Narrations biographiques : (re)construire les vies posthumes des victimes

Dans ce numéro, nous souhaitons nous intéresser à un type particulier de productions biographiques : celles qui concernent les morts produits par la violence (directe ou structurelle). Les articles pourront par exemple se centrer sur des victimes ayant subi un destin matériel et/ou mémoriel heurté, traversé par des processus de dépersonnalisation ou d’effacement identitaire, à l’instar des victimes anonymes de violences de masse, de corps disparus, inhumés sans rituel ou dans des fosses communes, etc.

Solidarité, inclusion sociale et action publique : quelle gouvernance face aux risques et aux crises ?

Les sociétés contemporaines se caractérisent par une imbrication sans précédent des niveaux d’action publique (local/national/supranational) par la multiplication des acteurs publics, privés et associatifs, et par la diffusion d’outils numériques qui accélèrent les interactions entre décision, communication et mobilisation. Cet espace « multi-formes, multi-niveaux et multi-acteurs » affaiblit la hiérarchie classique de l’État, brouille les frontières entre décision, expertise et participation citoyenne, et confère aux crises une dynamique cumulative et interconnectée plutôt que linéaire.

Définis l’un et l’autre comme des sciences autant que des arts, ils sont aussi confrontés à la question de leur adéquation à la société dans laquelle ils ont vocation à s’épanouir. D’où des questions communes tenant à leur création, interprétation10 et inéluctable évolution dans le cadre de l’État. S’il n’y a pas de droit universel, comment la technique juridique aborde-t-elle ce « langage » réputé universel dans l’espace et dans le temps ?

While transitions are often thought of in a sectoral and segmented manner, the territory has emerged as an integrative framework that promises to synchronise sectoral dynamics, stakeholder interactions and highly diverse scalar logics, enabling THE transition to take shape from multiple transitions.

Progress and change?

A provisional assessment of Keir Starmer’s Labour government

The General Election of July 4, 2024 delivered a victory for Labour against a deeply divided and power-weary Conservative party whose reputation for reliability and competence had been substantially damaged. Labour’s return to office after fourteen years in opposition is a sufficiently rare occurrence in British electoral history to warrant the use of the adjective historic in relation to the party’s victory. The coincidence of the formation of the Starmer government with the centenary of the election of the first Labour government ever, albeit a minority and short-lived one, is an invitation to look back on the history of Labour in office and implicitly raises the question of its place in the Labour tradition and of its political inheritance.

The journal Communications is launching a call for papers for a special issue on alternative approaches to artificial intelligence (AI), focusing on peacebuilding and breaking away from the militarization and surveillance logics associated with AI, robotics, and automation. As a dual-use technology with both civilian and military applications, AI is shaped by the military-industrial complex. Contributions will seek to analyze geopolitical, epistemic, and economic power relations, while advancing social justice and sustainability. The call encourages an interdisciplinary approach, including philosophy, sociology, history, STS, anthropology, political science, political economy, and humanities.
