El congreso internacional de la Asociacion PILAR, titulado «Del dato al relato. Discursos y narrativas en los medios de comunicacion contemporaneos» se celebrara del 22 al 24 de octubre de 2026 en la Universidad Autonoma de Madrid. Se centra en el papel creciente de los relatos en la construccion de las representaciones mediaticas contemporaneas. El texto destaca la complejodad de la relacion entre hechos y narrativas, especialmente en el contexto marcado por la posverdad y las fakenews. También subraya la influencia de los discursos mediaticos en la formacion de opiniones, identidades y valores democraticos.

Au milieu des tourmentes #MeToo, des débats de genres et autres crises identitaires de la modernité, et alors que de nombreux efforts sont menés pour réévaluer et valoriser la place des femmes dans les arts, notre colloque voudrait inciter à un premier état historique de la question des violences par les, ou à propos des, féminins véhiculés au, dans et par le théâtre lyrique en particulier.

La christianisation de l’Afrique : trajectoires, impacts socio-culturels et défis actuels
Des origines au XXIe siècle
Ce colloque international se tiendra du 27 au 29 mai 2026 à l’université Alassane Ouattara de Bouaké. Il vise à analyser en profondeur l’évolution du christianisme sur le continent africain, de ses premières racines antiques en Éthiopie et au Maghreb jusqu’à son essor contemporain via les courants pentecôtistes et évangéliques. À travers une approche pluridisciplinaire (histoire, sociologie, théologie, etc.), les participants interrogeront les capacités adaptatives de cette religion, son impact sur les patrimoines culturels et les défis liés à la coexistence religieuse et aux enjeux sociaux actuels.

Privilégiant une approche matérielle et pratique de ces ego-documents, ce numéro de Diasporas se propose de repenser le retour réflexif sur l’expérience de la migration opéré par des chercheurs en sciences humaines et sociales tout au long des XIXe et XXe siècles, quels que soient leur provenance et leur pays d’accueil.

The body has often been perceived as the greatest of Nature’s secrets. For centuries, the inquiry into the body represented a battlefield and a point of collaboration between disciplines. Cette journée d’étude s’inscrit dans la continuité des recherches féministes sur l’histoire de l’architecture et de l’espace, qui, depuis la deuxième partie du XXe siècle, interrogent les effets du patriarcat sur la production et les récits architecturaux. Elle vise à prolonger ces travaux en s’intéressant au contexte français du long XIXe siècle (1789-1914). L’objectif est de cartographier les discours féminins et féministes sur l’environnement construit diffusés dans la presse et l’édition en France. Cette approche entend révéler les réseaux, les supports et les thématiques portés par les autrices, tout en replaçant la France dans un cadre de réflexion transnational. Nous souhaitons accueillir des propositions émanant d’horizons disciplinaires variés, au-delà du champ de l’architecture.

Sociability and the Travelling Letter
Message, Medium, Mobility in Europe and the Colonies in the Long Eighteenth Century (1650-1850)
The long eighteenth century is widely recognisedby scholars as a golden age of letter writing, characterised by the expansion of transnational and transatlantic correspondence networks among the elites. Particularly in Britain, this period witnessed an unprecedented enthusiasm for epistolary exchange, which led to a proliferation of publications—ranging from scholarly productions such as theoretical treatises and letter-writing manuals, to literary works, whether fictional, sentimental, general, or biographical. These developments contributed to a redefinition of epistolary conventions, narrative models, and often gendered representations of letter writing.

Le présent projet se propose d’abord d’être le creuset de réflexion sur l’impact des violences orchestrées par les administrations coloniales en Afrique et ensuite d’analyser les formes de protestations contre cet ordre colonial établi et leur survivance aujourd’hui. Plus spécifiquement, il a pour objectif de mesurer les formes d’expressions liant les violences et les résistances coloniales.

VIIe rencontres du XIXe siècle, 4-5 juin 2026
Le XIXe siècle est une période profondément marquée par les violences. Elles sont des pratiques concrètes, qui s’expriment différemment en fonction des acteurs et des cadres et espaces dans lesquels elles s’exercent. Certaines d’entre elles sont spectaculaires, d’autres relèvent du symbolique, du banal ou de la domination silencieuse. Aussi, elles s’inscrivent dans un imaginaire du permis et du non permis, de la norme et de la transgression, en même temps qu’elles participent à le produire. De ce fait, il n’est pas étonnant que le XIXe siècle se distingue par un renouvellement de la réflexion à leur propos, en particulier au sujet de leur légitimité et de leur acceptabilité.

Drawing from the hypothesis of an entanglement between auditory cultures, regimes of perception, and techniques of listening, the study day Tele-Phonies proposes to analyze the arts and cultures of listening through the plural notion of distance. The aim is to consider not only telephone and radio networks, but also a broader set of mediated practices of listening at a distance—within or on the margins of these networks—in order to grasp their impact on the sonic arts and auditory cultures.

Describing Creole Languages in the 19th Century: Ideology, Sociology, and Intertextuality
How do beliefs about Creole languages influence the their descriptions by 19th-century creolists? This issue of Archipélies seeks to answer this question, focusing on the beliefs, representations, and, more broadly, ideologies that permeate descriptions of Creole languages from the documentation of Haitian Creole by Ducœurjoly in 1802 to the naturalistic portrayal of Creoles around the turn of the century1. Far from being reduced to simple nomenclatures, descriptions of Creole languages reproduce an ideological background that must be examined in order to better understand the gradual development of a linguistic discourse on the genesis and structures of Creole languages. As linguistic practices born out of colonial situations, forced contact, and historical ruptures, Creoles and their descriptions crystallize the ideological and conceptual divisions of coloniality, threatening its coherence and uniformity.

L’État et les arts (1791-1848)
Dans le cadre de ce programme « Histoire de la collection sans mur de l’État (1791-1848) », porté par l’École nationale des chartes - PSL et le Centre national des arts plastiques (Cnap), l’équipe de recherche organise un atelier sous forme de datathon destiné à familiariser les chercheuses et chercheurs avec un catalogue de données inédites. Cet atelier sera l’occasion d’explorer les potentialités de ce corpus, tant pour l’histoire de l’art que pour les humanités numériques ; d’esquisser des pistes de recherche en vue d’une journée d’étude au printemps 2026.

Actors and representations of the safeguard of nature in mountain areas: a global perspective (late 18th – early 21st century)
The aim of this international scientific conference is to examine the progressive integration of the environmental protection theme into the several mountain ranges of the Earth, between the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 21st century, concluding in 2022, the International Year of Mountains. By selecting a global perspective, it encourages a decentring of observation points, which in turn brings to light not only the diversity of trajectories but also the possible (direct or indirect) circulation of knowledge, materials, practices and individuals in the different mountain ranges.

Historical approaches to religious reinventions and social change in late modern societies
Special Issue for the journal “European Review of History”
From the late 19th century to the mid-20th century, religion played a continuous role in shaping societies worldwide. This period was marked by dramatic historical changes, including imperial expansion, decolonization, the devastation of two world wars, and the ideological tensions of the Cold War. Religious institutions, communities, and individuals actively engaged with all these phenomena, proving themselves to be co-creators of profound social, cultural, and political shifts. Currently seeking contributions from historians focusing on selected examples of religious transformation and social change in Eastern Orthodoxy, Catholicism of the Greek rite, Judaism and Islam.
