées par les uns et les autres ? Quels sont les effets qui en découlent dans la fourniture des services publics dans les deux secteurs précités ?

Le paradigme de la croissance en droit public
Certaines instances, comme l’Union européenne, nous invitent à poursuivre une croissance « durable », « verte », ou « éthique ». Plus radicaux, certains auteurs nous engagent à en finir avec ce « paradigme croissanciel » longtemps incontesté. Si ce contexte intellectuel mouvementé nourrit bien des interrogations, les juristes français ne s’étaient jamais encore vraiment penchés sur la question de la croissance. Ce colloque colloque inédit porte sur le paradigme de la croissance en droit public et vise à en identifier les causes et les effets, à évaluer les possibilités de son dépassement et à tracer quelques perspectives d’avenir.

Digitalisation and creation of alternative monetary and financial spaces
This workshop proposes to explore the intersection between digitalisation and alternative monetary spaces developed in response to the sustainable development objectives. The Covid 19 pandemic has accentuated the challenges posed by digitalisation and highlighted its contradictory characteristics. On the one hand, the phenomenon allows, thanks to its technical potential, the valorization of local initiatives; on the other hand, it can favor forms of dehumanization and predation, likely to undermine the collective trust on which these spaces are based. The workshop proposed to address the contradictory nature of digitalisation processes from the perspective of their potential to strenghten and/or challenge economic and social cohesion.

Water and agriculture in the Arab world
Le développement agricole des pays arabes est intrinsèquement lié aux problématiques de la gouvernance de l’eau, car l’agriculture présente à elle seule environ 85 % des prélèvements totaux en eau au Moyen-Orient. Compte tenu de cette situation, et prenant en considération que la région du Moyen-Orient est présentée comme l’une des plus pauvres en eau d’ici 2050 (World Resource Institute, 2019), il devient urgent de repenser le modèle agricole qui se trouve à l’origine de ce déséquilibre. Un modèle agricole moins tourné vers l’export et davantage axé sur les spécificités géographiques et hydriques de chaque pays, permettrait-il de lutter efficacement contre la « pénurie d’eau » dans la région ?

L’émergence de la maintenance militaire prédictive en France » (Predict Op - coordonné par Alina Surubaru) le Centre Émile Durkheim (CED) lance un appel à candidature pour une allocation post-doctorale d’un an, renouvelable une fois. Ce contrat postdoctoral s’intégrera à la fois dans l’axe « Savoirs : sciences, environnement, santé (SENS) » du CED et dans les différents axes du projet de recherche Predict Op.

The Materialities of the Energy Transition in Mountain Regions: for a Critical Approach
The materialities of energy transition raise questions about the place of mountain territories. Particularly sensitive, and even vulnerable areas to the effects of global change, these spaces are idealized as “a nature to be preserved", pilot territories but also important suppliers of raw materials. Examining energy transitions from a critical materiality perspective invites exploration of the ethics of energy, in terms of availability of resources, provision of services to isolated populations, together with new consumption behaviors and new ways of operating. Three dimensions of materiality will be explored: (1) resources, the materials necessary for the technologies on which transition is based; (2) location, place-dependence for energy production; and (3) infrastructures, their evolution or permanence, questioning their materiality, acceptance and landscape integration in response to new ways of conceiving energy.

Ce constat est le point de départ de notre réflexion collective sur les changements de nos modes de vie. Comment vivre ? Sans doute bien différemment, dès aujourd’hui, et plus encore demain, compte tenu des fragilités de longue date du monde méditerranéen. Changer nos modes de vie ? Telle est la question qui servira de fil conducteur au cours des six séances de notre atelier de recherche, en 2020.

Creating social inequality in health - appraising the social sciences
Passée au crible des sciences sociales
Les inégalités sociales de santé (ISS) sont aujourd’hui clairement portées au jour par une épidémiologie ouverte aux déterminations sociales et sensible aux parcours biographiques des individus. Outre les travaux pionniers (Lang, 1993 ; Leclerc, Fassin, Grandjean, Kaminski, Lang, 2000 ; Leclerc, Kaminski, Lang, 2008 ; HCSP, 2010), la somme publiée dernièrement (Haschar-Noé, Lang, 2017) ne laisse plus guère de doutes sur l’ampleur des injustices qu’elles représentent et le jeu complexe des distinctions, divisions et contradictions sociales, par ailleurs grosses de tensions, qu’elles contribuent à générer, entretenir et aggraver. Si ce constat préoccupant, situant la France parmi les pays les plus inégalitaires d’Europe occidentale, est livré au débat public et son inscription à l’agenda public régulièrement invoquée (à défaut d’être réellement convoquée), il est un point qu’il reste à investir afin de mieux comprendre les ISS et, de fait, entreprendre de les réduire : les logiques multiples, complexes et enchâssées de leur implacable construction.
