This issue of the journal Esclavages et Post-Esclavages will explore various aspects of illegal enslavement and re-enslavement in the Atlantic world from the 15th century to the present day and will welcome contributions in English, French, Portuguese or Spanish.

Les professions artistiques
Ce projet a mis en évidence la façon dont, en plusieurs époques, les enseignant·es en danse ont "défendu leur métier", en s'organisant collectivement. Leur action a alors aussi été l'occasion de penser des "problèmes de métier". Cette journée de travail permettra de faire dialoguer le cas des enseignant·es en danse avec plusieurs autres organisations collectives visant à "défendre son métier", dans les professions artistiques comme dans d'autres domaines.

La revue Sèvres lance un appel à contributions pour un numéro thématique consacré à la notion de collaboration dans l’histoire des arts du feu (céramique, verre, émaux). Ce numéro vise à interroger et rendre visible les formes multiples de collaboration qui ont façonné ces techniques, depuis l’Antiquité jusqu’à nos jours.

Edition and editorial practices, past and present
This international, bilingual conference organised with the Société Française Shakespeare and the Société d’Études Anglaises et Américaines des XVIIe et XVIIIe siècles seeks to analyse the world of edition and editions in the early modern period, as well as of works first produced in the early modern period. This conference therefore proposes to bring together discussions of the publishing and editorial worlds of the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, and the stakes and questions that underpin the making of contemporary editions of early modern texts.

Dance-Sculpture Encounters in Francophone Contexts, Past and Present
This special issue of H-France Salon aims to broaden our understanding of the intricate patterns of interconnection and mutual exchange between the arts of dance and sculpture. The “Degas dilemma,” is whereby the (female) dancer passively serves as the (male) sculptor’s “muse.” Rather than reducing the relationship between these arts to mere illustration or representation, interventions should consider the range of ways that each responded to the other, and address how such encounters between artistic media illuminate, inform, or amplify hierarchies of gender, sexuality, race, class, nationality, and culture.

Les réflexions des journées d’étude 2025 de l’Association française pour l’étude du textile (AFET) porteront sur le thème de la nuit. Moment particulier de la journée, la nuit est le temps du repos, du repli sur soi, mais aussi celui de l’insomnie, du rêve et des cauchemars, d’activités spécifiques, comme le travail ou la fête… Elle peut être également synonyme d’ombre, d’obscurité, de néant, parfois de mort. La nuit est aussi porteuse d’un imaginaire fantastique, d’une symbolique et l’occasion de rites spécifiques. La manière dont les textiles témoignent des rapports que les sociétés entretiennent avec la nuit sera examinée sur la longue durée et au sein d’un vaste espace géographique.

Call for Contributions of Profils, Journal of the Association d’histoire de l’architecture. The relationship between photography and architecture has been the subject of numerous studies, which have shown that this medium has undeniably transformed the ways in which architecture is conceived, understood and represented. The aim of a forthcoming issue of Profils is to question and highlight the various facets of the interaction between architects and photographers as co-producers of the visual representation of architecture, by looking at the uses, views and practices that have marked this relationship over time.

Nourrices et allaitements en images. Des mythes nourriciers au travail de la maternité.
Le travail des nourrices a suscité un regain d’intérêt à la suite des études conséquentes consacrées à l’histoire des femmes, de la vie privée et de la famille. Cette journée d’études en histoire de l’art et cultures visuelles, co-organisée par l’Ecole du Louvre et l’Association des amis du Musée des Nourrices et des Enfants de l’Assistance Publique, est consacrée plus particulièrement à l’étude des images des nourrices ainsi que plus largement aux représentations de la maternité et de l’allaitement.

Ce colloque propose de s’intéresser aux modalités informelles de regroupements des professionnel·les du film (liens familiaux ou amicaux, réseaux de solidarité, associations professionnelles ou de loisir, militantisme politique…), et au rôle qu’ils jouent dans la production et la circulation des films. En quoi les marges des espaces professionnels influencent-t-elles la production ? Comment documenter et mesurer l’impact des échanges qui se font en retrait des plateaux et des studios ? Peut-on faire l’histoire d’un film, ou plus largement d’une production, à partir d’autres lieux que le studio ? Il ne s’agit donc pas de se pencher sur les modes de production alternatifs, mais plutôt sur les liens qui opèrent entre diverses formes de regroupements et l’industrie du cinéma.

Left-Wing Women’s Organizing and Activism in the Twentieth Century
This conference seeks to bring together scholars from different disciplines working on various aspects of the history of women’s activism and organizing. It aims to explore how women across the spectrum of left-wing politics shaped and influenced the twentieth century’s political, social, and cultural landscapes. The conference aspires to assess the contribution of left-wing women’s activists to the general struggle for women’s emancipation using intersectional, postcolonial, and critical-feminist approaches, acknowledging the pluralities in forms and methods of organizing. We encourage prospective participants to explore different forms and frameworks of women’s activism, collaboration, and/or antagonism; continuities and discontinuities within left-wing currents throughout the twentieth century. We urge moving away from Western-centric perspectives, looking into the broader history of women's activism.

Prix de thèse en histoire du XIXe siècle « Dominique Kalifa » 2024
Le Centre d’histoire du XIXe siècle (Université Paris 1 – Sorbonne Université), en partenariat avec la Société d’histoire de la révolution de 1848 et des révolutions du XIXe siècle, désireux de rendre hommage à la mémoire du professeur Dominique Kalifa (1957-2020) et soucieux de promouvoir l’histoire du XIXe siècle dans son sens large, a créé un prix annuel destiné à récompenser une thèse de doctorat portant sur l’histoire du XIXe siècle (1800-1939). Ce prix est destiné à aider à la publication de la thèse.

A l’occasion de son 10e anniversaire, la revue « Genre en séries : cinéma, télévision, médias » organise à Paris en novembre 2025 un colloque sur « #MeToo français dans le cinéma et les médias. Contribution à la fabrique d’un objet de recherche universitaire ». Nous souhaitons, comme d’autres disciplines avant nous, investir ce terrain en lien avec les sociétés savantes représentatives des études de cinéma et audiovisuel, mais aussi les collectifs et associations professionnelles et de la société civile.

Exchanges, Mobility and Collaborations
The World of Silk Between France and Italy, 16th-19th Century
This workshop aims to consider Franco-Italian relations concerning silk from the sixteenth to the nineteenth century by fostering dialogue between research that has hitherto been separated by historiographical tradition, particularly combining history and art history. This interdisciplinary approach is all the more essential as it seeks to scrutinize through the same set of inquiries the entire silk production chain (from mulberry cultivation to fabric consumption, including thread manufacturing and preparation, pattern creation, and weaving). By revealing the importance of interdependencies among the various stages of the production and consumption process and the different actors within this industry, this approach leads to new considerations of the connections between the social worlds and the territories that silk interlinked.

The “Professional Worlds” of Architectural Ornament: Actors and Practices from the 18th Century to the Present Day
This symposium aims to contribute to a better understanding of the "professional worlds" of architectural ornament, by fostering a dialogue between two dynamic fields of research that have hitherto rarely been connected: the history of ornament and the history of professions linked to architecture and construction. Resolutely positioned on the side of craftspeople and professional practices, the various contributions will focus on: the spectrum of ornamental professionals; the relationships between professions and the concrete organization of production chains; and finally, the circulation of people, techniques, and material elements. Covering a wide range of geographical and cultural areas, they will cover a broad contemporary period – from the 18th century to the 2010s.

The journal Perspective : actualité en histoire de l'art will explore, in its 2025 – 1 issue, the relations between labor and art history, understood both as a scholarly discipline and the material under study. That which we collectively term “labor” is today the subject of rapid changes and fierce debates which, in an often caricatural way, pitches those for whom labor is a value in and of itself (work or else laze about) against those who question the value of labor: Which type of work is useful to society? Are the conditions acceptable where labor is active? Is labor a form of domination (?) Posing these questions from an art-historical point of view allows us to start from scratch. This volume suggests that we study the relationships between labor and art history.

Revue « Sociétés et représentations »
La revue Sociétés et Représentations consacrera l’un de ses prochains dossiers (2025-1) à la question des images et des représentations des musiciennes entre le XIXe et le XXIe siècle. Ce numéro s’inscrit dans le prolongement d’un colloque organisé à Paris et à Nanterre qui avait permis de réunir durant deux jours plusieurs spécialistes de la question en musicologie, littérature comparée, histoire de l’art, sociologie. Dans une perspective interdisciplinaire, le dossier ne portera pas sur les pratiques musicales elles-mêmes mais sur la manière dont les figures de musiciennes ont été mises en scène et en récit à différentes périodes, dans différentes aires géographiques et au sein de médiums variés, dans la littérature, les arts visuels, la création musicale ou encore le cinéma.
