Tant dans l’espace journalistique que sur les murs mêmes de la ville, la caricature politique et l’illustration graphique constituent des sources de la culture visuelle qui condensent et montrent les batailles symboliques qui se livraient dans la rue, allant même jusqu’à redéfinir les codes et les pratiques utilisés dans l’espace public. À la croisée de l’histoire politique, de l’histoire de l’art, des études culturelles et de l’analyse urbaine, ce colloque propose d’examiner les façons dont la caricature politique, la satire visuelle et l’illustration graphique ont influencé la représentation et les usages de l’espace urbain au cours du « long XIXe siècle » espagnol.

The Refugee-Migrant Distinction: Toward a Global History
The aim of this international conference is to more fully elucidate the relational nature of the distinction between refugees and migrants, its function in the wider field of migration, and its genealogy. While chiefly historical in focus, the conference will also foster interdisciplinary approaches and reflections.

Minority Uses of the Past and Dynamics of Power in the Americas (19th–21st Centuries)
This conference follows on from an initial meeting, which focused on the forms of uses of the past, to examine the consequences of these uses and their results, both on national history and on minorities, as well as on disciplines and their methods. Researchers from different disciplines are invited to reflect on the same subjects from the perspective of their methods: anthropologists, sociologists, geographers, historians, specialists in literary studies, cultural studies, art historians, and linguists. The following four themes may guide proposals for papers.

Research Seminar on New Diplomatic and Contemporary History
Taking place in several sessions from January to May 2026, the Vu du Quai research seminar is named after the memoirs of the French ambassador, Henri Froment-Meurice (1923–2018). It will address various issues relating to the history of French diplomatic relations in the 20th and 21st centuries. The seminar is open to established and young researchers, as well as doctoral students, who wish to promote their work and participate in the discussions. Professionals in the fields of archives, heritage, and diplomacy are also invited to participate, with the aim of strengthening the interconnection between disciplines and areas of expertise.

Exploring Complicity and Conflict in the Relations between Anarchists and Environmentalists (19th–21st Centuries)
This multidisciplinary conference aims to explore the relations between anarchism(s) and ecology(ies) from the 19th century to the present day. It seeks to fill a historiographical blind spot by examining the richness of anarchist ‘environmental reflexivity’, from precursors such as Kropotkin and Reclus to their contemporary reconfigurations. Anarchism's historical rejection of centralised power structures and the productivism of the ‘machine age’ makes it one of the political traditions most in tune with current ecological imperatives. By revisiting these affinities and tensions, the conference will offer new insights into understanding social movements fighting for environmental justice.

Procès filmés et images preuves en Argentine, cinquante ans après le coup d’État
Rencontre PROFIL 5 – Projet « Faire à plusieurs 2024 »
Le projet pluridisciplinaire « PROFIL – La fabrique du procès filmé » a pour objet les images du et dans le procès. Ici, pour notre cinquième rencontre, nous nous tournons vers l’Argentine. Nous allons voir pour certains, revoir pour d’autres, les images des procès de la junte militaire, dont certaines sont d’archives et d’autres de fiction, et des images-preuves des crimes commis par la dictature argentine. Cinquante ans après le coup d’État, nous exhumons les traces des crimes commis, les traces de l’événement judiciaire et la parole des témoins. Entre images-preuves, films de procès et procès filmés, nous poursuivons nos travaux autour du visuel dans l’écriture de l’histoire.

Les frontières, marqueurs de souveraineté et d’identité des États-nations, sont des constructions politiques souvent issues de rapports de force historiques, coloniaux ou idéologiques, et fréquemment déconnectées des réalités humaines et socioculturelles. Leur contestation, qualifiée de « réveil des frontières », nourrit tensions et conflits et participe à des recompositions identitaires locales, régionales ou transnationales, sans nécessairement remettre en cause le principe même de la frontière. Ce numéro propose une approche interdisciplinaire et empirique, centrée sur les formes d’expression, les stratégies et les logiques de mobilisation des acteurs contestataires des frontières du XIXᵉ au XXIᵉ siècle.

Participant à l’essor de l’histoire mondiale, il a mis l’accent sur les circulations internationales qui ont alimenté la globalisation de l’architecture.

The Left’s Diverging Paths in the Green Transition
Since the 1970s, environmental constraints, shifting social values, and the crisis of post-war productivism have profoundly challenged the Western left. Once grounded in beliefs in scientific progress, technological innovations, and rising material prosperity, left-wing movements have increasingly been forced to confront planetary limits, rising inequality, and growing public ambivalence toward technoscience. These tensions have crystallised in contemporary debates on the Green Transition, where competing visions of abundance (growth-oriented technological optimism) and sufficiency (degrowth, sobriété, post-productivism) shape political and social antagonisms.

Réformes politiques et actions publiques en Afrique : modèles, réceptions et pratiques
L’action publique en Afrique se caractérise par une pluralité d’acteurs, une diversité d’arènes décisionnelles et une multiplicité de formes de légitimité. Les expériences africaines ont produit des formes hybrides d’action publique, où les logiques locales, les héritages institutionnels et les rapports de pouvoir internes ont façonné des modes d’appropriation différenciés. Les réformes ont souvent été reconfigurées, traduites, voire contournées, selon les contraintes politiques, économiques et sociales propres à chaque État. À cette dynamique interne s’ajoutent des transformations majeures du contexte international. C’est à l’examen de ces dynamiques croisées que l’appel à contributions pour des chapitres d’ouvrage souhaite contribuer.

Unleashing Transformative and Decolonised Education for Sustainability in a Globalised World
The theme of the conference is grounded in the transformative learning paradigm applied to education for sustainable development (ESD). ESD is a central element in promoting “enlightened citizenship” for all students, but also in training future professionals who will integrate a sustainable development approach into their work, regardless of the sector. This call for contributions is based on UNESCO’s 2030 Roadmap for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), published in 2020 and the 2022 Berlin Declaration, which places transformative ESD at its core.

The Phanariots have long animated the historiography of late eighteenth- and early nineteenth-century Southeast Europe. Contemporary political commentators, as well as historians seeking to construct national(ist) narratives, branded the Phanariots with critiques of corruption, foreign interests, and the legacies of the Ottoman past. Yet, scholars have conducted scant research on how and why “Phanariots” and “Phanariotism” came to signify corruption, bad governance, and a seemingly inescapable Ottoman past after 1821. This workshop tends to this gap in historiography.

By choosing to focus on South-North circulations, this seminar is dedicated to the deconstruction of the “British Empire” as a homogeneous category to write and think about the intellectual, artistic, and political histories of the people who circulate and inhabit this polity known as the Commonwealth of Nations in the post-Bandung era. Working from the assumption that committed artists, intellectuals and political activists from the Global South have networked and connected within this space, we seek to interrogate the counter-hegemonic nature of the knowledge, theories and artistic practices produced during the post-Bandung era.

Les communications révèlent la complexité de ces saisies : spoliation des œuvres, des matériels, des cinéastes, des laboratoires ou des lieux de projection. Les interventions permetteront de comprendre les mécanismes précis de cette politique méthodiquement élaborée : ses ramifications régionales, le rôle des institutions impliquées et des acteurs clés, ainsi que les œuvres et les réalisateurs spoliés.

Pour autant, les combats qui nous intéressent ici ne redoutent pas l’affrontement, conscients que les résistances qu’ils rencontrent ne se dissipent pas d’elles mêmes. Nous chercherons à rendre visibles les résistances contemporaines et comment elles s’expriment par de nouveaux modes de création, d’expression, d’échange et d’action collective.
