Le questionnement porte sur la régulation institutionnelle du dégoût, et sur le rôle joué par la législation et par les institutions lorsqu'elles ont à gérer des corps, des populations, des individus, qui suscitent chez ses membres le dégoût, la répulsion, ou la réprobation. Sur quelle construction sociale du dégoût opèrent ces institutions spécialisées (hôpital, foyer, centre d'accueil de populations fragiles, de SDF, maison de retraite, morgue, etc.) ? Sont-elles traversées par les formes communes du dégoût, ne faisant que reconduire les réactions de dégoût socialement déterminées et distribuées ? L'étude de ce « dégoût d'institution » permet-elle d'attester scientifiquement de l'existence du dégoût ? A quelles conditions, les réactions somatiques peuvent constituer un objet et un instrument d'analyse en sciences sociales. -
