Cet événement constitue l’aboutissement d’un projet de recherche mené durant l’année universitaire 2015-2016 avec un groupe d’étudiants inscrits en master dans le séminaire « Face aux archives » du département cinéma et audiovisuel de l’université Sorbonne Nouvelle-Paris 3 (UFR arts et médias).

  In the Heart of the Great War

  The Individual at the Crossroads between the Civilian and Military Worlds

  The symposium theme is merely a guideline, a clue for reflection rather than a well-defined subject. It leads us to question the ways through which individuals – soldiers, civilians at the home front or in occupied territories – integrate and conciliate the military dimension on one side (whether it’s their experience at the front or German presence on the streets of their village) and the civil dimension on the other. In addition to the encounter between the civilian and military “worlds”, constituting two separate spheres, we must reflect upon the individual as being at the crossroads between two dimensions, which jointly construct him or her.

  War without weapons - refugees and prisoners on the Austro-Italian front (1915-1918)

  Réfugiés et prisonniers du front austro-italien (1915-1918)

  Ce colloque est le deuxième d’un programme de recherches sur la guerre austro-italienne qui a donné lieu à une conférence à Padoue (19-21 mai 2016) intitulée « Soldats et quotidien de guerre sur l’Isonzo ». Le second volet de ce programme est consacré aux aspects proprement austro-italiens des expériences des populations désarmées, et plus spécifiquement par une réflexion autour de trois catégories : les prisonniers, les réfugiés et les populations civiles à proximité des zones de front. Le colloque propose d’articuler dans une perspective bilatérale les expériences de ces trois catégories de population autour de la mise en perspective des enjeux aussi bien publics que privés, locaux aussi bien que régionaux ou nationaux.

  L'ampleur des spoliations de bibliothèques effectuées par les forces nazies durant la seconde guerre mondiale a été durablement sous-estimée. En France seulement, au moins cinq millions de livres et documents graphiques ont été volés à leurs légitimes propriétaires : ministères, bibliothèques slaves, personnalités des milieux radicaux, socialistes et communistes, francs-maçons. Mais c'est surtout leur lien originaire avec l'antisémitisme nazi qui fait la spécificité première des spoliations nazies.

  After years as a space of authoritarian exception, the Arab world became a space of "revolution". The outcome has proven meager at best: most authoritarian regimes have managed to muzzle protest movements. Only Tunisia seems engaged in a process of transition, relaying and integrating key political constituencies. Given such a configuration, we will examine the various modes by which relations of Justice and political power have been articulated in recent years in Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia.

  The massacres of 1894-1896 in the Ottoman Empire: Genesis, Consequences and Continuities of Extreme Violence

  Theme issue of the journal Études arméniennes contemporaines (EAC n° 8 – Decembre 2017)

  The history of the large-scale massacres committed against the Armenians under the reign of Sultan Abdülhamid II, in 1894-1896, is still largely unknown, its sources underutilized or not studied at all. This period of extreme violence, a watershed in the political and social history of the Ottoman Empire, raises many questions about the similarities and differences with the genocidal process of 1915-1916. We invite submissions on a broad range of topics and disciplinary approaches for this special issue. Relevant studies may include chronological analyses of the events of the 1890s themselves, as well as analyses of the consequences of that era of violence up to the present day. At the heart of this issue lies the question of the precedent: what links can be established between the genocide and the mass crimes that preceded it – an issue relevant to the study of other twentieth-century genocides.

  The disciplinary constitution of the humanities and social sciences in 19th and 20th century Greece: National traditions and transnational movements

  25th Modern Greek Studies Conference of French-speaking universities

  The biennial Congress of French-speaking Modern Greek Studies scholars will take place from October 12^th to October 14^th, 2017 in Aix-en-Provence. Its aim is to bring together researchers from every domain of the humanities and social sciences. The issue at the heart of this 15^th Congress is the historical progress of certain areas of study towards the status of full-fledged disciplines of the humanities and social sciences in Greece from the moment of the establishment of the Greek state (1830) and within a context allowing the study of this phenomenon in both its regional and its international dimensions.

   

  The works of the Congress will be organized around the following themes:

  1. The emergence, institutionalization, reproduction and diffusion of disciplinary bodies of knowledge.

  2. The way each discipline positions itself with relation to other fields of knowledge and implements its theoretical foundations

  3. The processes of establishing legitimacy for the new disciplines and for the groups framing them

  4. Disciplinarization and the field of Modern Greek Studies

   

  Abstracts must be submitted before February 28^th, 2017, in either French or English.

  Cette journée d’étude s’inscrit dans le cadre du projet de formation-recherche « La France et l’Allemagne à l’épreuve de la crise migratoire », mené par le Centre d’information et de recherche sur l’Allemagne contemporaine (CIRAC) et l’Institut allemand de politique étrangère (DGAP), avec le soutien du Centre interdisciplinaire d’études et de recherches sur l’Allemagne (CIERA) et du centre de recherche AGORA de l’université de Cergy-Pontoise. Nous nous limiterons ici aux espaces de la francophonie, qui offrent un vaste champ d’études cohérent, mais cela n’empêchera pas – elle sera bien au contraire encouragée – une mise en perspective grâce à l’étude succincte d’autres aires géographiques et civilisationnelles.

  5th Annual Meeting “Europe and the World”

  Au lendemain de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, l’Europe est en pleine décadence. Au cours de cette période difficile, la confrontation entre les deux Europes ne cesse de s’accroître. Face à l’expansionnisme soviétique, les pays d’Europe occidentale se tournent vers les États-Unis qui leurs octroient de l’aide économique et de la protection militaire. La reconstruction de l’Europe fait alors l’objet de débats houleux. Sous la pression des mouvements européanistes, les débats prennent de l’élan surtout à partir de 1948 dans le but de rebâtir l’Europe et la paix en Europe. L’atmosphère de « Guerre froide » est très présente depuis 1946.
